  1. 40,000 km service done (24,855 miles).
     
    Valve clearance required adjusting on the exhaust - cyl 2 lobe 1 & cyl 3 lobe 1 were both out heaps.
    The local bike shop in North Sydney was open and I was lucky he had a couple of shims in the right size......phew!
     
    Brake pads are still good but were very grubby, took me ages to clean them (and those baby bobby pin clip on the front is a PITA to remove and replace), replace the air filter, replaced spark plugs with Iridiums (so should be good for 100,000km  :) ) oil & filter, loobed all the pivot points and levers, adjusted the new DID VM chain (only went on 4000km ago) gave everything the once over.
     
    Have to thank my hubby for doing the valve clearances for me!!!! (although I did record all the clearances and hunted down the shims), the rest I did myself!
     
    Oh, and for the first time since I've owned the Tracer-FJ09 I was able to get it in the centre stand all on my own.
     
    Busy weekend bu very satifying and just a little chuffed with myself  :)

  3. Still have my very first and original pair of Australian made Rossi boots - they are very comfy but have not real ankle or shin protection.
     
    Next up was SIDI which I worn out (had the sole replaced twice) but with age (mine) my foot has widened and they were no longer comfortable. These were great boots. Heaps of angle and shin protection and waterproof (until I wore the toe out).
     
    Currently wearing Dainese Ladies Tempest D-WP boots are they are great. Very comfy and waterproof (have tested them in extreme weather conditions here is Oz and not a drop got in). The sole is this new Skywalker Tread which when you first wear sticks (as in doesn't slide freely) to the pegs but after a couple of wears they are just like the old pair and I can freely move my foot around on the pegs without any issues at all. Able to wear them all day long without any sore spots - so happy camper.
     
    I also have a friend who has this boot in the Male sizing and is also extremely happy with the fit and performance.
     
     
     
     
     
  4. Being a new member and in Australia thought I should show up here too. I have the 2015 tracer user manual and service manual as pdf's. The service manual is nearly 33 megs and I only mention that because some email servers limit emails to 20 megs, so if I can help a fellow rider out let me know.
    Where about in Oz are you bee???
     
    Service manuals are always a handy thing to have. Pending where you are could come for a ride with a USB make a bit of adventure of it.
     
     
     
  5. Schubeth C something and love it.
     
    I have a pin head (XXS or XS depending on brand) so there aren't many helmets that tend to fit my head properly - Shark I've found fit the best and have been my preferred choice until the Schubeth. The only thing I find is it fogs up a bit. There are pinlocks available for it but I haven't as yet purchased.
     
    With all the vents and visor shut, it's so quiet that I can actually hear the engine sound now instead of the wind noise (after installing the taller screen).
     
    They are pricey here is AUS @ around $900+ (I managed to get mine on sale) but when I need a new helmet again, I would spend the money.
     
     
     
     
  6. Am pleased to say that the fork conversion on initial testing (no luggage) after reducing the preload by 1 ring and damping by 4 clicks. 

    fork conversion? Please tell me more... Traxxion or something similar?
    I purchased a spring & valve kit from pattonme at Forks by Matt. 
     
    I don't understand all the technical jargon, my hubby does all that for me and talked the talk with pattonme (for which I am very grateful).
     
    But as I've said on my initial test on the weekend, it has made a vast difference and I will have a better feel for it after this weekend when I get back from my FarRide.
     
     
     
     
     
  7. Went for a ride to check out the new GPS mount (above the instrument cluster) and suspension settings (as mentioned in previous post). Am pleased to say that the fork conversion on initial testing (no luggage) after reducing the preload by 1 ring and damping by 4 clicks.
     
    Next week going on a decent ride loaded up (approx 1500km) so that will be the true test. But at least I have a good starting place (hopefully won't need to tweak anything).
     
     
  8. Changed the spark plugs today.
     
    A couple of weeks ago though, my hubby did a front spring conversion for me (to help take out the wobbles in the front and plant it on the ground a bit better.

    Due to our crappy weather in Sydney, AUS  I haven't had the opportunity to get out for a ride to test it all out.
    Fingers crossed for either tomorrow or Monday.
     
     
     
  9. Ordered some Grip Puppies. 
    Have worn out the left pussy grip http://fj-09.org/post/29932/thread
    and after comparing @wordsmith 's grip puppies vs my pussy grips, discovered that the GPs are much thicker,
    so should last longer without wrapping tape on my handlebars.
     
    But the Pussy Grips have a better name !

     
    That's because Pussy Grips are for girls.......doh!  (rofl)   we have a softer touch.

  10. Kimmie can you either link to what you found online or explain how you wired a relay to work for the negative switch? I would really like to get my Clearwater LEDs to switch to the max brightness when I switch the high beams on.

    I can't take the credit for this......my super wonderful hubby Karl is the genius and figured it out.
    When I get home, I'll ask him if he do a detailed response to the forum.
    Hopefully that will help you.

  11. So I thought I had this problem licked. I got a NO/NC relay with 5 pins so as the 12V on the yellow wire drops off, the relay, would power up the other terminal (87a). I just finished wiring with this method and it does not work. as the 12V drops off, it still has a small voltage and seems to hold the switch open! Works fine with a 12V feed from the battery. Grr
     
    Any electrical engineers out there? Or could you doc explain more about what you propose? I hesitate to connect earth to the yellow, which to me is a short?

  12. Well, beautiful riding weather on the weekend and got out yesterday to test the front end.
     
    Out through Mt Keira - Mt Marshall - Mac Pass - Jamberoo - RNP - home...a nice little 380 odd kays.
     
    Packed up with the seat bag (which carries all my tools and equipment) and top box with 3 days riding clothes (which is how I would normally travel for a trip away) and I can report that the front was much more settled than previous adjustments. Had a couple of decent bumps and the front didn't seem to skip out or wobble around (as opposed to any other bike). I felt quite comfortable and there was no poggo stick (diving) action under normal braking conditions. Hard braking and you still get a bit of diving but even on my Blackbird, if you hit the brakes hard she dove in - so this seems to be much better than previous also.
     
    I might look to harden up the preload on the forks by 1x ring only (approx 2mm) and see how I go on the next run out.
     
    I am keeping a record of the adjustments I'm doing (including comments) so I have a record to go back to, if whatever the last adjustment doesn't suit me - then at least I have a base line.
     
    Now to start working on building confidence on the Tracer taking the twisties and getting my ride fitness back!!

    Yet to buy a Tracer, but getting closer. I really should sell the Blackbird and Ninja 300 first. That leaves me an FJR1300, the Super Tenere and the TMAX scoot.

    I really love Dudley, but am still sorting the front end. Hopefully now the rain has stopped I can get out on the weekend for a run to see how he goes in the standard suspension set-up (as per the book) with the lowering links, my seat bag & top box with a bit of weight in it (as that is how I would normally travel).
     
    Knowing you, you are reading all the technical detail about the suspension before making your decision. There is so much but most have changes the rear shock/spring and put heavy spring rates in the front forks.
     
    Karl installed the SW-Motech crash bars the other night and look the goods. I just need to sort some lights ready for Feb.
     
    Cuddles had a grey one when I last spoke with him which will be set to stock out of the box.
     
    But listen, if you want to take Dudley for a short run you are welcome too - you know how to find me  :D
