Yeah that was a good price on the Tracer.  I got a $1k discount on mine because the dealer had three 21s on his floor and had been sitting there for a few weeks unsold.  Like your dealer, after these three sold, the price went back up and they now fetch an additional $1300 dealer premium.  With CA taxes, my OTD was $17,500.  Ouch.

I do love the bike, but like you I would seriously consider trading it for the Suzuki.  If I could afford it.

    My OTD was $13,500

    🤑Nash powersports in Mesa wants 18K OTD for a 2022 Red 9GT🤑 that's after applying a $500 gift card offer🤣

Insane!   Check out Cycle Trader. There is a dealer in Ca selling bew T9GT for 11,900 right now and others across the nation coming down in the 12 k range. I drove 1080 miles from NC to Cleveland to pick mine up.

No I don't think so, same QS on all models: MT-09; XRS 900 and 9GT.....

The '23 T9GT+ has an improved QS (Gen 3) where now you can down shift at any throttle setting and do not need to close the throttle before a downshift as on the current Gen2 QS. That is a significant improvement of the utility of the QS!

In 1974 my ride was a 72 Suzuki GT750 Water Buffalo.  One day, I stupidly took my nearly 2 year old son on a ride, setting him on the fuel tank and holding him there against my body and between my arms.  It felt fairly safe to my 24 year old stupid head.

A few miles down the road (Austin, TX) I was pulled over by a LEO.  He politely explained that carrying my son on a motorcycle in such manner is not only stupid, but illegal.  No ticket, just a warning.

Fast forward.  Son is now 50 years old and recently bought a used Sportster.  Out of the blue, he wanted to learn to ride.  He lives in Albuquerque.  I rode out a couple times to help him, as he was having some problems figuring out the controls.  On the second trip, he was riding well enough that we were able to take a ride together down to Silver City, and then up the western roads north and west of Silver City.  It was a wonderful ride, lovely weather, and a certain joy felt in seeing my son, at age 50, take the rather large plunge into riding.

My second bike (after my GT250) was a 1975 Reimo GT750 (famous German Suzi GT tuner in the day). Mildly warmed over to 82 hp. This pic was taken in early 1978 when I just got her.

  5. I am 61 now and been riding since I was 16 .... I can tell you YES, my riding skills have diminished noticeably since my 30s and 40s, but I also have cooled down a whooooooooooole lot form those days. So I am all good. I just LOOVE getting my 16 year old son introduced to the sport! Just got him a KTM 200 Duke for starters.

Came back to this posting after reading about the 2023 may not be imported.  Contemplating what will that mean.  Yea the GT+ has some interesting features Emergency Braking, ACC and new display but otherwise doesn't seem to be that different.  Now may not be a bad time to buy.

@LarzI'd hate to see what the other dealer is like but can imagine as seems like there  are some bad ones out there.  Anyone old enough to remember the Dodge dealers of old - "what price could I sell this POS to you for today" 🙂   Do wonder if they were working on remedying the issues but parts hadn't dome in yet.  I'd rather see a bike with a problem that is easily fixed than no bike at all.

I think the display and the much improved QS Gen 2 are the items that would interest me most. Radar cruise? Eff that!

    Whhhaattt?

This is a thing over there? Would be laughed out of the dealership if you even though about asking for that here.

Well, it's true ... the reason is that US people are the dumbest lot on earth when it comes to money ... List price of a bike here is the starting point; then B.O.H.I.C.A sets in: add $850 in freight, $400-800 in "Dealer set up costs" and $500 in documentation fees. On top of that sales tax on everything. CONGRATULATIONS! You've enjoyed being BF'd and welcomed it!  e.G. On BMW GS bikes the dealers here mark them up $2 to $3k PLUS those fees and the bikes are sold before they are assembled in the shop. American customers love to bend over and take it up the rear end; then go online and complain about inflation and socialism. W_T_F! We are the dumbest nation on earth. So why would dealers provide loaners or let you test ride a bike. No need! We pay any price up our  @$$es. Insane here. We Americans a dumber than $#!t when it comes to money!

I bought my Tracer 9 GT in July of 2021.  After several issues which had the bike laid up for over 6 months they finally have it right, well almost.  I find their latest ECU reflash to suck, you know, the one from the recall.  The bike runs terrible when cold and there's a flat spot in the powerband that's very noticeable when accelerating hard from second gear at low revs.  I would tell you at what RPM's but I can't begin to see that sorry ass TFT that Yamaha decided to give the bike. The bike also has a strange trait when engine braking.  It will slow down as expected but then the compression just seems to release itself causing the bike to lurch forward just a bit.    My latest complaint is that Yamaha has made hardly any accessories available for the bike.  I want the heated comfort seat but it isn't available in the states.  While I find the Tracer 9 GT to be a great bike I must say that I enjoyed my 2015 FJ09 a lot more.  I was just more fun.  I'm not sure how long I'll keep the Tracer, this one has just left me with a bad taste, especially the way Yamaha has decided to run their enterprise.

I'm waiting til the new Honda NT1100 becomes available.  Hopefully I'll find that more to my liking.  Sorry for the negativity but my latest attempt to get the seat mentioned earlier has me pissed.

If anyone else is experiencing the flatspot in the powerband or the lurching when engine braking please let me know.

Move on ... buy something else and spare us the whining

  9. I continue to immensely enjoy my '22 T9GT I bought for $12,249 at the end of September ... was lucky ... delaer had gotten delivery of 7 redline T9GT and was worried he wouldn't sell them before winter so he knocked $3k off, sold four including mine and then raised the price to $13,999 again .... anyways ... if I had to shop for a bike again today I probably would go with the Suzi GSX-s 1000 GT+
