Recommending a cover depends on how you plan on using it.  I use mine while traveling for overnight in the hotel parking lot, as @robzilla mentioned, just for morning dew or light showers.  I wanted something small and packable to fit in my side bag so I got a Half Cover like this.  It packs down to the size of a grapefruit.

If you need a full length cover or something sturdier and completely waterproof for heavy rain storms, they will take up considerable space if you use it while traveling.

Just looking for a lightweight travel cover to keep the sap off at the cottage, at home I

keep in the garage so cover is just to keep dust off at home.

  2. Finally got out for a decent ride ! The weather wasn't supposed to be good but I woke up early one  Sunday took a peek out from behind the blinds and the skies were clear yippie !! So I jumped up had a couple Quick cups of coffee and headed out . So by 8 am I was out on the road , first thing thing I gotta say is what a fun bike I couldn't stop smiling the whole ride . I'm so glad I went for the 9gt over the standard 900 , the cruise control is a nice thing to have also heated gips as well ! So far I don't find the seat that bad although I do notice the tilt forword but will need some more miles to decide weather I'll do the seat mod or not . As far as the wind screen it seems ok in the hi position for me it doesn't seem to buffet that much , for me anyways . To be honest I was a little nervous about getting back into riding , wasn't sure how my old back and joints would handel the road on a motorcycle but so fa so good . The riding position is nice and upright so feels good on my back not sure about my knees yet as the ride was only about 150 km's and 2.5 hrs so time will tell. I really like the quick shifter especially on accelerating the bike handels well in the curves the brakes seem good. I havent really played around with suspension adjustments yet and so far I leave it in the a2 setting. At this point I'm very happy with the 9gt and I think it was a good choice for getting back into the sport

  3. I picked up my 21 9gt today yippee!! I told myself I wouldn't pick it up if it was raining so what do I do ? pick it up when it was snowing go figure . Anyway after a very comfortable ride home (NOT) I pulled into my garage very cold and a little damp . First impression love the quick shifter! never used one before, the heated grips were nice as needed on the ride home which is something I thought I would never use but there's that old saying neve say never ! I did notice the slight tilt in the seat pushing me forword into the tank though it didn't bother me too much but maybe because I was so focused on getting home with no incident but overall felt petty comfortable considering . A good combo , new bike to get used too, not riding for many years and crappy weather to boot ! hopefully tomorrow's weather will be better so I can get a better feel for the bike .

If you're interested I have a set of SW-Motech frame sliders that I'm not using since replacing those with crash bars.  I'll be in Toronto the second week of June.

  5. I took another look at the 21 9gt yesterday and will be putting down a deposit tomorrow .                      as far as must do mods's I plan on getting frame sliders , rad protector . I'll wait on screen and seat mod's until I get a few miles under my belt to see how I feel . looking for suggestions for "must do mods" I've seen people recommend screen protectors for the dash, is it necessary ? Anyways very much looking forword to my journey with the bike on and off the road.

You are overthinking all of this IMHO......buy the bike that you want and be done with it. :) Getting an FJ or regular Tracer is a downgrade compared to the 19-current GT lines, but yes there are many happy owners here of the OG models as well.

Ya I know I'm diving myself nuts ! I think Iv'e decided on the 21 9gt going to look at it again today maybe I can negotiate a few bucks off  what there asking . I very much appreciate all the information I've gotten from this forum !!

  7. I may have missed the boat on the 20 gt , bummer ! There is a 21 9tg available but allot more cash 12900 compared to 11000 for the 20 gt and 10000 for the 19 tracer 900 with 500 km so basically new.

I decided on making an offer on the 2020 gt  but if its sold my options right now are a

19 tracer 900  500 km                                                                                                                                       21  gt     13200 km                                                                                                                                          I I can afford to get the gt ( 3000) more than the 900 do you guys think its worth it I believe the 9gt is a much better bike I just need to justify the extra cost . If I got the basic 900 I would definitely be getting Either a top box or panniers so that would be anywhere from 500-1500 more i'd be spending anyways .  Also was interested about reliability due to the updated engine as I know they bumped up the displacement a bit not sure what else? looking for some real world experience between the 2 , i'm getting so close to pulling the trigger just need a little push over the edge.

  8. I went to look at the 21 , nice bike ! but as I as chatting with the salesman about my decision process he showed me a 2019 that literally just came in only 500 km on it as is a repo. I think I just made up my mind as its basically brand new  and will leave me extra cash for gear as I need a new helmet etc.

It,s over 3k less than the 9gt the only thing the 9gt has that I really want is the cruise control . If money was no object im sure the gt would be in the garage !

  9. The 2020 tracer 900 that I have been looking at has the short sport windshield. The other bikes i was looking at is a 21 9gt with 16000 km on it or a 2020 gt with 27000 km, forgetting the km's is it worth getting the 21? I know it has the slightly bigger engine ,semi active suspension etc. Any thoughts would be great! Im getting close to a decision. The 2020 900 being cheaper would free up some cash for some gear and future up grades.

  10. Good to hear ! The 2020 gt I was looking at was sold, there are a few others but not as low mileage as the 2020 I saw.  There are some 22's for sale new or almost new but alot more money 15- 16 k quite a bit more than the 15 fj09 I initially looked at lol. I've decided (subject to change) at least a 19 or 20 gt . Hopefully I can find a good one for around 12-13 k with low km's .
