  1. Bummer that there are no admins around here to help...
  2. It was really simple - the case shape and seat pan matched up enough to give the box really only one place it would sit. Then I just drilled and bolted as described in the other thread. Very low-tech. Your method will be a lot more secure also. The seat connection can carry a lot of down-force (person sitting on it) - but I think the shear or under tension would not be all that strong? Dunno, but your metal straps appear quite robust.
  3. OK, I give up. 32 posts and still can't list my FJ here
  4. higher is also better for the light pattern it will put out. low causes more and longer shadows and gets blocked easier.
  5. I also have the top one that DT675 posted, and find it basically unusable due to the vibes. Maybe a SERIOUS vibe dampener would help...
  6. that's pretty slick! I was thinking you could have just swapped out the seat pan like I did here, but your method pushs the tanks a littl further to the rear - closer to your tail bag... Well done...
  7. Well, bummer I still can't post to list my bike. Any moderators around that might help me learn what's wrong?
  8. Well, bummer. Still can't open a thread to offer up my bike. So, I'll just link to that at a different forum: https://www.twtex.com/forums/threads/2015-yamaha-fj-09-4900-final-price-drop.135663/
  9. I'm at 26 total posts and still can't post an Ad. My FJ-09 is ready for the next rider, but I can't offer it up here, yet... Any other limitations keeping me from being able to post?
  10. I have the HotWired jacket liner and gloves... and they are great. Big thing about these (other than price) is that the controller is built into the jacket and gloves - as opposed to needing to install a knob or buttons on the bike. Makes swapping between bikes very cheap - the wire harness is something like $10..
  11. Greetings from Austin (and sometimes Alpine). Not a lotta chatter in this US Southwest.... Weather now is simply perfect for riding, so let's get out there...
  12. One more vote for HJC - mine if F71 I believe. Very quiet and light. Decent but not amazing ventilation. Pinlock is great, sun visor included, and they are great value (IE: cheap).
  13. I'm a long-time Locus user also. I pay something annually for it, and it's very actively developed. You can sync stuff to their cloud service now, which makes it handy not only for backup, but to curate or delete routes, group 'em, etc. I think you can share tracks also, like this one, which is kinda cool.
  14. Hope your back is OK. And I'm totally NOT just posting here also to get myself over that pesky 25 post limit
  15. Ditto. Mine has been in my FJ since 2018, and I've yet to need that Restart feature. Comforting to know it's there, though.. But yeah, a 9 year old OE battery won't live for too much longer. Just replace it with a new Lithium one with the backup / restart capability..
  16. Cables work well in tension, not so well in compression. Isn't the 2nd on there so you can "pull" to both open and close the throttle? Otherwise you're relying on springs for the closing force. Yeah, springs are pretty reliable, but... So, as other said, the real question is why these have ANY throttle cables..
  17. I bought a semi-rare bike from a dealer in Chicago a couple years ago - sight unseen - and had is shipped with Motorcycle Shippers to me in Austin. It was slow (like 2 months total, I think), but they did have serious blizzards to contend with. The bike arrived without a scratch, and overall, I'd use 'em again. They "palletize" each bike separately (not full 'crates' but also not just lose in the truck) - and it says on that pallet from pickup right to your driveway.
  18. I've got an Anti Gravity 'restart' li ion batt in mine. It's been there since 2018 and is still doing just fine. Never been on a battery charger...
  19. OK - thanks for the feedback. Yes, I suspected comparing the different flashes would be costly and probably no one ever does it. Feedback on the various options is very helpful. The track day was way too much fun, so I've gotten a dedicated track bike. So, no more circuit-time for my FJ. I'd still like to improve low-throttle response, so a flash might still be in my future..
  20. OK friends, I did a track day with by 2015 FJ-09, and loved it. Yes, this not a "real" track bike, but that engine is totally up for it! The limited top-end was annoying, so that's gotta go, and the low-rev on/off throttle issues are annoying. So, I'll need an ECU flash, and I see three options here in the States: 1. V Cycle Nut 2. Ivan 3. 2 Wheel Dynoworks (2WDW) 4. DIY with FlashTune Anyone have first-hand knowledge of the differences or benefits between them? Recommendations? I did search here a bit - but forgive me if this is already covered somewhere.
  21. That's a good point. Perhaps run the skewer thru a pipe or spacer of some sort between the brackets...
  22. I like the idea. Might pick up one of these to give it a try. The stock tightening system really is bad. I went with just bolts, but would like the tool-less adjustability back...
  23. I have not tried this bash plate, but on other bikes, the key was screwing everything in as little as possible at first - not even hand tight, just barely threaded. If you can get all THAT put together, then nothing is bent and you can start tightening things up - a little at a time. If you can't even get bolts to line up, then the plate was bent in manufacturing or shipping and needs the rubber mallet treatment (or return to GIVI)..
  24. Your welcome! Could you come look in MY shop for it, next?
  25. Well done, hitness! I never would have thought to call this thing a "damper". Roadrash: cool - if you've got one, I'll take it, but is a $3 part, so don't look around for too long
