What do you guys think of the split instrument gauges?  For as many reviews where riders claim they are just fine, I read almost as many with riders claim they are too glossy and angled wrong and hard to read in the bright sunshine.

I'm on the positive side. They are really great and looks really good in real life too.

I installed mine today: what a garbage product. Applied the large left-screen piece and it was nothing but air bubbles, and the adhesive is so strong that it's impossible to adjust after application and trying to rub the bubbles out just creates a permanent wrinkle. Decided to install the smaller trim pieces and see what the results would be; same.

Then I read the instructions... wet install with a soap solution. Oh.

Made myself a 50/50 Simple Green & water solution, ripped off the misapplied set, cleaned surface, sprayed solution, applied new set per the instructions exactly. Perfection.

Didn't think I was going to get humbled by a screen protector install on a Saturday 🙃 even worse looking back to see that @rlambke19 mentioned doing a wet install on a post that I missed in this thread.

The small piece(s) that go above the main displays that show neutral lights and cruise control are really hard to get the air/water bubbles out due to limited space. The plastic is also really soft, it reminds me of (and probably is) the old style plastic self-healing screen protectors for phones. Solid product, 9.5/10.

    Sometimes RTFM is valid 🤪

Glad to hear it worked out for you in the end. I will try installing mine when I'm back from my current tour through Sweden.

The gauges are very down low and at a weird angle; I have to take my eyes off the road to look at it. It suffers from glare a lot more than the old FJ09 screen and isn't as bright and mines turned up to the max. The font is very legible and clean though.

I don't experience that issue at all myself. I'm 175cn if that matters.

They are much bigger than what they appear on photos and videos. Not sure people who say they cannot read the small font might have vision issues worse than mine but for me they are simply perfect.

Great angle. Great brightness. Great clarity and great looks.

Still missing Tyre pressure and remaining mileage to empty however.

Friday was a nice day. Picking up from my dealer.
After seeing all three colors I now know I did the right choice to choose red color when I ordered mine in october.

I took a run out to the Yamaha dealers on Saturday with my two riding buddy's for a look at the new Tracer 9 on the showroom floor. All i need to say is "WOW" We all loved the look of the new bike one of us that was looking to change their bike was very disappointed that the height of the bike hadn't changed. With the wider seat on the new bike I felt it was taller than My Tracer but that could be down to the newness of the suspension on the new bike. One of us who hadn't been thinking of a change of bike sat down with the sales staff to seriously discuss cost of changing. I think I would trade up in a second if I could justify to myself the costs involved in changing. The only thing that stops me is knowing that I already have a very very good bike.

    I'm a bit worried about the height. I'm 175cm.

You do realize being the first to report actually owning one that you are now the popular kid on the block and will probably get flooded with dozens of questions, my first being; fueling, how does the throttle response and on/off 'snatchiness' feel compared to the previous bike?

In fact, start a YouTube channel and make some good royalty on views. Might get it to finance your purchase 😎🤓

We are famous for Volvo, IKEA, meatballs and beautiful women ;)

He asked me if I was from sweden and he told me where he is from and when his bike is delivered :)

    Yep.

And it appears that some Yamaha dealers here in Sweden has received the non GT version but the GT seem to be heading in last week of May/first week of June.

It's almost time to start counting down the days 🙌🤪

I enjoy being "in the wind' while riding as much as anyone but there is a HUGE difference between wind and buffetting.  NO rider enjoys buffetting.

True. Feeling the wind on you vs having your head tortured and slapped... it's a difference

The “snatchy” throttle goes away after you figure out how to control your wrist. Buffeting....only sissy’s complain about the wind when they’re riding a motorcycle.

Agree about buffeting. There's enclosed cars if you want to kick back and relax. 😄
