are your bars any lower than stock?

    Thanks

I don't think they are significantly lower but what I was looking for was less up turn on the bars. Meaning the stock bars made me have to hold my elbows up like riding a dirt bike and that put pressure on my wrists when I lowered elbows to a relaxed position. The new bar ends are less tilted upward.

  2. For my bike, 2019 GT, it was loose bushings in the slider tubes. Also known as "metal sliders" 4FM-23171-40-00. I put the front wheel up off the ground and could pull and push the front wheel back and forth and see play/movement at the fork seal. I called Yamaha USA and they claim that is "normal". Their normal is to allow a certain amount of play (loose tolerance) to keep cost down. The problem I have with that philosophy is that that can induce oscillations and many unknowns into the handling of the bike.

I ended up having the front end rebuilt by Traxxion Dynamics and that fixed some of that "clunk"

Try WOT for say 7 seconds to clear any flooding. If it still doesn't start, do another WTO after a couple of minutes.

That would help with flooding on a regular, carb or throttle bodied system, but with this bike when you twist throttle it turns a sensor which then tells the computer what you want. I don't think it would open the throttle butterflies to WOT in this situation.

  4. Mine was very tough to use for the whole time I owned it, 2 1/2 years, and finally would not work at all. I took it apart some and lubed it which did no good. It was stuck so badly that I could press as hard as I could and it would not go in (click to select). I had it replaced under warranty and the new one is great. The way it should have been from new. https://www.partzilla.com/product/yamaha/B1J-83963-00-00?ref=0a619e88951a81b1664f10a7da717f020795ab99

  5. I have taken it apart, to a limited degree, to try to loosen up the action as I've had the same problem you describe. When I took off switch mechanism from the bars there is no problem to watch for at that point. I then saw 2 small crosshead screws and removed those and lifted out the mechanism. That is as far as I got. See photo with both screws removed. One is under the wire in top of photo.

I lubed it with silicone grease. It helped a little but still isn't right. You'll see how it works and what the fix would most likely be, but I wasn't ready to try taking that apart. When you push the wheel it forces a ramped piece of plastic into the spring loaded ball bearing. In my opinion, if one were to disassemble that part you would most likely be able to soften the action by smoothing that plastic ramp by filing or sanding the profile of it. I just didn't feel like attempting it.

If anyone else has gone further I'd like the info and help also.

Would anyone here be willing to measure their 2020 900 GT windscreen mounting points just to double-check before I go making a $200 purchase? 😋

For my 21 T9GT I got the following (eyeballed due to curve of windscreen):
Horizonal distance Between top bolts: 205mm

Vertical distance between top to bottom bolt: 125mm

Horizontal distance between bottom bolts: 145mm

    Thanks in advance!

    Just measured my 2019 (same as 2020) and came up with following;

    Horizontal between top bolts 204mm

Vertical between top to bottom 122mm

    Horizontal distance on bottom 148mm

I took a tape measure and went from center of JIS screw head cross to the other. Fairly accurate, although I am wrapping tape measure across curve of shield. This sounds like my measurements are close enough to yours to say they are the same when considering error factor.

  7. I'm sure you'll get many suggestions but you might want to try starting with one of these. Only $27. Hardware is a bit hard to figure out.  https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B08HCX4J96/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

A friend put one on his Tracer GT and I rode it and noticed a major decrease in buffeting so I bought one for my Tracer too. Very adjustable for height and angle. You can even tilt it to scoop air into your chest on a hot day. Definitely worth it to me.

I will publicly admit to ONLY riding in A-mode since having it flashed right after purchasing the bike.  If I get stuck in bumper to bumper stop and go traffic (not very often), I will switch to B-mode but other than that I only keep it in A-mode.

Do you have your ECU flashed?  I ride primarily twisty mountain roads, once the ECU is flashed, A-mode is VERY smooth.

Yes, just like a lesser ratio throttle.

I personally disagree, I find A mode way too touchy, I'd rather not be constantly hyper-focussed on my wrist movement.  Makes for a better ride where you can focus on what you''re supposed to be focussing on.  I bet a lot of people (unlike me) aren't publicly willing to admit they dont like A mode.

I agree with you. A mode takes too much thinking to control where STD mode is more natural to me. I ride a lot of mountain roads and A mode is just too touchy.

Can anyone tell me the length of the stock fork springs in the 2019-2020 tracer gt specifically?   Race tech lists shorter length replacement springs for the newer bike compared to the earlier fj09 and mt09.  The springs that I ordered are only 270mm long,  while others have posted here of getting springs 340mm long. That leads me to think the stock springs have different lengths.

I have a 2019 GT 900 that I had redone by Traxxion Dynamics. Just pulled out the old stock springs and measured them. 30.7cm, 307mm or about 12 1/8 inches.

Well now you’re just getting greedy!  :)

I haven’t seen that yet, fortunately.   I bought the Pro Bolt stainless rotor bolts, caliper bolts, and pinch bolt when I did the big brake upgrade, and this Ti axle nut (and a few other things) ‘accidentally’ fell into the online shopping cart as I was on my way to the cashier.

My exceedingly patient wife, who almost never asks about such things, raised her eyebrows a bit when the AmEx statement appeared:  “You spent how much on bolts??”

Probably not something I could justify. Mostly dreaming.

Dayumn, Randy, that is quite the bummer... I feel for you, 'bro!

You are quite accurate in saying the stock setup is a hassle to adjust. It's even more of an ass-pain than my previous Hayabusa, and CBR1100XX Blackbird before that. Unless I am willing to send the major $$$ that a proper Gilles setup would cost, I am sticking with the stock adjusters. The only thing different thing I have done is swap out those ho-hum, questionably-plated adjusters with some god-like, polished Titanium equivalents. And the factory axle nut replaced by a black-anodized Titanium equivalent; all these Ti products are from Pro-Bolt USA:

Does this Ti hardware make finding that perfect 25mm slack easier to obtain? Not really. It's just calm and soothing to wrench on beautiful titanium hardware, vice the plain-jane oem steel. Not everything on a motorcycle has to be justified from an engineering perspective; some things are more emotional in nature.  😃

Nice stuff. Do you have part numbers or size to look for? I'm interested.

Just saw your response and went to website. Yes it is expensive. $45 for just the axle nut. Any idea if the axle bolt is available in Titanium?

The reason I ask what bike is I went to the web site and the model # listed is Tracer 700. Kept searching and the foot for the '20 Tracer 900GT is $42.09 with delivery April 6-27 from Uncle tiger - US, but it must be coming from overseas somewhere like China maybe.

2019 GT. Sorry I didn't state that. If you click on link and look at reviews, mine is the one that states it fits 2019 GT perfectly.
