  1.   I tend to leave my bags on for most trips, it’s nice to carry small stuff like bottled water, visor cleaner, tire gauge, lighter or heavier gloves, etc., they end up just rattling and flopping around in the side cases. Also, ya never know when my travels may take me to a brewery I’ve never been to and I may need to pick up some samples! Has anyone come up with an idea for some sort of organizer for small items? I had the liners for my FJR,  it they were useless for anything other than removal to carry as they had to be removed for access.

    Thanks,

    Tim

I'm 6' 2" tall and found the stock screen acceptable for wind protection but the noise from the deflected air stream was a killer. I installed one of the cheep smaller deflectors with the single attachment point which cured my issues with the noise. If you have the same problem, hold your hand up over the screen while you are on the road as if it was a small deflector. If that changes things to the point you can live with it, it is a much cheaper solution.

I did have a Madstad installed on both my Vstrom and Tiger 1050 and they are great but damn expensive.

I also love using my Pueg fly screen with the handguards removed in warmer weather.

I did exactly that. My finger are roughly a 3.5” extension and made a big difference.

    Thanks!

  3. I was sold on the MadStad 24”, but not only is it $319 but they want $25 to ship it to me. I found J&P cycles is a dealer for MadStad, thought the shipping may be better, but they don’t list one specifically for the Tracer.

That said I’m now looking at the Yamaha touring windshield, which is 3” wider and 3-1/2 taller, and get this, only $179.

Anyone have any experience with this windshield?

    thanks,

    Tim

  4. I have a Joe Rocket textile jacket that I bought in 2007. It’s been through a Bandit 1250, DR650, FJR1300, Goldwing, TW200, and now I’m wearing it on my Tracer 900 GT. Got some miles on it and every pad except for he back has crumbled. Definitely my favorite for durability, I will be ordering new pads. My last AGV sucked, it fell apart at the seems. I also have one that has the Goldwing logo that’s lighter weight, can’t remember the mfg but it seems to be a good jacket.

That's my bike.  Another poster correctly identified the highway pegs, however I have since changed over to GIVI crash bars.  More options for mounting the pegs and other accessories.

Good news for me because it looks like the GIVI offers more protection for the lower case and even some for the plastic, but I was concerned about the peg placement not begin forward enough.  Curious though, what model is your bike and did you use the TN2122 or TN2139? The 2139’s that are supposed to be for my gen  Tracer appear smaller and I was wondering about the coverage.

Tim, welcome to the forum. I live in Fletcher NC, half way between Asheville and Hendersonville and have a 2019 Tracer GT.  Lot's of good roads in WNC. Look me up when you're in this area and I can show you some great roads.

I bought the bike in Hendersonville, nice folks that run the Yamaha shop there! We’ve not ridden that far south, but it’s coming, we are normally above Asheville around Damascus and Bristol for weekend rides.

I will post once installed and let you know how it works. Keep in mind I'm coming from a Goldwing with a windshield 2ft wide and 3ft tall!

Glad to see this post and will be following. I too am coming from a Goldwing and just picked my Tracer up yesterday. In the short ride I did yesterday my head is right in the turbulence zone and it was slightly annoying even with my Shoei GT Air.

  8.   I just picked up my Tracer 900 GT yesterday from a shop 3-1/2 hours away! Very few 2020’s out there and the deal I got was worth the drive! Got home just after the rain and just before dark so I took it for a quick spin and love it so far. It was a little chilly and I couldn’t figure out how to turn the grip heaters on while riding, figured it was time to go home and RTFM.. I’ve been riding since the 80’s and have 3 bikes now, a TW200, a Goldwing GL1800, and now the Tracer. After 5 elbow surgeries over the last 10 years from injuries and arthritis it was time to switch back to a lighter more nimble bike, that and the wife doesn’t wanna ride anymore, so the Goldwing is now for sale. My first Yamaha was an FJR and I loved  that bike, it was a 2009 and my only complaint was lack of cruise control, and I decided the wife would be more comfortable on something bigger and less sporty, so I sold the FJR and got the Wing. My new Tracer seems to be a good mix of features between the GW and the FJR, though after yesterday’s ride I may miss the wind coverage some days. 😜

Expect my next post to be about larger windshield or adding additional coverage to stock.
