  1. I sold mine as well. Decision was motivated by how my only street bike owning friend got creamed and almost died. No fault of his own at all.  I love the Tracer and wish I could have kept it but this is a one bike house.  Picked a practically brand new 2022 Tenere 700.  All my other friends have adventure bikes.  Figured if I can survive the trip to the forests, it will decrease my chances of being taken out by being off pavement.  So far I'm loving the slowed pace and the off-road rides.  There is so much traffic now and people simply only care about themselves. Be safe out there brothers and keep the rubber side down.

I have an SRC skid plate and have been happy with it.  I can pull the spin plate off for oil changes without removing any o the mounting bolts that are in the engine block.  I have pulled it off several times for oil changes without issue. Going to look at drilling a hole in the front so can get an extension thru to undo my drain plug so will not have to remove it for oil changes.  The Tracer 900 is a bit light in the front so a little more weight near the front wheel doesn't bother me.

I also have the SRC in black.  Has been nothing but great, looks good, and has done it's job on a few occasions.  Definitely worth every penny.

  3. Ok I got the mt-07 led turn signals on and functioning perfectly as @CJ3cyl said they would.  They look factory.  All that panic on the wiring for nothing.  Did some research on youtube to figure it out.

So for those that are going to do this. Splice the black to black an then splice color to color for the back leds.

For the fronts, the blue is the running lights so splice blue to blue.  Black is the neg so black to black. An then color to color.  Hope this makes sense. The relay posted on CJ3cyl post, the one from from revzilla, works as advertised.

  4. Ok this probably a dumb question but I don't want to screw this up....

I have to switch out the plugs on the mt-07 LEDs to the stock plugs.  The wiring colors do not match.

Mt-07 rear right side is brown and black wires.

Stock rear right side blinker is green and black wires.

This is probably a given but I have never cut wires on my motorcycles in the past, but am I to assume I splice the brown to green and the black to black?

Do I  even have to worry about polarity here?

Again probably common sense but want confirmation, thanks.

    @CJ3cyl?

Will probably ask again once I get to the three wire front blinkers😊

    Will do :)

I’ve been going down there at least once a year with the guys for over 20 years, and the past 6 or 7 years go 2 or 3 times a year and bring the wife for one of them. We’ll move there in the near future…….

I edited my post to tell a little about this year's ride.  It was great.  I agree it's a great area. Would be a cool place to retire to. This year we found out they barricaded the county during the wuhan lockdowns.  Couldn't believe it.  They said they had actual barricades on the roads blocking people from entering.  Crazy.

Meh, so many think the Cherohala is the best thing down there. It’s fine but getting as annoying as the Gap is with crap riders/drivers and it’s patrolled every time I’ve been on it. I’ll take 28, the Foothills Parkway, Devils Triangle or even better Wayah road, 215, 276, 64, 281, 107…….ok, I’ll stop now……

Heading down there in almost exactly a month. We’ll hit the Dragon most likely, but will spend the majority of our time elsewhere.

Hmmm, never experienced that on the c road. However I never go into that area on a weekend.  All you mentioned are spectacular rides. Have fun and stay safe on your next trip!

This year on the c road. Great ride into tellico, like a pseudo gp race.  On the way back to robbinsville...40 foot visibility fog with constant rain the whole ride, and big wind on the openings. It was awesome!!!

Just a thought, but take a close look at the one you received for the opposite side from your ‘missing’ signal, and see if it looks like you can get a second one of those instead.   When I put factory Super Tenere LED signals on my FJ, I found out that the left & rights have different part numbers, but the signal itself it identical…. The only difference was the length of the wiring.   If that is also the case for these MT-07 lights (which I have no idea if they are/aren’t, so you’ll need to verify), you could order a second one of the available units (effectively using two lefts or two rights) and mount it up.

