  1. Awesome! I was wondering if you had a chance to install it and how it went. Glad it went well!
  2. Question? Why is this modification being done? Do you go off road? Are you jumping the bike? I have the Gen 1 oil pan, but it seems that unless I take it off road or run over something large in the road this is a non-issue. Please advise. Some people have reported puncturing their oil pan going over speed bumps. So, it's not necessarily off roading. I was fortunate to never have a problem before I traded my FJ. They redesigned the oil pan (well moved the drain) on the XSR and put the drain on the side. But, you still gotta watch how hard you torque the bolt. Someone's already crack his pan over tightening it (but still staying below factory specs).
  3. So, in the last 2 days, I've seen (I think the same) gray FJ twice. Once on Greenville by Walnut Hill and once on NW Hwy by Walling - both in Dallas. Anyone here?
  4. My dealer has offered me use of an XSR for a few hours while mine is having its first 1000km service shortly. I'll probably take him up on it - it will make for an interesting comparison. [em]Wordsmith[/em] You should. I'd be curious what your thoughts are. I'm still VERY new to motorcycles, so I'm not even sure how to compare them properly.
  5. Hey cman, are you saying you got an XSR-09 in ADDITION to your FJ-09? A) Wayyyyy jealous B) What's the comparison? FJ better longer rides, XSR better city and Both equal but in different ways in the twisties????? The CP3 is such a visceral motor, it seems it would lend itself to many applications. ( I had a 2014 FZ. Replaced it with the FJ. Both are extremely engaging. The FZ was most notable for its light weight (415 full tank), but the suspension was calibrated for someone under 175 #'s. FJ has a great instrument cluster, center stand, ABS & TC and the suspension is firmed up, but could be better. Both move through twisties quite enjoyably ) The "slipper clutch" looks interesting (never had one), but not really liking the reduced info cluster and no center stand of the XSR. Tell us more. Please...... No, no, I traded in the FJ-09. I just wasn't using it like I thought it would (long trips, carrying stuff, etc.) and after riding a naked, I was amazed at how quiet and calm a bike could be from a wind noise / buffeting perspective. Also, the XSR just spoke to me. I really like the styling. As far as a comparison, I've only put 60 miles on it, so I only have some initial thoughts. The XSR is very quiet in the wind noise department and very stable. I haven't taken it on any twisties (not even sure there are any in Dallas that would qualify), but I think she's going to be just as nimble as the FJ-09. She definitely wanted to turn into a couple of turns where I was playing around a little, but the FJ would have done the same. The suspension/ride seems more comfortable on the stock settings than the FJ was. The FJ seemed harsh over bumps with the stock settings (I'm 210-220#), the XSR seems to soak up the bumps better. That could be a combination of the different seat and the suspension though. It certainly never made me "nervous" in the few corners I took and on a couple of the rougher roads I rode on, it was easier to control the throttle. That last bit (about throttle control) could also be that I think they've smoothed out the fueling / throttle even more. I've read how snatchy the FZ-09 is (was?) and how the FJ-09 is much better. But, even the FJ can be snatchy at low throttle inputs especially on rough roads. That was a big reason I had 2wheeldynoworks flash my ECU. The XSR is very smooth and I had no problems over the same roads I would take the FJ over! She still has pep, don't get me wrong and once I've got a few more miles in her, I'll play around with A mode. But, in STD, she's smooth.
  6. I gotta say the only time the FJ's seat bothered me was towards then end of a 260 mile out trip I took. But, I race bicycles and if you've seen the seats on those, well... you get the idea. I now have 60 miles on the XSR and it definitely is comfortable. I plan to do some longer rides this weekend to help eat up the break-in miles.
  7. Welp, today, I traded it... Just a hair over 4,000 miles on it and decided I wanted to go naked (since all I do is commute and the wind noise/buffeting was really getting to me). So, I got me one of these... It's REALLY nice! I hope I can still keep coming around here though...
  8. I like that @paladin. I've got a CB in my truck (for off-roading and cross country trips) and like it. I've also got a Midland CB lying around that maybe I'll put on the bike if/when I take it to Richmond.
  9. I've had mine for a couple (few?) weeks now and I'm really enjoying it. I've got mine in the middle position. At the highest position, it sounded like the wind was whipping/tearing over my helmet. Moving it down a setting has taken care of that and it still blocks enough wind. When it warms up, I'll move it down the to lowest setting.
  10. Installed my Givi D2122S Windscreen yesterday and rode it in today. It's a nice looking windscreen.
  11. Oh, and on another, funny(?) note. Mine came in a regular cardboard box and the screen was well packed. BUT, I put the box in the garage, sorta out of sight and out of the way. Still, when my girlfriend saw the box (it was the first thing she noticed when she went out there), her words where, "Fragile"... like from the movie, lol.
  12. Just got mine in yesterday and put it on the bike. It really looks nice and I like the "feel" of it. Thicker and feels like it's a quality screen. My commute this morning was only 12 miles, but it felt better than the stock and better than the Ermax I have. It was dark and (somewhat) cold, so I didn't spend too much time trying to figure out where the wind was hitting my helmet, etc., etc., but it did seem a little quieter and a little less buffeting on the 5 miles of tollway I took. Looking forward to the 67 degree ride home and seeing what I think of it.
  13. Just "bought it", waiting for the total cost before eBay will let me complete the transaction.
