  1. Went and shot some skeet. Used to shoot competition. Haven't shot much in years but close to the purdue university trap and skeet club now. 4 time shooting this year. Lows 50's here today so went through a tank of gas. Wiggled my way around the wasbash river. Did about 20 miles of gravel and dirt rodes on the factory tires still. Great day for December.

  2. Glad your ok.

My fj was the first bike in bought that wasnt wreck by some one else.

That looks like an easy fix. Just parts. If the bike handles fine. It wouldn't cost alot to fix. Less than 500 if already painted parts. Most of the cost with be the front fairing and head light. The other stuff is cheap.

Ditch the factory hand gaurds. If you still want hand gaurds get after market. $0 if just removed.

Get vinyl wrap for the side bags that match the paint. $50-75

You can buy protective covers for the motor to hide the rash. $100-150

  3. Our bikes are a smudge under 500lbs. Most tailgates can handle at least that or more. Even so. Split the weight on both wheels and your at 250lbs. And Im 250lbs and never broke a tailgate. I have seen 400lbs guys on tail gates as well. I have owned 8 trucks and drove many others for work. Broke the rusty lift gate on my craiglist find service truck with a 2000lbs electric motor.  1200lbs was fine.

Also a quality spray on bed liner stiffens a bed up. There is a company here in indiana, i have bought products from. The sprayed a soda can and would it put under a wheel of a truck at shows to show the strength.

My dash readout isn't very accurate, so I measure mine actual miles divided by gals. On B mode I get close to 55, whereas in STD or A mode I'm in the upper 40's.  My home and office are both 3 blocks from the on/off ramp, so on my situation it's a good read on the difference - ie there isn't much by way of start/stop on either side of the commute to create a variable that needs controlling (the lane splitting is pretty much the same every day). I roll onto the fwy, set the cruise control at 68, and sit back and listen to music/books.

I do almost two tanks per week, so I've had a lot of opportunities to test this out.

I hand figured every tank till about 2500 miles and it was always darn close. 0.1 or 0.2 off. so I hand figure rarely now. you say your at 68mph. I'm at 78-80. over 75 I don't get the "eco" mode in the dash to light up no matter the throttle mode.

I thought the Tracer looked just fine without a beak. Until you see one with a beak....Now it cannot be unseen.😮

This is the exact one I ordered. Still a Chinese product, but from a USA basee supplier. That way it only took a few days for shipping. The only instructions are the ones in the lisiting. Says it is only for the '15-'18 years

The front 2 attachment points are screws into bottom of headlight fairing.  You should drill into that plastic to have the holes for screws to fit.  There's nothing above the plastic so no risk of harming anything w medium amount of care.  The back 2 attachment points are into the existing quick fastener locations.

With the one I order, i had to remove to the front small phillips screws and replace them with the supplied screws. No drilling. Just finished right before I typed this.

I commute in B mode. I have found that it gives me noticeably better gas mileage than other modes. I have 50 miles of dead straight highway, so there's very little need for quicker acceleration, or more responsive throttle.

On interstate riding (over 75mph)  I get better mpg in "A". less throttle input to get to the same speed. According the the dash read out.

Under 60mph things probably change though.

  8. Rode the niken gt again. I rode the niken and niken gt in june. I want to buy one, probably will. Went to the indoor rraces Saturday. Rode 7 different bikes sunday. Tan tan 200, niken, versys 650, royal Enfield 650 interceptor and 500 classic, Africa twin dct and lastly a Harley breakout 114.

Harley let u take your own route no guided setup. I got real silly with the Harley. That new 114 has so much torque. Did the same route royal enfield does, which was 18mins or so with a guided group. Did it in 8 mins with the Harley. Fun expensive bike.

I'll be there Saturday morning. Haven't decided if I'm riding the FJ or ST.

I'm going to try the Niken if possible, maybe an Africa Twin. Wonder if they will have the Kawasaki H2 there?

    Take the fj.

The h2 se sx, the one with bags sounds like something fun to ride.

  10. Worked at dealership for a while. When you aren't trading in and only selling. They give you nothing. It adds to the sales for inventory. And means cash money(profits) spent on something. not just loan payments on new vechile inventory.   Especially if it is a brand they dont carry.

  11. Any body making to aim expo. Yamaha has a big booth there it seems

    https://aimexpousa.com/

I would like to make it, but I dont know if I can. I had surgery on my arm at end on August. Will find out this week if I can ride.

Never been, listened to podcast of ppl talking about being able to demo every motorcycle from the manufacturers. Would love to ride the niken again. And havent been on the newer tracer to see how much better it is.

    Thoughts?

  12. Been in the new house a year now. Always lived with well water. Never had a new house and some reason ppl dont put filter in the house and just have crappy water and sediment issues.  So every house I have owned I have to install them. Well the cheap guy I am,  been waiting for a deal like this. Found a under the sink reverse osmosis system for $60 NIB on Facebook Marketplace. So I rode the bike 30 mins east to get it. By far not the largest thing I have ever put on a bike. But the squarest for sure. Lol.  Did 75mph no problem.

I have ridden in the 30's many, many times, the oem heated grips are worth their weight in gold but wearing a base layer and riding pants, I have never felt the need to spend money on a heated seat.
I will however, 100% recommended a heated vest to keep your core warm.
I bought this Tourmaster Synergy Vest with heated collar!!  It has 5 heat levels on the heater controller but even when its just above freezing, I have never needed to set it above the first click. - It gets HOT!

I have ridden fully naked bikes in 10° and colder weather with no heated anything. When I was a little younger. Im getting softer as I get older. Im only 33. I work outside. So I'm already layer up. I have tried wired gear before. Im over it. I dont want to deal with wires any more. Thanks for the suggestion I also wont ride in under 30° weather anymore. To many low sides with ice on the road. The water from a rain will run across the road during the day and freeze over night here in indiana quite abit. I may get a battery powered vest though. I were a vest when working quite a bit it does help to have your core warm. Might see about the dewalt jacket and cut the sleeves off .I have a ton of dewlat cordless batteries.
