I, too just got back from Deal's Gap. Put a lot of laps on the Tail this year. Great riding, as always.

Were you staying at Fontana?  I saw one there while out running one morning.

  2. Update:
I have done the tb sync and thought that the problem may be corrected, but I was wrong. I have ridden the bike numerous times since the sync, varying weather and this morning the temps were much cooler and the bike started having issues again. I watched and any time that it "hiccuped" I was between 4700 - 5000 rpm. It didn't matter if I was maintenance throttle or accelerating. I tried it in Std mode and A mode and still the same results. I checked for codes and there are none. I will be adjusting the TPS(APS) this weekend to see if that helps.
Rather than looking at the rev range try looking at the throttle position. And when you are adjusting the APS look very carefully at this range in the meter. Hopefully you will see a dead spot and that is your issue. It is possible the wiper in the TPS or APS is slightly dirty or damaged. Also water in the fuel is another common cause of that. (But not rpm dependent)
When you say look at the throttle position, is this something I can do while riding?  I don't think it's water in the fuel as it has happened through several tanks of gas, from different stations.

  4. Today's update:

I reset the codes yesterday afternoon and rode the bike home (32 miles). Only 1 *hiccup*. Temp was 93 and low (for Georgia) humidity. This morning, a little more humid and 72, had some *hiccups* but no codes when I got to work. If there are any this afternoon, I will check when I get home. Also, this morning, when it did have issues, it was in the 4-5k range on RPM.
  5. Battery connections are tight.

Bad gas was my first thought as we were up in the mountains.  Have cleared out the gas and refilled with fresh and that didn't help it.

I will check with 2WDW about any updates to the flash.

Thank you all for the information.  I will be checking everything until the issue is resolved and I will post the resolution.

Not sure if you would consider this unique, creative or interesting, but it was unique for me. My reason for this picture is: I came up with 2 creative ideas but could not accomplish either. One I was missing another part and couldn't locate one. The other, it will be about six months before I would be able to get the picture I wanted. With those ideas being squashed, I went out in search of a picture. I decided to take the roads less traveled (my first trip on gravel) and found this peaceful lake. I stopped on the side of the road, watched the cows for a few minutes, snapped the photo and traveled some more roads less traveled. So for me, this picture is unique because it was a journey I would not normally take.

Next picture: I live in Georgia where summer is always hot. Take a picture of your FJ with something cold or refreshing to take my mind off the heat.
