  1. Another vote for the Bagster from me. I got one with the Bultex foam option and I am very pleased with it. With the stock seat it felt like I was sitting on a church pew after 40 minutes or so. The ride back home after a day out at the coast was unpleasant to say the least. 😍

When you placed your order, you were given a delivery time frame? I visit France often and would like to order a set for delivery to my French address but want to time it right.

Hi Mingo, when I was selecting my options for the on-line order form a message popped up stating that the seat was currently out of stock but that a delivery was expected in mid January. I have added a couple of weeks or so to that for the seat to reach my address in the UK. They have an e-mail address and a contact phone number on their website. I have exchanged e-mails with Hugo who speaks english.  Good customer service so far.  CP.

After some decent mileage - my final update on the Bagster seats

Does the front seat fit with the OEM rear?  Maybe if you removed the chrome trim off the front of the rear seat but then you'd have a hole so no - not really.  Seems like they don't want to sell just the front anyway.

Does it cure the traditional Yamaha forward slope strain on the wedding tackle?  Yes - about 70%.  The spine of the seat is slightly raised and therefore more level just as Wordsmith's original photos implied.  It isn't the complete cure that my ghastly looking upward sloping homemade foam overlay was but I can live with 70% just for its better looks.

Is the sitting more comfortable?  Oh yes!  The Bultex foam option I chose (extra charge but while I was paying for a new seat, what the hell?) is very forgiving and feels ready for an epic trip or two.  I suspect even that will improve a bit as the seat cover relaxes slightly with use.  I could have added gel but I've tried gel in the past and was very disappointed.  Gel felt plain hard.  I believe it is supposed to mould itself to you but mine never seemed to.

Is it worth the money?  Nothing for a bike is ever cheap, especially Bagster products, but I'm very pleased with my purchase which does exactly what it says on the tin and looks good too.  There may be other better seats out there but how the hell do you find out except by trial (not possible) or recommendation.  I recommend it. Over to you.

Hi OLD DVB, thanks for posting the link and the follow up review. I have just placed an order with Silverstone, bultex foam and stiching in blue. They are still running the 10% discount offer and the cost including shipping to the UK was £245.00 Delivery expected towards the end of January.

    Cheers, CP

Hi all , read the comments with interest , My GT is coming up for it's first service 570 miles at the moment , not rode with my hands off the bars decelerating but I have noticed a weave/wobble when going 60/70 miles an hour with the panniers on ,  not all the time but I can feel it's there ,  bit disconcerting that all these GT's are prone to it under different circumstances ?

Hi Unclemicky, Got my new GT back in June this year. Done 2500 miles since then with the panniers fitted including some 70mph trips on the motorways. I have not experienced the weave/wobble at any speed so far.  Hope you find a solution soon.

  5. Hi Caracole and welcome to the forum. There are lots of friendly and helpful members on here. I have picked up a lot of useful information. One of the first improvement I made was to replace the stock screen on my 900 GT following the recommendations of other members, worked well for me.
    Best Wishes,

  6. Looks like that was a nice ride out to the Coast. We rode past Criccieth on the 19th of Sept heading to Pwllheli where my friend keeps his boat. I am always impressed by the Castle's on that coast, according to Google this Castle was built in the 1200s. Some of the local roads are not much wider now then they were back then 👀 lol.

The T9 is my first Yamaha for many years and I'm liking it. Had first service yesterday, so looking forward to taking the engine to the next level. Never heard before but book says there's a second break-in period up to 1000 miles. 7k rpm ish.

Speaking to a friend of mine on Friday, ex racer, he says just ride it normally. All engines are power tested at max revs in factory. To check all is good I suppose. Avoid long full throttle and just ride normal, varied revs.

Probably wouldn't mention it to dealer in a warranty claim though.

Hi DK, I picked up my new T9 GT in June and since then have done about 2500 miles. I followed the recommendations in the book which were also pointed out by the dealership. First service done on time and I have yet to find the need to go anywhere near the red line. Perhaps I am not riding it hard enough 😇

I am only a week into owning the Tracer, but I;ve noticed that 1->2 shifts are better if I do them traditionally with the clutch, then after that I can use QS.  The 1 to 2 otherwise is pretty violent and I dont like that kind of shock to the driveline.   Other than that its a nice-to-have feature that when it works well, its super fun.

Hi Clegg78, I have done about 2500 miles on my new Tracer and I agree with your observations. I tend not to use the QS for changing up from 1 - 2 but use it frequently for the remaining up-shifts. As others have noted seems to work very nicely at the higher revs. I was another one who thought I would never have a use for the the QS but I have been completely converted. Really adds to the smile factor. 😀

Used these bags inside my GT panniers today.  Very pleased with them so far.  Seem well made, come flat as there are two main zips on each side.  There are some rubbery feet and an adjustable carrying strap.  There's a zipped document type pocket on one side and a similar folder pocket on the inside.  They fit well inside the pannier and go behind the X straps.

Good value for less that £30.

Thanks for posting the link. I ordered a set and they came today, very pleased with the design and quality.

  11. Funnily enough I got my Tracer from CMC at Cannock. I was really impressed with their customer service. I took advantage of some of the additional things they offer when I purchased the bike but decided against getting Tyre insurance.  Just a few days later I picked up a nail in the rear tyre and had to buy another one.  CMC sorted it out very quickly and I did tell James (Sales Dept) that he could use my story anytime he likes lol 😉

  12. Hello HGP61 and welcome to the forum. I am based in Staffordshire and traded in my BMW 1200RT for a Tracer 900 GT in June. Really loving the power and the nimble handling that makes everything so much fun.

    All the best,

    CP

  13. I ordered a Vario Touring Screen from HPS on the 28th of August and I fitted it yesterday.  Set the spoiler in a mid position and set off for a short ride where I could reach 70mph. Stopped a couple of times to try different height settings for the screen but left the spoiler set to a mid position. There is a huge improvement compared with the stock screen. Plently of smooth air at helmet level but no turbulent rough air and there is less noise created by the airflow.  No doubt I will be able to fine tune the set up by adjusting the spoiler settings in the future.

    I am 5 ' 10'' and using a 3 year old Shark Evoline Helmet.
One step towards making a great bike even more fun!

  14. Hello everyone,

I had been riding a BMW 1200RT for several years but it was becoming too big and heavy for my ageing body. Back in June I booked a test ride on a 900 GT and ordered one on the spot. Don't ride it every day but have done about 1700 miles so far with a few all-day rides into Wales. Also really enjoying this forum with all the shared helpful comments and information. Next steps for me will probably be to swop the stock seat and the screen for something better.
I would certainly recommend a trial ride on a Tracer 900 GT for anyone who is looking for a lighter bike, value for money and with a huge grin factor!

    Cheers,

    CP