Good idea!  Pretty sure  I could since it's the back one that is on back order. I think the back two are interchangeable.   However, I'm just gonna wait out the back order cuz I have been tied up lately and don't want any bike down time until winter anywho.

In March we rode the Dragon on a Friday morning around 9 am. I think I saw maybe a dozen other riders. Only downside was the "resort" was empty.

We did have a blast on the Cherohala. Zero other traffic in our direction. Just one rider to BS with at the lunch place in Tellico Plains.

Please never mention the C word again...to anyone!!! Must keep it to ourselves!

Been going to the mountains for two or three times a year for 40 years now. Discovered "The Gap" when a little old man I was helping pull his small fishing boat out of the lake at the north end said to me with some astonishment  "You like curvy roads?...go that way," pointing towards 129.  At that time it was all sport bikes and locals. A few years later I started reading about 'The Dragon' in all the motorcycle mags and the rest of the world found out about the little slice of motorcycling heaven, and turned it into the noisy, touristy, cruiser clogged, squid crashing, cop patrolled, destination that it has become.

When I go there now I kind of treat it like the big roller coaster at the amusement park. If the line is not too long...I take the ride. There are so many good roads in the area (NC SR 28 all the way into GA, Warwomen RD, Wayah Rd, NC SR 281, 215, 209,107, US 276, 64 when there is no traffic. ect) that the Gap is no longer the focus. Don't get me wrong, if your a sporty rider it needs to be done, but get a good map and find some of the real gems in the area.

So true.  Just went up there this year, didn't even ride it.  Went to the store and got some stickers, I've done it plenty of times and had no interest in riding it again, then left for much greater rides.

  10. I gave up on the perfect screen after buying a few and now run the puig sport screen ( think that is what it's called) full time.  Tried the stock with a deflector and no good.  Also have a puig "barn door" size screen but have not used it but maybe a month before last winter hit.  Hate buffeting and now just deal with a basically naked bike type scenario and all that entails.  It's as close to ideal on this bike for me as my wallet allowed.

  11. Well I received 3 out 4 mt-07 turn signals from partzilla.  They say the last one won't be here until sometime in October.  The relay from Revzilla of course came in quick.  Will be so happy to be rid of these "should not have come stock on such a badass bike" turn signals.

  12. I went with the stock MT-07 led turn signals someone posted about in another turn signal thread.  Had all the parts ordered then partzilla notified that 1 of the rear turn signals is now on backorder.  No apparent time of when it will be available.  So the other three shipped and already have the led turn signal relay.  Hopefully at some point I can get the last turn signal and install all this.  In the meantime I am stuck with the 1949 Cadillac Eldorado style turn signals.

They seem like one of the best "bangs for your buck". Curious how it pans out.

Have rode with it for about 1500 miles now. It's a good helmet. Is a little noisy when the top vent is open but I wear ear plugs so it's tolerable.  The mouth vent doesn't vent very much air so it fogs in the cool mornings. I just leave the shield cracked. Other than that it's been good so far. With the top vents it breathes well in the heat. Love the flip down dark inner shield. I would buy this helmet again

@Wallygator @PhotoAl  Gentlemen, how is the access to the oil drain bolt with the SRC skid plate for your Tracers? I looked at the photos but cannot really tell. Looking to purchase one for my 2019.

    thanks! Pete

I have changed the oil since installing. Took the plate off to do so and never even thought of trying to do the oil change with it on.  I think that would be messy. It's six bolts and the plate is off.

No where does it state it's safe on chain O rings and its hydrogenated base oils don't sound compatible

I think it may be private labeled by CRC, same as their SP350 or SP400; both I've used for decades but NEVER on chains.

Well I have used it for years on o ring chains both dirt and street, and a friend I ride with has also. My friend just replaced his chain and sprockets on his Vstrom. Not cuz the things were worn out but because he had 26,000 miles on them.  I just made the suggestion, if you don't think it's compatible and don't feel comfortable about it, don't use it.
