I tightened my chain Friday as well. It had 2.5in. of slack and adjusted it to 1.75in. or so. Torqued to 80 ft lbs and the axle had the same slant as yours. Figured it did not really matter and rode for a couple hundred miles since then with no issues. Next adjustment I will fix that issue.

Same here, display usually shows .1 or .2 gallons more consumed than the pump shows(which is better than the other way around). I would probably trust it to within .3 if cutting it close.
