  1. In the interest of science ,I conducted a speed test today with a GPS Speedo attached on a closed road of course .Mine easily pulls up to 125 mph and continues up to 131 mph according to the gps.LCD screen was showing 137 mph .I am also using superlube  x1 in my niken now and have seen a good increase in average mpg 51 mpg on the last 4 tankfuls and I was not being careful to achieve this .

Interesting aspect about the proper stored speed rated tires for the Niken, it would appear that there's only one seller of V rated tires for the front  tires and that's the Bridgestone A41s.

Found the following table at a website that shows tire speed ratings.

Tire speed rating is the max speed tires can safely carry the weight of your...

The H rated tires are for speeds up to 130mph while the V rated are Rated for 149.

Here in the US I can never get anywhere close to H rated speeds (much less V rated speeds) unless I'm on a racetrack, which I doubt the Niken can even  hit 149mph due to its large front end aerodynamics.

Incidentally - anyone ever test the top speed of a Niken?

Yes the top speed displayed was 134 mph which will have a real speed of 129mph which is the speed the niken is electronically restricted to .

  4. I was out on a run yesterday 250 plus miles and my pillion complained that the wind noise was the worst she had encountered on any bike as pillion .I decided to the remove the gt screen and the wind noise for the pillion disappeared .

  5. I was present when the dealer fitted the tyres ,the bike was on the centre stand .He removed the rear mudguard plate holder first which was a pain ,then the rear wheel. This allowed the front to be lifted a few inches so the front wheel s could be removed. He has a hoist in the shop with a soft strap to support and lift the bikes slightly while on centre stands .

  6. Initial findings after having pr4 gt fitted to the rear and pr4 scooter to the front .They felt really strange for the first 50 miles, then they just started to work and got better after a few more heat cycles .Stability feels much greater than the A41.Definitely more feed back from front and rear.GT carcass is more ridged and you can feel it so a play with the shock settings is needed .I will be doing 250 miles tomorrow with pillion and luggage so will dial them in better. In the wet they are just as great as I remember .

  7. I will be getting an ecu flash to adjust similar within the  present parameters just to tailor it to my needs .I've read other reviews that really feel it has unleashed the real performance of the niken by slicing it up a little especially if combined with a decat .From past experience on other machines when decated on standard pipe ,I have been pleasantly surprised by better fuel consumption across the board .

  8. I found the standard gt screen to be ok but created a lot of wind noise around my helmet .I've added an extension which does improve things a little .I will retro fit something at a later date to remove the wind noise .My forerunner had a givi airflow which was brilliant .I've also had great results with powerhouse screens in the past .

  9. The majority of tyre ware in my experience is down to the way we ride and the tyre choice we make .My tyres will need changing soon and I will fit something diffrent from the A41 ,not because they are crap but because they don't suit the way I ride and the fact that the carcass on the rear does not aid comfort .Because the niken is a 3wheeler I may well mix and match the front to the rear .This is not a problem as the front and rear are not inline as per 2 wheels where the front is design to work in conjunction with the rear especially tread pattern to evacuate water from the path of the rear etc .I personally feel that the rear shock has a lot to do with rear tyre ware rate mainly on the damping side .I found mileage improved by reducing preload completely and backing the compression right down also made the tyre ware more even and have me greater grip with a 210lbs rider plus luggage.
