  1. Well, winter is practically over out here in northern CA.....and I hadn't done a darn thing. Sunday, I finally tore into removing the tank to pull and ship out the ECU, installed crash bars and installed a new windscreen for the FJ. (Stream sport tour height). Being 5'4", 28" inseam and the seat at its lowest....that is more than enough coverage.

I haven't even looked the the track bike.

Time to stop putting in so many hours at work and turn some wrenches at home... You know,...work/life balance? That's something I suck at.

    None whatsoever!

Excellent. Bought yesterday and will pull and ship the ECU in the next couple months once work slows down.

You guys have maps for the 2 Brothers cyclone series right?

Do you send instructions on what needs to be done to the bike once I go to install the ECU and exhaust at the same time?

Just joined this forum. Straight off...I have a problem with the seat height and looking to fit a low seat from somewhere. I’ve looked through some of the topics on low seats but not sure what has actually worked. I’m 5’7”  and 28 inside leg so I struggle at times and it doesn’t help my confidence. Has anyone out there found a lower seat that is lower than the yamaha original seat and actually works. Any replies would be most welcome.

I can't comment on suggesting a way to lower it...but I hear ya on the struggles. (5'4", 115lbs with the 27" inseam).  I'm on my very tip toes on both feet, or slide to one side to get one foot down on the ball of the foot. I've gained confidence with seat time since getting my FJ in March. To practice moving off the seat, I rolled the bike onto a wheel chock and worked on sliding side to side. "Greasing" the seat with a polish for body work helps prevent a little of that friction, allowing quicker movement.

But...Cheap/easy solution would be the lowering links as suggested. You could always remove it if you're feeling more steady.

  5. Does anyone here have 1st hand experience with the RevIt Horizon 2 pants and/or RevIt Vapor 2 Jacket?

Coming from wearing full leathers everywhere, I've noticed that the FJ prevents a lot of air flow I'm used to on a sportbike and am getting a little warmer than I prefer while on the bike.

I'm in Northern CA, ride in the Foothills, the coast, and inland near Yosemite.

I've been looking for some pants/jacket that offer as close to the level of protection that leather offers, but with more breath ability and wanted to know if anyone on here has used either of these and what their views are for cold, warm and hot weather ridding.

  6. Has anyone here mounted a Givi V47 top case and the Givi Outtrekker hard side cases on an FJ-09? (Mines a 2017)

After scouring this forum, the Internet and sending Givi USA in NV an inquiry (with no response) I can not for the life of me find any info, anyone who's done this comb or instructions on the correct way to instal both types together.

So before I call Givi, I thought I'd throw this out there on this platform 1st.

Is it possible? Currently I have the V47 top case installed (was already installed upon buying the bike) but have the Outtrekker side cases and mounts ready. But the instructions for the side cases are lacking, Givi only has videos showing install for the two types of luggage as a single unit but never combined. Do I just place the side case mount directly over the mount for the top case? Because if I use the the spacers as instructed over the top case bracket, wouldn't that make the width between the side cases too far apart to untize the stabilization bar/cross bar that connects the two side case mounts from under the subframe?

Any and all advice, how to's, step by step instructions or even pictures would be great.

  8. Needing some help in finding passenger pegs/footrests and the brackets.

I just picked up a 2017 FJ, but it didn't come with any and I need them for the misses. So my questions are:

    -where can I find them?

-will I need to go through a dealer just to get the brackets?

-is there a brand/style you prefer?

Just for some info, she's 5'1", so I'm sure she won't need them lowered any from stock height.

That sounds like Yankee Jim's rd. Agreed, too tight / narrow / steep for the FJ but pretty. Sounds like you need a supermoto.

Yep,...took that on a gsxr 750 once. Never again! But there is an all paved road that connects Colfax to Foresthill.

  10. Hey everyone,

I just recently joined and my intro is in the intro section.

So, I need some advice and want to know your opinion on purchasing a used 2016 FJ-09. Below I've included what's in the for sale post and want to know if it's worth the price being asked which is $9,000

    2500 miles
    Custom gel seat
    GPR steering Damper
    Garmin GPS
    Always covered in garage
Bought brand new and serviced at K&B Motorsports
LED turn signals front and rear
    License plate relocation kit
    Adjustable brake and clutch levers
Factory hard bags with locking kit
    Frame sliders

From the pictures, it looks very clean, but the price seems quite high. Even if I were to talk him down to let's say, $8500....is that price worth that bike? Because I'm new to the FJ world, I just don't have a lot of experience with them.

    thanks in advance.
