It really does I'm loving that silver/black/blue paint scheme.Gotta say that new GT does look good!

Honestly if I were you I'd just ditch the stock front tire, the road 5's have a lot of tech in the front tire to make the bike handle better and the stock tires are crap. I swapped both my stock tires out with less than 3k miles on them and it was totally worth it IMO.I'm in the same boat... 99.9% sure I'm going with the PR 5's but only doing the rear now, as the front has less than 4K miles on the original tire... Rear didn't last for shete! (I may like aggressive corning too...)

I'm about 500 miles into a pair of michelin road 5's and they are incredible. Picked up a set off Revzilla for $350 shipped when they were running a sale.

Suppose you might like my bike then . I've really tried to run with the white/black scheme even got the white piping on the corbin, only thing I feel really needs to be done now is paint the forks black I think that'd bring it all together.I parked the FJ-09 for a few days... Its been 8months since I have ridden the HP-07(FZ-07 w/Hordpower kit) beyond my block... I miss riding this little bike, feels good to ride "naked" ?... its a little rough round the edges compared to the FJ-09 but they both suit each other very well for majority my motorcycle needs...
Just like the '17 FJ, I LOVE that black and white color scheme.

Yup the road 5s are incredible. I bailed on the stock dunlops at 2900 miles with a bit of meat on them and no regrets.Think Michelin Road 5 and never look back. Best set owned ever and proven themselves from Florida to Alaska at frequent higher than allowable speeds and frequent deluges. 8100 miles, no punctures. Likely a little more pricey.

Last bike I had came with grip puppies on it and I could never get over the "fat" feeling. That was an '02 zr7 that handled nowhere near as well as the fj, but with the puppies on I felt like I had way less control of the bike. I've been tempted to try the puppies on the fj so I'm curious how they fare for you.Got a pair of Grip Puppies and installed them on the bike tonight. Went on very easy with soapy water and just a little pushing. Much easier than I expected. They feel kind of fat right now, but I haven't taken them out on the road yet. I'm hoping they compress a bit with use, and I get used to the larger grip.
I'm just trying to reduce some hand fatigue on those 8+ hour day rides. I'll try riding with them tomorrow, weather permitting.

I as well said eff it and ordered these. Did you get any sort of order confirmation when you ordered? I haven't even gotten an email or anything I don't even know what order # it is. It did charge to my credit card though. The heck with it...lol. Somebody else can inquire...and they are possibly just as expensive.
I ordered the MT-09 Adventure pegs from the UK. Hopefully I don't pay too much duties or taxes.
Also for those wondering it came out to $98USD

I am so jelly of that blue it looks incredible. Wish I would have had that choice on my '17 would have snatched it up in a heartbeat. Also your forks are black from the factory? I am considering getting mine painted to fully complete the white/black look on my bike.
-
Well technically yesterday but I went for a nice looooong 200 mile ride through some twisties and got the road 5's properly broken in. These tires are effing incredible, massive step up from the stock dunlops.

I have never experienced this in 3500 miles on my 17. I also live in a pretty mild climate and seldom see temps over 85. Wonder if heat is the culprit as has been suggested?

Bike looks great xpress, definitely get the ecu and suspension done I think it will give you a newfound appreciation of the fj.
-
I'm at 3k miles, besides a rogue cel that was most likely the result of some bad gas it has been smooth sailing.
-
I thought you were joking about the fuel pump. Are you just on a never ending road trip or what?

Got mine installed a couple days ago and I think this is very well said, not too much louder than stock but just enough with a lot more bass and grunt. It's plenty loud with baffle in definitely not going to touch it.Sorry for my lack of updates. After a couple weeks of riding, I'm loving this exhaust. It's definitely louder than stock, but it's not obnoxious and is fine at constant highway speeds. Tone is a bigger difference from stock, though. It's beefier, gruntier, meaner, racier. It's a bit intoxicating and makes you wanna crack the throttle just a liiiittle bit more...
I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.
-
Man that's a good looking exhaust. Think I'm finally gonna pull the trigger.
-
Does the Yoshimura exhaust have a db killer/baffle you can remove? My only concern with this exhaust is that it might be a little bit quiet...

Recently picked up a Sedici Diego leather jacket for my summer jacket, tried on a bunch of stuff in store at cycle gear and this was by far the best thing going. I was blown away how much it breathes the first time I wore it, can't even wear it in any weather below 65 degrees because it just gets downright cold. The shoulder and elbow armor is very stout, it came with a pretty flimsy piece of back armor but luckily my d3O piece out of my klim jacket fits perfectly in the provided pouch. Would highly recommend it if you're looking for a jacket that doesn't compromise on protection but is still comfortable in warm weather.

This is perfect, exactly what I've been looking for. As soon as I bought my fj I thought having turn signals in the handguards would be awesome. As Wordsmith said - Dzell, here's a link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/172204027933
Edit: Also seems there is an orange version available. I'm assuming it wouldn't be difficult to have these function solely as turn signals yes? More or less what I was looking for. In a perfect world having the white running lights and an orange flash on activation of turn signal would be sweet.
Edit 2: Ended up just going with the white ones with the turn signal module. Idk what I was thinking with the orange, can't pass up the clean white running lights.

Makes total sense. I was curious if upgrading the exhaust without the flash killed the low end or anything like that but it sounds like that isn't really the case.
I believe the Yoshimura and Akrapovic (and maybe others) are marketed as being compatible with stock ECU and will run fine with the stock ECU settings. I have the Akra and I noticed a difference right away before getting my ECU flashed and I would assume the Yoshi would be similar. I will say that the difference between the un-flashed and flashed ECU with the Akra installed is more significant than the difference between the stock exhaust and the Akra without the flash. Does that make sense?Notice much of a difference power wise compared to stock? Probably going to get this eventually just wondering how much of a necessity it is to do the flash right away. I had read somewhere that running an aftermarket exhaust on a bike without a flash tune can be kind of funky.
I think getting the ECU flashed has been the best return on money I've spent on this bike.

I had read somewhere that running an aftermarket exhaust on a bike without a flash tune can be kind of funky.Just threw this exhaust on my FJ-09. Louder than stock, but not obnoxiously loud. Deeper, punchier tone. Easy install. Very happy with it! Sending my ECU out to 2wheeldynoworks for a reflash shortly.

Installed Adventuretech mirror extenders. These things were a breeze to install and look OEM, highly recommend.
Also installed the MRA touring screen, by far the best looking and functioning screen I've experienced so far. It is short but the "bubble" on it makes for really nice clean air around the helmet and no pushing on your chest.
-
As far as a shorty windscreen goes it works just fine, nice clean air around the helmet and whatnot. It's a little crooked, the holes are not drilled symmetrical which was kind of a bummer but it was $26 so I can't really complain too much I suppose. It's a little thin I feel, flops around a lot when you hit bumps and stuff. Also does not look as good in person as I thought it would. One thing it did for me that I'm grateful for is make me realize that I absolutely want a shorty screen. Chopped the stock one down but I took a little too much off but oh well that thing is useless anyhow.
Any feedback on the windscreen? Was contemplating calling for one via ebay.Fitted oem side bags and shorty chinese windscreen. Also replaced the stock windscreen hardware after one of the heads snapped off and another stripped incredibly easily, picked up some new bolts and rubber washers at the hardware store. They aren't black but they're a big upgrade over the janky stock offering.
