@betoney , Using a flashlight (or Torch if you're a Brit) so you can see what's happening, stick a long screwdriver in toward that left side/bolt head, and pry up, or pry down on the wire cluster just enough to find out which way has easier movement. Once you can move the wire cluster up or down enough to clear the bolt head, have a friend push it out from the right side. You'll literally have to pry the wires away for the bolt head to clear.
It's not your imagination; those wires don't want to move, but they will.

Any model year FJR bag will fit an FJ 09, the mounts are all the same. I have bags from a 2005 FJR on mine.Is there a certain range of model years/numbers of FJR bags that will work on the FJ-09? For example, I see the occasion 2004 FJR1300 (a model number that is no longer in production) up on ebay and wonder if these will fit the same as FJR1300A (the current model number in production apparently) bags do. -
250k miles is a lot to me, but those are just break-in miles to Brick... he's somewhere around 800k now; he'll hit the big 1 MILLION mile mark in another few years.
Help me understand what you're objecting to. 30/30 pressures for street use? On a 450lb bike? In 20F to 40F temperatures? I think I know a little about tires - 250K miles on 7 different bikes, and upteen tires...Your kidding right?!?! Come on... I'd love to find any tire manufacturer that recommends this! Now admittedly I've only been riding for 50 years but this sound like bs to me.

Hmmm. How can I get one of these beak-like devices? ?I should state that since adding the beak to my bike I have experienced women getting out of their cars when stopped at traffic lights to slip me their phone numbers, bartenders waving me off when I start to pay for my drinks, and my arthritic foot has miraculously healed. Not sure there is a direct causal relationship, but the facts - so to say - speak for themselves. -
An alternative to the Dorman 65407 (that I could never find in stock anywhere including Amazon) and the Mazda drain plug referenced earlier in this thread is the Volkswagon N-911-679-01. It's a T45 Torx driven plug identical to the Mazda version. As you can see from the VW dealership receipt, it's even less money than the others. BTW, our drain plugs are the very common 14mm x 1.5 thread, not 10 x 1.5

Purolator PL14612 that I bought must have been one of the new style as it didn't have enough concave to it. Took it back and opened a few boxes to check and all the PL14612 and PL14610 filters were the same 'no go'. However, the premium PBL14610 'Boss' version had a much deeper concave and worked just fine. It's also a dark metallic color for those who are fashion conscious. BTW, a can of Krylon will fix those ugly filters in about two minutes.

Will you make me one of those for the rear turn signals?Converted my rear turn signals to also function as running lights, and converted the front turn signals to single intensity with full off-on-off when in turn signal mode. Before I go any further I need to acknowledge the source of my inspiration... here.
In general, I bought a pack of 10 IRFU9024N MOSFETs from eBay for under $3 (free shipping!!)... and waited 3 weeks for the boat to finally make it to shore. The MOSFETs are tiny... and pin-out is shown in the photo below. I assembled the dongles (a couple of ways to do that, depending where the dongle has to go), and then wired them per circuit diagram.
For the rear, I wired the dongles under the pillion seat, where I tapped into running light power lead. In the front I did the surgery inside the plastic side panels and managed to hide the assembly entirely between the inner and outer shells. I had taped the entire length of the pigtail prior to final assembly.
When the season ends, I might change things up in the rear a bit (change the dongle style to reduce the length of wires etc.), and might swap the rear bulbs to red. I am pleased with the mod and think it adds a measure of safety. Here's the result...

Found the same "FZ-6" footpegs on ebay for $7.98 shipped so decided to give 'em a try.

Grinding the left side rivet off took all of about 20 seconds with a 4" angle grinder. On test fitting the pegs, they both angled upward rather than sitting level.
The stock footpeg by comparison:
The pegs had just a hair too much tab on them for use on a low miles bike with fresh peg yokes. Some massaging with a bastard file and all is well.
This is what they looked like before filing. Most of the little bump needed to be filed off. Don't overdo it, file a little, test often.
The right side pin was the perfect length, but the left side was way too long. Since these pins are retained with E-clips, it looked like a prime opportunity to knock the clip off as it would stick out so far.
Rather than use the clip, I drilled a hole in the pin and put a cotter pin in it.
The whole job took maybe 20 minutes and a whopping $8.
Update: Wow! sooooo much better than the stock pegs. Best $8 I've ever spent on a bike.

Installed FZ6 pegs front and rear.
Front were a straight swap, just had to cut the left side rivet to get the peg off, and rears needed some trimming to allow them to fully extend.
Nothing too serious to do, but definitely a nice upgrade.
Do the FZ6 front pegs raise your feet any?

Just curious; what is your weight with riding gear? Luggage/cargo weight? Still running the pathetically soft stock suspension?This mod saved my oil pan a few days ago while navigating a twisty and uneven old road. My center stand hit pavement after riding through a dip. I expect that it would have been my oil pan if I had not performed this mod. Glad I did this one. -
It's right here (pardon the commuting grime):Could you post a picture of the factory helmet locks? Just went to the garage to look at my FJ and there is no helmet lock that I am able to see.
USA models don't come with the keyed-lock, we only get the cheesy cable in the "tool" kit. Countless motorcycles for decades have come with one variation or another of the 'remove the seat, hang helmet, reinstall seat' method.

Yep. I put a new blade in the utility knife and was done in about one minute. Power box is installed.
dremel is overkill - the plastic is very soft - easier than cutting a PET pop/soda bottleI was thinking the same thing. They put a nice storage bin in place, yet closed off the access to it. The dremel is coming out tomorrow, the new Blue Sea power distribution box will fit perfectly in there. -

The only possible reason I can see for a throttle housing pin is some whiney, nanny-state lawyer thought it was a good idea to once again, protect us from ourselves. Of all the things I might worry about while I'm riding, this is definitely NOT one of them.
