  1. It was really simple - the case shape and seat pan matched up enough to give the box really only one place it would sit.  Then I just drilled and bolted as described in the other thread.  Very low-tech.

Your method will be a lot more secure also.  The seat connection can carry a lot of down-force (person sitting on it) - but I think the shear or under tension would not be all that strong?  Dunno, but your metal straps appear quite robust.

  2. I have the HotWired jacket liner and gloves... and they are great. Big thing about these (other than price) is that the controller is built into the jacket and gloves - as opposed to needing to install a knob or buttons on the bike.  Makes swapping between bikes very cheap - the wire harness is something like $10..

I use an Antigravity restart battery, it senses if it is discharging too much and will shut off the battery. It always keeps enough stored to start the bike, you just push a button on the battery… think built in jump pack. Also significantly lighter than the standard battery.

Ditto.  Mine has been in my FJ since 2018, and I've yet to need that Restart feature.  Comforting to know it's there, though..

But yeah, a 9 year old OE battery won't live for too much longer.  Just replace it with a new Lithium one with the backup / restart capability..

  4. Cables work well in tension, not so well in compression.  Isn't the 2nd on there so you can "pull" to both open and close the throttle?  Otherwise you're relying on springs for the closing force.  Yeah, springs are pretty reliable, but...

So, as other said, the real question is why these have ANY throttle cables..

  5. I bought a semi-rare bike from a dealer in Chicago a couple years ago - sight unseen - and had is shipped with Motorcycle Shippers to me in Austin.  It was slow (like 2 months total, I think), but they did have serious blizzards to contend with.  The bike arrived without a scratch, and overall, I'd use 'em again.  They "palletize" each bike separately (not full 'crates' but also not just lose in the truck) - and it says on that pallet from pickup right to your driveway.

  6. OK - thanks for the feedback.  Yes, I suspected comparing the different flashes would be costly and probably no one ever does it.  Feedback on the various options is very helpful.

The track day was way too much fun, so I've gotten a dedicated track bike.  So, no more circuit-time for my FJ.  I'd still like to improve low-throttle response, so a flash might still be in my future..

  7. OK friends, I did a track day with by 2015 FJ-09, and loved it.  Yes, this not a "real" track bike, but that engine is totally up for it!

The limited top-end was annoying, so that's gotta go, and the low-rev on/off throttle issues are annoying.  So, I'll need an ECU flash, and I see three options here in the States:

    1. V Cycle Nut

    2. Ivan

    3. 2 Wheel Dynoworks (2WDW)

    4. DIY with FlashTune

Anyone have first-hand knowledge of the differences or benefits between them?  Recommendations?  I did search here a bit - but forgive me if this is already covered somewhere.

  8. I have not tried this bash plate, but on other bikes, the key was screwing everything in as little as possible at first - not even hand tight, just barely threaded.  If you can get all THAT put together, then nothing is bent and you can start tightening things up - a little at a time.  If you can't even get bolts to line up, then the plate was bent in manufacturing or shipping and needs the rubber mallet treatment (or return to GIVI)..
