  1. been off the bike for a few weeks while recovering from some carpal tunnel surgery. While I was not riding I did a major upgrade and had some AK-20 cartridges from traxxion dynamics installed.  Had my first ride on them today and all I can say is WOW what a difference. Went down some local roads bumpy roads that gave the bike fit's with the stock suspension. So much better and no brake dive. It really highlights how bad the stock rear shock is. Now that I have tasted the koolaid I can't stand the stock rear shock and will be ordering a Penske rear Tuesday when the local shop opens.

intended to take a short ride of 5 to 10 miles and ended up searching out bad roads and speed bumps, 80 miles later I had  to turn on the GPS to get home !!

  2. A few threads on here about that but basically, it's normal. When moving the bike will run about 100F over ambient. That is if it's 50F outside the bike will be at about 150F, when is 70F the bike will be about 170F. Thermostat is fully open at 180F so it should not get much warmer than that unless it really hot or when running the bike very hard.  When stopped the fan kicks on at 220F off at 200F

  3. Probably because there’s little in the automotive world to indicate what the actual operating or coolant temp of your car/truck is...  so it’s difficult to compare the 220F number to anything familiar and operating normal.

I'm a bit of gauge geek so I do have digital gauges in my 4 wheel vehicles.  But even with a simple gauge this no number scale .. cold-hot .. as long as you pay attention the gauge will go to the same spot and stay close to that. You can even see the thermostat open on most as the needle will drop slightly. If you have ever removed a failed thermostat and run without one then you will see a much wider range in temps .. much like my FJ and that was really my point.

  4. I have been wondering about this myself. All other water cooled vehicles ( bike or car )I have owned , have a thermostat that opens at a much higher temp .. 180F or 190F so the engine will go to that temp and stays close to that temp. My bike runs like it has no thermostat. If it's 40F the motor is at 140F .. 60F it's 160F up to about 180F motor temp (while moving). I had always suspected that the thermostat was stuck open from the factory or this motor runs a lot of bypass to keep the water moving. I do plan to do a flash of the ECU mostly to have the fan kick in sooner when not moving. 220F just bugs me and I'm not even 100% sure why.

  5. Now that the 2019 GT has cruse control, has this opened up any options for the older models? I was sure hoping that it would be an add on option like the quick shifter but I somehow doubt it. Anyone know if the tuners have been able to clone the code from the new ECU ? I know there are a few aftermarket options but a search here did not bring up any new info. that I could find.
