  1. The GT has weird geometry.  When you sit on it, a lot of bike is out in front of you.  You seem to be sitting back too far.

The GX seat is a couple of inches taller than the GT.  That will be deal breaker for a lot of people.

I agree - the GX looks great.  I am tired of gold forks though.

After using up the first tank of gas the came the came in my bike, I've managed to only add ethanol free gas to the tank for the last 3000 miles or so. Should I add fuel stabilizer for winter storage?

Your fuel should be "stable" since it doesn't have any ethanol in it.  If you want to be super careful, before the first ride next season, drain the fuel and run it in your car.  Add fresh ethanol free gas to the bike before riding it.  I do this and I know it is over the top.

  3. I have a 2016 FJ 09 and a 2019 CB1000r.

They are close to each other in terms of ergonomics.  I'm 5'11.

The seat height is perfect on the CB.  Pegs are a small amount higher, but hip and knee bend isn't noticeably different.  I put the seat back and forth between the high and low positions on the FJ 09.  Neither is as spot on for me as the CB.

I use the FJ 09 for multi day trips and the CB1000r for less than 400 mile rides.

The big difference is the engine.  I have a full Akra system on the CB1000r.  The HP difference between the two bikes is substantial.

The newer CB1000r bikes can't easily be tuned/flashed yet.  That's a big deal for people who don't like the stock exhaust.

I did the trade when bikes were scarce and they gave me $9500 for it on paper. With $4000 off the list price for a left over 2019 Niken GT I was a happy camper, and 3 year warranty from Yamaha. 🙂

You negotiated an excellent deal - on both the trade in and purchase sides of the transaction.

  5. The biggest benefit of the ECU reflash for me (with a stock exhaust) is I changed my mind about selling the bike.

Seriously, I couldn't stand riding it back to back with my other bikes.  Some of them were flashed with aftermarket systems and some were stock.  All were enjoyable to ride, the FJ was not.

Now the FJ is my go to bike on most days.
