I've spent the better part of the last 20 yrs riding on metzeler and pirelli tires because of the consistent feedback (in all weather conditions) they provide which makes me a more confident rider at the end of the day. For sport touring I really like metzelers roadtec tires going back to the Z6 then Z8 and now 01. Great all condition tires (even did a track day on Z6s... heh!)

I was wondering if we should get the Metzeler Roadtec 01 HWM (Heavy Weight Motorcycles) or the standard.

    Anybody knows?

  2. I have the Shoei GT-Air and LOVE it. The drop down sun visor is very nice and the helmet is very quiet. The most important factor to consider when buying a helmet though is head shape, not all L or XL are the same, not even close.
I previously had a Scorpion helmet and after a few hours of riding it put a lot of pressure on my forehead, with my GT-Air I can ride all day long with no discomfort whatsoever, it fits like a glove.
It's funny that you say that because same thing is hapening to me: it hurts real bad after 2 hours. Sometimes I have to open it (it's modular) in order to release the pressure. Did you get the Shoei on sale? Price is not even close...

  3.
About the engine sliders. Was there any problems during installation, supplied screw lengths were OK? Any oil leaks while installing?

    - Good question, I had to struggle with it a bit because if you looked at the reviews on Amazon for the engine sliders - they don't ship it with instructions. You just receive the parts and you're on your own to figure it out. Some comments did provide information about how to go about installing it and that's what I followed.

So, the oil pump side is fairly straight forward; the bolts are all the same size and you just need to remove the 3 OEM ones and install the new bolts with the slider (You can look up the owner's manual for the torque specs if you own or rent a tool that you can do that with, but with a hex key, use your best judgement when you tighten it). If you're having leaks, chances are you're probably not tight enough or used the wrong combination if bolts i.e. different lengths.

On the stator cover side, the bolts are all different sizes lengthwise, but you only have to worry about removing the ones on the edges, where the longest one installs in the rear hole with the short spacer. The shorter long bolt goes in the front hole with the longer spacer. The two equal sized ones just install over the OME bolts, hope this helps.

HI, I also used them and had a small oil leak. The screws and spacers does not work well for our bikes so I had to ask and find others.
Finally, I removed the sliders the next year and installed givi engine guard which are much better.
I would recommand you to do so.

Watch what happens when people go down with that sliders and you will decide after that ;)

  4. Do you have a link for the foot pegs you got?

    Brackets: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/182011878799 Footpegs: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/372198863429

Turns out that it was only about $30 total now that I look at it again. For what it's worth both items feel very solid and high quality. I just needed to get some slightly shorter (M8x25) bolts and they worked out beautifully.
I wil wait until your test in order to know if the footpegs move or if they stay at the right place ^^
  5. @jeremlab its 1/8" 3M Striping tape... I just ran it along the edge of the seam where the "carbon" panels on the side cases are. Free handed it and cut it with an exacto knife... less than 5 minutes.
I'll see if I have a better picture of them...

I did it in blue following your advice and I like it very much! The Shad cases are also ready but did not mount them today.

I already did the rim with reflective tape and it match pretty well.

  6. It’s a 2 amp fuse, if you tried to use an air compressor, I guarantee you blew the fuse. If using a compressor, connect it direct to the battery terminals.
Ok so I understand that I have to replace the fuse.

After that, could I plug a 2.4a usb adapter like the one in my car: https://www.aukey.com/products/4-8a-dual-port-car-charger-cc-s1 ?
Or should I buy a new one that takes less?

  7. Yesterday, I plugged a 'certified 12V Air Compressor' to the 12v socket on my FJ-09 2015 in order to inflate the tires but it didn't work.
The I tried an usb adaptor on the socket and checked with my phone: nothing.
I am now wondering if I burnt the fuse with the air compressor or if the 12v socket was not working from the begining as it is a 2nd hand bike?

Could someone tell how to troubleshoot, please?
I know nothing about electricity and fuses yet.

The bike was powered ON when I tried all of this.

Well, that is clean and nice! Good job.

I will definitely be looking for a blue one.
