Don’t forget Joe Kelly’s seat slope modification kit. It worked like magic for me after spending a fortune on a seat rebuild that didn’t work. jk3d.us

I just ordered one of these, price is certainly right, but what's difference between using a kit to prop up the front and just putting seat in high position, which is, uh, raising the front...

  2. From an earlier post:

Got around to straightening my Bars/Forks. Took a whopping 15 min

    - I loosened the front axle 1st

    - loosened the lower triple clamp retaining bolts

    - left the top triple tree bolts alone

    - stood in front of the bike and held the tire between my knees and turned the bars in the direction I wanted. I didn't feel any movement or hear any creaking, but looking at the bars from the back showed they were pretty straight.

    - tightened front axle Then lower triple tree. Took her for a ride and she's perfectly straight now.

Still wondering why the dealer couldn't handle this easy fix....

On my 2015 model I just lift the rear of the tank and put a small plank of wood across the frame rails to keep it lifted. That way I don’t have to undo the fuel pipes.

I have a 2019 GT.  Ditto.  And you can turn the tank 180° with fuel lines/hoses still connected to give you all the room you need with it now sitting where seat is normally.

  4. A bump for attention.  I know a very good shop on the East Coast but that sounds just like the problem you have now.  I would get a price on shipping.  If you still have the boxes they came in shouldn't be too bad.

  5. I've had several inline 4s:  an 07 FJR and 2 R1s at different times, an 08 and then a 2014 (the last year before big redesign, and still what's sold now in 2024).  Combined total miles on all 3 was about 80k. The new Suzukis look nice but the triple in the Tracer is so much narrower, lighter, and runs so much cooler than the I-4s.  That's its huge advantage to similar looking I4 bikes IMO.  And I regularly use all of the Tracers rev range.  My 2019 Tracer GT has an Akra exhaust, Ohlins front and rear, and the Yamaha comfort seat   No reason for me to trade for anything.  I only wish it had a slightly larger gas tank to be more of a distance tourer between stops.

Typical suspension shortcomings, springs are soft/not enough rebound/too much high speed compression. But not off enough to make the bike unsettled or uncomfortable.

All true, but get sag and suspension set for your weight by competent bike shop.  IMO stock suspension on 19/20 Tracer will handle very well for riders under 225 lbs.

  7. I have Vnut's flash and an Akro full exhaust, no cat, on my 2019 GT.  About 15k miles after the flash.  If only city riding, get prompted for fuel at 155 miles.   All other riding usually 175 before low fuel light comes on.  Plenty good range for me although wish the bike came w a 5 gallon tank.

Biggest benefit is much smoother fueling.

  8. I just got the Road 5's.  First time trying them, havent even turned a wheel yet other than on the stands.  Got 7500 miles on my OEM Dunlops and 7800 w Metzeler Sportec M7.  Road 5s are significantly more expensive than both.  6's would've been even more $$ so I passed.  Hope I like them!

I am sorely disappointed at the amount of heat that gets generated by my tracer.  It’s quite uncomfortable and makes for a difficult ride.  I’ve viewed dozens of YouTube videos on the Tracer and not one speaks to this problem.  I can’t be the only one.  Anybody out there find the same thing?  I just don’t think I want to keep the bike very long.  I’m very dissatisfied.

I think this is a troll.  First post.  @Mike123, what bike or bikes did you ride previously?  In the same conditions that you say the Tracer generates heat?  I mean of course on a hot day if you are not moving it will be warmer on a Tracer than if you are standing next to a palm tree.  Maybe electric is in your future.
