Just got back from a vacation in Jamaica and was very surprised and happy to see that their police force was sporting bright yellow Tracer 900GTs.  I was in a vehicle driving by and could not get a photo in time but I wish I had so I could post it for you.  Didn't know Yamaha sold Police bikes.

Went for a long ride yesterday (920 km) and for the first time I noticed a bit of handlebar vibration. Not sure if it was because of the long time on the bike or because this post got me to take notice. 
 

Do they really make a big difference?  I mean it just ads a bit of mass/weight right?

First summer I rode in std mode all the time till I got used to the bike.  

I now love riding in A and don't notice the twitchy throttle like I used to at first.

Honestly I'm ok with the seat on daily or weekend trips as long as we stop every few hours to give my but a break.  I would like to have a solution for longer trips when the timing will allow.

Has anyone tried an Airhawk, gel or sheepskin pad on top of the stock seat?

I've only been riding for about 5 years now.  I'm 58 so I have a lot of catching up to do.  One of the main reasons to start riding was to be able to take some long trips and enjoy the wonderful roads we have in North America.  I live in Ontario but would love to ride through Ca and many other states when allowable.  Patience I guess.  Any map routes people can share would be awesome!

Hi Tim,

I'm 6'2" and like the seat in the upper position.  Stock shield did not do it for me so I tried the spoiler method but honestly was just a waste of money for me.  Could not get it to work at any angle.  I finally bit the bullet and bought a madstad 26".  Much better and helpful for long highway rides for sure.

Others may have had better experiences but this is my take.

Wheels are off the bike thanks to the great info I received from the forum.  Quite easy actually.

I am going to have the rims sandblasted and painted black.  Probably satin, semi gloss or gloss?  Is there a specific Yamaha black colour code that I should be considering?  What specific black is used on stock Tracers?  Thoughts or things I should consider before I do this?

We must live pretty close to each other.  Both in Lockdown too.

When I first got the bike I was adamant on painting the wheels gloss black when I got to the tire change stage.  Well I am there now and I am torn as the blue wheels have kinda grown on me. 

Will think on it some more.  Nothing but time on my hands these days!

I ran it dry and got to about 346 kms.  Std mode and driving it normally.  City and highway.

I have a Garmin gps and find that the adapter becomes loose when I plug it in the provided outlet on the bike. My Garmin uses a micro USB.

Any suggestions on hard wiring this and to where?  If I go directly to the battery I suppose it will drain the battery if I forget to turn off GPS.

Hello All,

Going to remove my wheels and bring them to a tire shop for new rubber.  I've never done this before so just a few questions please:

-I will be using the centre stand.  In what order should I remove them?  Do I need to use jack stands?

-I will use blue locktite on the threads.  What type of lubricant is best for the axles?

-Any other tips to make this go smoothly?

Update!

Last ride of the year for me yesterday.  Odometer now reads 17,150 kms on stock tires.

That's it!  Time for new shoes.

I have a 2019 Gt and have just got to the wear bars on the rear stock dunlop tires.  The front look like I could easily get another 5k.

I think this is pretty darn good.  Is this what you guys/gals are finding?

I have been researching some tire options myself but it seems like most of the adventure tires are not offered in the sizes that fit the Tracer?  The Mitas-07 and the Shinko 805 seem like good options but not sure they are offered in Tracer sizes?

Greetings all,

I have been inspired by some of the touring and adventure trips that some riders on the various forums have taken and I was curious of the approx upper km range of the bike could be.  2019 Tracer 900GT.  I read that one of our members went to Tuktoyaktuk and had to ride a longer distance between fuel stops.  

I put a small jerrycan with fuel in the hard-case and went for a few rides to experiment.  I am about 200lbs and had empty hard cases (except for the fuel).  Tires have about 10k kms on them and pressure was 33psi front and 35 psi rear.  I rode only paved roads and was a mix of back country and highway.  Very little city riding.  I rode in STD mode the whole trip and did not ride conservatively at all.

When I got over 330kms I started riding on a safe, decent road that had a good shoulder to pull off when I needed to.  330, 340, 350... finally at km 369.5 she started to stutter a bit so I shut her down and pulled over.  I thought wow that's awesome.  I usually would panic when I got to 300km and started to look for fuel.  Good to know.  I'm sure with a full load of gear, adventure type tires, and unpaved roads would yield a lower number for sure.

Anyway thought I would share.  Anyone else have some mileage range figures???

Hello All,

My Madstad arrived the other day and I can't wait to try it out.  I'm 6'3" with a 34' inseam and went with 26" screen.  Easy install and talk about a big screen!  Barn door for sure.  I will use this for highway and long trips.

I took the tip from another member and installed the stock screen to the madstad brackets to see how that would work for city riding.  Spring riding weather can't come soon enough!
