I had an odd odor from my bike after I switched to GL-5 gear oil to lube the chain. I wasn't getting the chain wiped down good enough after application and it would fling off the excess at the countershaft area and run down onto the exhaust.
Hope you get yours sorted.

Thanks for taking the time to write your trip up, the pictures brought a lot of memories back too. I have done a lot of the territory you covered but not all of it. I'll take notes for my next time out there.
I thought it was pretty lame of the shop to have sold your tires out from under you before you got there...

I was wiring a brake light for my golf club carrier and connected hot to ground. All the lights went out. Disconnected the new brake light, replaced the fuses and the lights are now working. But the check engine light came on once i started the engine.
Which two fuses blew ? I can understand the lighting circuit fuse blowing. Which hot wire did you short to ground ?

It's not worth the effort to worry about.
He probably thought you were just some young hot shot that would try to run from him. Go for a ride, stop to have some pie and coffee.

If shipping UPS always be sure to go to the UPS terminal to ship. Never go to "The UPS Store", their shipping will be about 30% more.

Put your GPS wires into the plug and turn the key on.

Undo the clip and don't loose the split rubber spacer grommet.

HD makes a great touring machine, I enjoyed the Road King I had before I bought my Tracer. Best part is dealer network while traveling if you do happen to need something.

Yamaha made quite a few significant changes to this year model bike. I suspect they won't do a whole lot for next years bike save for some different color choices. But I have been wrong before !

I agree, start with the battery terminals. Hope you find one loose !

What year was that T7?
I didn't look at the hang tag so I don't know, bike was black. M.R. Cycles in Asheville.

I was in a dealer in Asheville N.C. last weekend and looked at the T7 they had on the floor. If one was leaning toward a lot more off road type riding it looked like it would fit the bill well. It was just too minimalist for my current riding style. Tall and narrow seat doesn't look like it would be comfortable for hours on end riding. Not much wind or weather protection as well.

Post more pictures of the right and upper portion of the motor.

I am able to Lower or Raise seat heights, add Luimoto Gold Gel for long distance comfort, add a memory foam topper for short distance comfort, and make custom seat covers with any design or style that you like such as diamonds, channels, and spider webs.
As a licensed expert racer I have insight into more than just the upholstery portion of the bike seat, such as the grip of the vinyl cover, the type/quality/firmness of foam to use so that you can ride in the proper geometry of the bike for smoothness and comfort while maintaining the ability to feel the rear tire when it moves on you.
Be aware that on the Tracer seat, that you cannot make it completely flat because you are limited by the shape of the seat pan, and I do not recommend just adding parts/pieces to the front or back of the seat where it clips/screws in unless you are willing to modify your suspension settings to allow for proper riding geometry.
Feel free to ask me questions as I am honored to be a part of our community.
If I can be of assistance with questions or want me to work on your seat I do ship all over the world. Turnaround time is always quick so we can get right back out there.

Hi, I have posted this problem on my 2018 Tracer 900 GT before, but have had no joy.
The bike very slightly hunts at only fixed throttle, as soon as you accelerate or ride fast 8000 revs plus perfect.
It is worse at low revs 3000 revs in 1st and second gears and 4000 revs in 3rd and 5000 revs in the higher gears
only when cruising at a fixed speed. Fitted new plugs and Air filter, just so annoying. I have had the bike 3 years
and done 14000 miles. It has been a brilliant bike, until now. So took it to a Yamaha Main Dealer they had it for a
hour and road tested it as well, result Nothing wrong , yes it does have a slight misfire now and again, but MOST
Tracer 900 GT's suffer just the same. We could spend hour's on it and still find no fault.
I know it is a fueling problem, so the only answer I think is to junk the standard exhaust and fit a sports exhaust
then get the E.C.U. set up on a Dyno Rolling Road. But at 76 years old, and on my 39th bike I want to just ride now
my days of spannering are coming to a end. And being retired for 10 years I only have a pension.
So it looks like bye bye Tracer and back to Honda's
Sorry about moaning just wanted to get this off my chest.
Cheers Edgar Jessop.
Which ride mode are you in ? Does it do the same thing in all three ride modes ?

Run your bike VIN through this online purchaser and get a rough idea of the value. I’ve never used them; but, who knows? Your bike looks great and is nicely accessorized. I would think it to be worth $8000-9000 to an individual.
I sold a Mazda CX 5 to Carvana last November for way more than it was worth…..I know their business model is in trouble recently. It was an online deal that went super smooth.
I got a quote from those guys when selling my Harley last year, it was absurdly low. I sold it to a Harley dealer for $4K more than the Rumble on offer.
It may not be the same for all manufacturers...

I'll second the mention of removing and selling the extras separately.
As far as trade value, you would best served to just figure out what you would settle on for the trade difference. That's the only number you should be concerned with, "your out the door price" They can play games with all the numbers they want to regarding fees etc. Just figure out what you're comfortable with as trade difference and go from there.

You should call the 1-800 Yamaha customer service number and get a fire lit under someone's behind.
Tell them you bought the motorcycle for transportation, ask them in a nice but firm and respectful manner to provide you with alternate transportation while your motorcycle is waiting to be repaired.

You could drill the head off of it leaving the rest behind. You would be able to remove the panel at that point.

How do you remove the side cover from the OEM hard cases? It looks like the hinges are riveted...
Drill out the rivets if the hinge pin is not removable.

So here is my question...
If we are going to adjust pre-load up n down to get what "feels right" when riding, why bother to initially set pre-load for 45mm of sag?
Is the sag setting a motorcyclist myth or what?
Sag is the baseline setting with your particular weight on the bike. Easier to reach your desired outcome with a known quantity than just poking in the dark blind so to speak.
Preload setting will vary according to total suspension travel, you typically want about 30%
