Also I noticed you still have the older clutch cable with the bend in it ,instead of the smooth radius on the improved model. Surprised you haven't had any problems with it .
MIKE
Never had an issue to be honest.

Will the bushing/sleeve slide in there on its own?
Nope which tells me sanding probably wont help. I might have pinched it which seems ridiculous but what can ya do.

Looks like you have the cable on there while you're doing this. Remove the cable and install after the lever is on there properly. The clutch lever switch arm should be compressing the pin while you're installing. The bracket itself is cast, so trying to bend it might end badly.
Doesn't go in regardless of the cable or not sadly.

@sdwillie - First things first: Nice job with the Iron Maiden avatar!
Hard to say without inspecting it a bit more, but I would guess that the opening in the clutch perch got pinched together a bit while installing & tightening the aftermarket levers. It’s odd, because I would expect the outside opening to be the tight point (assuming the two parallel tabs ‘folded’ in towards each other a bit), but that doesn’t appear to be your case here.
I would be hesitant to try and pry it open, for fear of breaking the clutch perch. It doesn’t look like you need much... maybe some minor sanding/grinding on the inside of the perch?
Ha, thanks yeah i can try to get some sandpaper but i too think it was pinched but i am definitely scared to try to open it up with a prybar.

Hey guys. I installed a set of MZS on my bike and wasn't crazy about them so I took them off. I DID make a mistake when I put the handguards back on (clutch side) i used the bolt for the lever instead of the mirror to install the top handguard bracket. I corrected it and moved on. When trying to put the stock clutch lever back in its super hard to get back in and I cannot figure out why. Any type of lubrication wont matter even tapped it with a hammer which was a struggle. Here are a few pics. Any ideas?
TIA

I wish I never bought the X grip because this thing is amazing. I had the same issue with the power button being pressed on my Motorola phone, no more with this thing. You can move the pins also. I only use 3 and its amazingly sturdy. I paid like 16 bucks for it on amazon not long ago.

Welcome! Perhaps you can send me a bottle of 12 year West Cork Sherry or Port Cask! Getting harder to find here in New York!!! Cheers.

@sdwillie Is that a matte silver FJ/Tracer? The reason I ask is because I have a matte grey FJ and the Nelson Riggs magnetic tank bag i used prior to my SHAD polished the tank a bit where the magnets touched... no scratches but definitely polished the matte finish (thus the faux carbon vinyl you see on my tank in my pictures).
Normally I have no reservations about magnetic tank bags but I would not recommend them on matte finishes given my experience.
Yeah its a 2016 Matte silver.

Hey guys,
Was curious what mirror extenders you are using. I have these:
But these only give the option to raise the mirrors not use to extend out instead. Any ideas appreciated, not looking for anything expensive if possible.

If you're talking about the sheet metal screws, they just screwed right in the underside of the headlight. Granted they took a little extra effort, but not to a point where I felt like I was struggling or putting enormous effort into it.
The longer bolts matched up to the new threaded clips.
Yeah the sheet metal screws. Probably extra effort because they were a little oversized but no harm indeed using them. I still cant believe it was 20 dollars. So cheap and it really should have come with the bike its such a better look.

My $21 beak arrived today. I installed it tonight. Total time was about 10 minutes. It comes with extra hardware needed to mount. Mine came with absolutely no instructions whatsoever. Not a big deal, as I'm pretty handy and the install is really simple and straightforward. As other stated the spacers seemed completely unnecessary so I did not use them. The new clips and bolts were needed though, as were the 2 sheet metal screws and washers. Again, as others mentioned I added some fat sheet metal washers under the big hex bolts to secure the beak against the rubber grommet in the rear mounting holes. If I didn't have to go digging through my giant coffee can of spare nuts/bolts/washers install time would have been 5 minutes.
Sorry no pics for you yet, but it looks great and I'm very happy. At the price point, I can't complain too much. This is the first real bling-only farkle I've put on my FJ since I bought her in '15. I have a lot of farkles, too... So this one was purely about cosmetics, and I really like it. It just completes the look of the bike, and gives it a really nice "ADVenturey" look that is quite fitting to it. Very happy! If I can get off my lazy arse tonight and snap a pic I'll post it later. But for now just look at other people's pics and enjoy, I worked way too many hours this week and just need to sit a while and chill with a brewski.
How did you end up using the screws provided? The ones they sent to me were a thicker thread so I ended up reusing the stock ones and I didnt use the spacers either.
-
I got mine for 20 bucks as well a no brainer and shockingly cheap. Usually everything like this for a bike is ummm I dunno 300 DOLLARS OR SIMILAR!!! Question though. I removed the two clips and replaced with the new ones and longer allen bolts. But the front 2 Phillips screws I just re-used. The ones in the kit were longer/larger thread. Also mine came with spacers which I didn't use. Does anyone know what the spacers are for? The install was so easy I just don't like extra parts when there are no instructions.

I give you props for trying. If I did it myself the seat would end up looking like the wheel of The Flintstones car.

Nah I did about 100 miles then filled up again. Since others have said theirs doesn't really drop until after that I will check next time I can get out on a nice long ride.
Did you drive the bike 130 miles or so on a full tank? and did it change for you? Mine changed at 113 miles this last time.Yeah everything works fine.
-
Yeah everything works fine. What is the behavior of the gage when you first turn on the key? Do all segments sequentially illuminate?

Hey guys. Today I left my house with a full tank and rode 100 miles and when I got to my stop I realized my gauge was still at full. Thought it was a little strange so on the way home i decided to get gas it took about 2 gallons. I then clocked another 70 miles and the gauge didn't move again. I wouldn't be so bothered but this just started since I removed the tank to sync the throttle bodies. Any ideas what it could be? Thx

$300.00 aint painless man that hurts!!!! lol But still better than points and insurance hike.
They got me at 57 in a 30 zone right at the western exit of the Dragon near the lake. He was sitting in the parking area on the right.
Cop told me to call an 800 number to take care of it when I got home.
I did. $300 fine, AAA driving class, and ticket wiped from my record. TN never notified my ins company or home state. Painless!
I think they ticket in Blount County mainly for revenue, not to be mean!

Better to get a ticket then be added to the tree of shame but luckily I have had neither there.

What did I do to my FJ09 today? I looked at it covered in my garage......looked at all the snow in my driveway, and then I flipped off mother nature.
does that count?
Problem reinstalling clutch lever

Yes thanks for asking. I carefully used minimal force with a chisel to try to open the perch. It didnt seem like it did anything but I was able to get the lever back in with a little bit of tapping with a mallet. It moves fine as well which I was most worried a about.
