A little spendy with the conversion rate, but very blingy. I like 'em.

I got those axle blocks on Ebay about a year ago and cant find them online anymore. A buddy with an FJ wants a set but we are coming up empty, where did you order yours from?

I just got my used Sargent a few weeks ago, and I'm loving it.Best update today....Sargent Seat. I am 6 feet with 33 inseam. This solved the slide forward issue. Ahhhh! -
Well, for several years it was THE official Suzuki SV Rally USA. Sadly, that came to an end a few years back, not surprisingly after the SV was discontinued and a lot of participants parted ways with the venerable old SV's and a lot of folks just lost interest as attendance dropped the last 3 or 4 years.
What kinda rally??Our group will be down there 1st week of June for the annual 'rally'.
This will be my tenth year going down. I'm pretty stoked, it never gets old riding down there.
Thankfully, a core group of us that have been going for years decided to continue the annual trek every year the first week of June, and we now call it "BYOR" for "Bring Your Own Rally". We still have a few SV owners that attend, but we have a much broader spectrum of motorbikes now. Examples include BMW, Ducati, Triumph, KTM, heck you name it and we bring all kinds. We all share a passion for riding. It's a great group we have, although this year I think we're down to only 14 attendees. Last year we had around 20 or so. The older we all get, the harder it is for people to notch that week in the calendar books.

It's nice. Still flows air onto the helmet but with virtually no buffeting or turbulence like OEM. Givi designed it pretty well. I'll switch off to my short flyscreen in the hottest months of the summer for full airflow onto the torso.
Really interested in your opinion! I like the looks of that screen. I don't want to go the barn door route, and have been switching back and forth between the stock screen and nothing at all...Givi D2122S It's 18 inches.
The only downside is for now it appears to be only available from overseas. I ordered mine from Italy via eBay store (and help from Google translator, haha) and had no issues getting it delivered pretty darn quickly.

Exactly what I used when I removed the OEM donkey ears.@spartacus the OEM FZ09 bar end weights are a direct fit. You pull the threaded insert out and they thread in in their place.
They aren't expensive either.

I've been lucky enough to ride to work half the week thanks to good weather here in RVA. Finally coming to grips with all the many upgrades I did this winter.
The new Givi is pretty dang nice. I have the D2122S, not the big honking tall monster everyone seems to love. ( Sorry. To each their own) While it doesn't move the air over my head, the shape & design just spills smooth air on my helmet. No turbulence, no buffeting, no howling noise, just smoother, quieter airflow now.
The new forks and shock are stupendous. This, by far, is the best bang for the buck I have spent on the FJ. It's completely transformed. So much smoother, predictable, and very well-behaved now... Better ride overall by a huge margin. Anyone here still on the fence about suspension upgrades, listen up: Get off your arse and do it. You will not regret it.

Forks by Matt rebuilds are finally installed.
When I finished up, it was not raining, just a balmy 44 degrees out and road surfaces were dry. So of COURSE you know I had to do a short shakedown ride.
This FJ-09 may look like my old motorcycle, but that's pretty much the only similarity it has now to the previous unmodified version. It sounds, rides, feels, handles, brakes, accelerates and pretty much does everything like an entirely different motorcycle now.
Exhaust: It's slightly loud, even with the baffle installed, I purposely rode with no earplugs just to gauge the sound on a ride. Still, it's pretty nice, even if a bit loud while on the gas. Off the gas it quiets up nicely, and thanks to the ECU flash, there's no popping or backfire off-throttle.
I don't think it's raucous enough to make my neighbors hate me.
Speaking of the ECU flash, it really smoothed out the low-RPM choppiness that nearly everyone complains about. Throttle response is a lot silkier now and the fueling is much better as far as I could sense.
This is a win.
The Sargent seat will take some getting used to, all 9k miles on the bike have come on the OEM saddle, and the Sarge is a LOT different. I think for long days & rides it's going to be a huge improvement, since it removes the pressure points on the arse. I kept my Alaska Leather sheepskin buttpad for a little plush. (Hey, I'm old. Get off my lawn)
The new Givi D2122S windshield is really quite nice. Although my test ride wasn't long or at speeds over 60mph, so far as I could tell it does move the air a lot better than the OEM POS, with less buffeting on my Shoei than stock. Time will tell, but I feel like this was a good purchase.
The new suspension... well, I saved the best for last. The new shock and rebuilt cartridge forks transformed this motorcycle. Granted, I have NOT tuned on it one bit, including setting the sag (very soon)... But even still, the test ride really showed my just how fantastic this motorcycle is with a good suspension under it. Fork dive under hard braking is completely resolved. Harsh, violent bumps in the pavement are barely noticeable, whereas before the stock setup would nearly loosen your fillings and crush your vertebrae. Turn-in now is almost telepathic fast, and although that may change slightly once we get the sag correctly set, it feels so much more precise and eager to turn than before. I cannot imagine how much better this bike is going to rail on the roads down at Deal's Gap in June.

I think it's all good. Matt said 1-2mm is not unusual, there is no other play in any direction other than the side-to-side. Also, once I put weight on the rear suspension and loaded the shock, I couldn't move it at all. I may have been overthinking it a bit. I can see how it would be bad to have it too snug and binding, it would negatively hinder the swingarm movement and pivot point.

Oh, I'm aware, had the same thing with my '07 SV-650. Really transformed the bike into an entirely different machine.
I've got it installed now, I texted pattonme for his 2 cents regarding some very slight play on the lower mount clevis, I have about 2mm side-to-side play there between the clevis and the shock mount that has me scratching my head... Anyone else have this? I didn't notice this when I yanked the OEM shock off, but then again I wasn't paying that much attention to this during disassembly.

NopeThe beaked look has grown on me but I couldn't bring myself to pay for it as I felt it was over priced... well last night I decided to waste that money lol. Guess I will have a beaked FJ soon. -
I've done this as well. Only a temporary lift. If I need the front wheel off the ground long-term, I use my paddock stands.
In the past I have had someone press down on the rear seat, raising the front end, while I slid a block under the header.Has anyone ever just put extra weight on the pillion to raise the front tire while on the centerstand?

Everyone with a red bike uses the red rim tape, which is exactly why I went with a different color. I try to be a little different or have my bike unique in some way.I think that red reflective rim tape would match your bike better than silver. Taylor33 custom rim tape to match my blue fj-09. Stick with the reflective. The bonus visibility is unquestionable.I installed some silver reflective rim stripes. However at certain angles they almost look blue. I'm not sure if I'm going to keep them or switch to the silver non-reflective that is a normal silver color.

Got my flyscreen from the powdercoat man today, grommets installed and ready to mount.
Test fit is perfect, hole alignment is as good if not better than OEM:

That's cool. I swapped one in on my '07 SV-650 several years ago, and it was a night/day improvement!Got the ZX10R shock put on and a subsequent hour test drive. Definitely an improvement! I'm working on a write up for how I did the swap. -
My powdercoat guy got the new flyscreen finished. I'll pick it up tomorrow, and once I get a chance I'll mount it on the bike and snap some photos of the finished product.Sick and tired of trying to find an economical flyscreen for my FJ, I "outsourced" to my buddy at work. He fabbed up this rough template for me. Exactly the size & shape I wanted, fitment is perfecto, and will be powdercoated flat black for finish.
He ended up doing a nice satin black finish that very closely mimics the "flat" paint finish on the FJ. Pic:
