  1. Installed the Calsci large today (+7.5"). It works with stock handguards. I didn't get a chance to test it out on the highway yet, I'll do that tomorrow. I am 6'3".

    I bought it used and I think it was missing some of the rubber mounts to rest against, so I'll have to hit up calsci for more.

    New one is a good 7.5" taller:

  2. @rocky5000100 those were measurements you had done? The stats I'm seeing says 96@25d for the 05R6 which is perfectly in line with pretty much every sport bike of the last 15 years across all brands. The '05 GSXR750 had 23.8deg rake with short trail and Traxxion makes extended length fork caps for that series to get the Rake back under control (somewhere around 24.5).
    I'm not saying 100@24 is guaranteed under any and all designs to be a problem, there's more to it than that. But it's a very questionable design choice for anything that isn't a full-tilt sportbike.

    So if your bike is properly balanced, and you like going really fast and especially with luggage, and you want to push past the weave/wobbles, you probably want a damper. Just don't expect it to save you once you go over the inflection point.
    Those were from Wikipedia, but must be wrong because other sites I'm seeing now say what you're saying.  Whoops! I definitely see a damper, and other suspension upgrades in my future.

  3. My 2005 R6 had a Rake and trail of 24°, 86 mm. The R6 is well known for it's good turn-in, and it always felt stable at speed to me, and I've had it on the track. The newer R6 has 24°, 97 mm.

    I don't know enough about rake and trail to comment further haha.

    Edit: Just read this article, which summarizes things well.

  4. The other day, I replaced the forward frame sliders I installed for highway pegs with passenger pegs from an XS650 Yamaha. The only modifications needed were several flat washers to fill the frame insert and a 5mm longer bolt for the left side of the frame since that insert is deeper than the right side. Works like a charm, fold flat when not in use and since they're black, they blend right in with the engine. Cheap, too.
    Pics?
  5. @wessie
    That sounds like it works, but I'd like to avoid that clip-on if I could. I'm not a fan of how it looks. But if that's what I need to do, then I will

    @perporter
    I look forward to the pictures of the madstad. For me it's between that and the Calsci large.

  6. Is there a consensus on the best windscreen for a 6'3" person?

    The stock screen is best in the low position for me right now,hitting right at the bottom chin of my helmet, but it's still kind of loud. If I put my hand up on top of the windshield, I can successfully deflect the air over my head and make it very quiet. So is there a screen that's 4-6 inches taller than stock?
