Thanks for this. I downloaded the pdf file for free. I was not asked to pay anything.

I've got a problem with this too, which I just discovered.

My wife rode with me for first time, with full luggage.  I dialed in full preload, (24 clicks), but still had a problem getting the side stand to deploy without having to tilt bike dangerously to the right. This seems way wrong.

In addition, we're older.  She's not tall and a bit heavy.  She can't swing a leg over the topcase with me on the bike, so we tried her getting on the bike first without me on it, then scooting to the back seat and I then awkwardly push my foot over the seat and get on.  We used to sometimes use this method on my FJR and it worked well.  Very stable.  HOWEVER,  on the Tracer the stability of the bike is extremely precarious when on the side stand IMO.  And, in fact, the Tracer fell over at a gas stop with her on it !!!  I was getting off.  She was balancing on the rear seat.  Somehow weight shifted a bit while I was getting off and pulling my foot across the seat.  And the Tracer did something I don't think any bike I've had in decades could have done...  it "over-topped" the side stand and fell over on the side stand side of the bike.

Obviously, my wife freaked out, as did I.  For the rest of our trip, our friends helped us stabilize the Tracer each time my wife got on and off.

    Anyone else experienced this problem?

A lot of times I ride fully loaded with side cases, top case and wife. All this with the OEM front shocks and rear spring with full preload. I know we're a bit over the weight limit, but have never encountered problems. Most important thing is to know how the bike feels and then act accordingly. This applies to breaking distance, cornering, etc.

Also, I fixed a kickstand shoe and this decreased the angle of the bike when on the side stand. Also, my wife gets on the bike after I do. To mount, she stands on the passenger footrest and swings her leg around and gets past the top box without much effort.

  3. I am considering installing a brake light modulator on my 900GT (2019), but am worried that it may interfere with some of the bike's normal functions. For example, activating the brake disengages the cruise control.

Any experiences from you guys would be appreciated.

  4. The sat-nav mount is a nice setup, with a much better line of sight of the GPS. The price is also great.

What I'm worried about, however, is the force exerted on the plastic windscreen mount. My Garmin Zumo is quite heavy and with the arm that attaches to the ball mount there will be additional leverage on the windscreen mount.

Another thing - there is discussion on this forum that a GPS mounted directly above the instrument panel would be affected by interference from the panel. Has this been experienced by anyone?

That would help with flooding on a regular, carb or throttle bodied system, but with this bike when you twist throttle it turns a sensor which then tells the computer what you want. I don't think it would open the throttle butterflies to WOT in this situation.

It will open the throttle butterflies. This flooding is not uncommon on the Super Tenere, and the 'fly-by-wire' system is the same. Many members on the Super Tenere forum resort to WOT and in most cases it works.

  6. I've been on a few longish trips (6 days or so) and will be going again on the 4th September. Usually I'll be fully loaded: 2 up, side cases and 50L top case. I'll be at the manual's load limit (possibly very slightly over). Front forks full preload (no lines showing) and back shock full preload as well. The bike handles well and I never had an issue. It will be a bit top heavy, but what can I expect 🙂 ?

    Nice!...

    I went with this approach.

I went with that approach too. SW Motech fog lights mounted on GIVI bike specific mounts.  My reasoning was that if I ever topple the bike, the lights wouldn't be crushed. I do admit that I prefer lights to be more spaced out, but there's always a compromise between the various factors.

  8. Well LizN, I'm not surprised that you were shocked that something came along to replace your FJR. I was exactly in the same situation when I replaced my Super Tenere last Summer. The S10 was proving to be too heavy for me. When I got the Tracer 900 GT the comparison was a Humvee vs. BMW. After a few months I was really blessing the Tracer and I have no regrets.
