  1. I bought this bike new in August 2017 and put in the garage due to work and health issues.  Took it out in 2020 and added parts/upgrades then COVID hit.  Parked it, again, and then bought a 2019 Super Tenere in 2021 for longer distance travels and I've been using the ST almost exclusively. So, here's this perfectly beautiful, barely ridden joy of a bike and I have to sell it. Extras include: Barkbusters, MadStad windshield, custom radiator cover, GIVI crash bars, Sargent Rider/Pillion seats, Full OEM luggage keyed to ignition, Touratech bash plate, I'll tidy up rash on the left crash bar (my dearly beloved thought it needed a nap in the driveway).  Everyone here knows what a great ride this is so I won't belabor the point. Original seats included.

Bought these just after purchase and realized I wanted actual crash bars. Only on for a few weeks and never "used".

They may fit other years, but as they're not on the accessories page any longer, I'm not positive.

Originally over $200 (gotta love OEM, right?)  I'll take $75 plus shipping to CONUS.  Prefer PayPal +3%.

    Ride Safe.

Alright alright I've been riding for several months with the system installed. Still sounds great, I have (knock on wood) yet to have any problems with anything. Flashing the ECU took away any problems I initially had with hard starting, it fires right up every single time- hot or cold.

Power delivery feels more linear, there were some rough spots in the power curve with the stock exhaust that the pipe and flashing seemed to have cured (not sure if this is because of the flash or not). I have not had the bike wide open in 6th gear yet, but I did notice nearing the top end of 4th the bike seems to feel like it's starting to struggle. Not sure if this is just due to my hilly terrain I frequent, I have only ever powered up the hills and never down. Overall, I give the system a solid 9/10.

I know it's been a while since you posted, but I have a '17 FJ-09 with under 2,000 miles that I'd like to breath on a bit. Do you have a reference to who flashed yours? I'm looking at a Black Widow 300mm exhaust.

It's pretty but damn, the Yoshi system is sooooo expensive.  I just can't justify ~$1200USD for an exhaust system where this:

    https://www.blackwidowexhausts.co.uk/mt09-mt-09-tracer-tracer-gt-de-cat-exhaust-system--300mm-tri-oval-black-carbon-tip-silencer-20897-p.asp

is £349.99 / $437USD.  I've run Black Widow systems before too, always had an excellent experience with them.

That Works finish is pretty snazzy, though; I'm curious how well it holds up to abuse?

I have a 2017 FJ-09 that I'd like to keep and have to sell. Adding this would add significantly to the "keep" column on the tally sheet. How did you like it?

I wear offroad type shin guards under my MC jeans. Unlike the knee pads that come in motorcycle pants that tend to shift, (and that I remove,) these stay in place. On one get off, the knee of the pants ground away, but no damage to my knee with these in place. They also protect the legs from the odd stone, etc, that gets thrown up. They also keep engine heat or cold winds off of the leg area.

Where did you get those, please?  I like the description of what they do.

Hi what's the verdict on these anyone got them if how well do they work??

I have the barkbusters and they're top notch. They have a set with a bit larger profile as it has two pieces. Not as Space Ghost looking as the original kit on my 2017 FJ-09, but very effective and a more secure mount. You have to completely remove the originals to mount the barkbusters, but it's worth it.

Out of stock now (8.16.23) but here they are: https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/barkbusters-vps-handguard-kit-yamaha-fj-09-fz-09-xsr900

I'm debating getting a heated vest, been throwing that idea around for years now, still not convinced of the best one to get.

I've been using the Aerostich Kanetsu electric vest for a couple years now and love it. Simple, one-button switch.  Doesn't get too hot (I tend to be warm) but you can certainly feel it working.  Wire it in with a 10amp fuse on a Fuzeblock and you're good to go.  I use a Quickconnect or coaxial connector from Aerostich instead of the SAE connector and put a rubber cap over the female port tucked under the instrument cluster when it's not in use. Aerostich sells lots of wiring options. From my painful experience - DO NOT try to use the cigarette lighter adapter as it's only fused to 3amps. Blows instantly and then you've got to pull everything off to change of the fuse.

Ever since reading @redfjniner's  Colorado ride report, I've been scheming a way to do it myself. I currently only have the saddlebags, and I think I'd like to take a duffle bag/dry bag to go over the back seat for additional capacity. I looked at all the usual places, and there seems to be no shortage of bags to fill the niche. I thought I'd check in here w all y'all to see if anyone has a favorite. My requirements are fairly basic: easy to strap down, waterproof, and spacious enough to hold my camping gear (even tho I'll probably stay in hotels, I'd like the option of camping in case the mood hits or the location begs for it).

    Suggestions? Recommendations?

I've used the Mosko Moto 40L and 30L bags duffles. The 40L is outstanding. The 30L is just great. The 40L has features I've used time and again, including my favorite - a tent pole sleeve located under the top flat.  You don't need Mosko Moto's special straps.  Just a couple RokStraps.  The bags are built bulletproof and water tight.  Even after a few thousand miles, they look like new. The 40L has rollup openings on each short end.  The 30L has a rollup opening along the top. Both are outstanding quality. They're pricey, no doubt, but can be found for sale pretty often on the ADVrider forum.  That's where I got my 30L for about 1/2 price of new.

What sort of bottles are you talking about here?  I'm looking at a range extending solution myself and am waffling between a rotopax or bottles, but I'm not really sure what bottles would be good/safe/secure.

Sorry to be so late to this, but in case you've not found anything, SIGG fuel bottles (usually sold for camp stove fuel at places like REI, etc.) are perfect for fuel. Red in color, 1Litre in size. Many pannier sets, particularly soft kits, have molle patches that'll take a bottle holder. I've also seen folks craft bottle brackets to mount on aluminum panniers.

I really like the location of the perch.  Have looked at the Rotopax but worried what would happen in a low side when the the bike went sliding.  Don't want a fuel tank with a hole rubbed in it leaking gas.  Looks like this will provide good protection.

That is an outstanding observation, PhotoAI.  I'm mounting rotopax on my S10 (don't go that far afield on my FJ-09). I'm now going to check side exposure tolerances. Thank you.

  11. I have a 2017 FJ-09 and I switched to a Sargent very soon after purchase for obvious reasons. It's much better, but not as nice (for me) as the Seat Concepts I have on my 2019 Super Tenere.  Seat Concepts doesn't make seats for the FJ-09 any longer, so I'm looking for a Corbin.  New price is a bit much, but maybe someone here has one to trade or sell?  My Sargent two-piece is black with blue piping (it's the Super Tenere blue but it looks good on my FJ-09, as well.)

  12. I have a 2017 FJ-09 that I'm thinking of selling, and an inmate from ADV forum wonders if it's California compliant (He's thinking of a fly and ride from CA to PA to CA).  I've been looking for an emissions rating plate or label and not having any luck.  Someone mentioned a "canister" that would have the information.

So, a few questions come to mind:

Are all 2017 FJ-09's California compliant?

Are there different emission ratings for different builds of the 2017?

    Is there an emissions label?

    If so, where is it?

    Thanks in advance.
