  1. Not a VFR but I had an 2017 Honda Africa Twin with a DCT
In fact the DCT was the main attraction for purchasing the Africa Twin.
The bike had 3 modes (Auto sport1 and sport 2) plus a manual mode where you shifted with two buttons
Auto was a waste because it shifted way too soon so I most always used sport2 mode
I live in Western NC and the twisty roads start at the end of my driveway.
So I always used manual mode when I wanted to be aggressive in the twisties.
It worked very well.  If you were in a turn and needed more revs just a touch of the button made a seamless shift.
I was very impressed with the DCT. The only disadvantage was that it added quite a bit of weight.
When it was time to sell the bike I found that having the DCT was a disadvantage as prospective buyers didn't want a DCT.
I'd love to have a DCT in my current TracerGT but not if it added weight to the bike.

Then over the weekend, attended the MSTA's "Mail Pouch Fly By" in Marietta, OH.  Had a blast carving up some of the best roads around!  Even took the Sisterville Ferry across the Ohio River.  And turned over 25,000 miles on the way home.

    Good times!

Hey I was at the FlyBy Week also, Got in Thursday and rode home Sunday.
Saw your bike in the parking lot but didn't get to talk to you.
My bike is a 2019 GT.
We rode mostly in Ohio because we ride through WV on the way up and going home to Asheville.
Also will ride lots of WV at the Fall Colors ride end of September.
    Maybe I'll see you there.

I bought a Garmin XT over the winter as a replacement for a 595. I do really like the display, but the software, or my understanding of it, is sometimes annoying.

I live in Germany and use an app called kurviger to plan routes. I can load the GPX files to the Garmin with little trouble. The annoying thing is that the XT sometimes re-routes between the waypoints, sometimes around roads that I really want to ride.

I have a similar complaint that the "route Home" doesn't seem to use my Adventurous Routing settings, rather gets me home quickly. (Perhaps my configuration?)

I was using the TomTom Go app on my rugged phone and found it easier to plan routes. (I still use it for riding in the US, when visiting family).

Make sure you have the setting for Off-Route Recalculation set to OFF

That's seems like not many miles but guess you wore the sides out.  My current Road 5s did great in the mountains out west but could really tell the wear from just a few hundred miles of spirited riding.  Road 6s will be going on next but haven't seen a lot of info on them yet.  From what I've seen looks like the Road 5s were not a great improvement on the 4s and the 6s are trying to get back to more of an upgrade to the 4s than the 5s were.

Here's the Road5's with 4,934 miles on them

  5. Tires are getting very expensive lately
I got 3,940 miles on the OEM Dunlop's on my 2019 Tracer GT
Replaced them with a set of Michelin Road5 tires that surprisingly lasted 4,934 miles although they were totally gone causing a little pucker factor on the last 100 miles.
Replaced them with a set of Michelin Road6 and don't have enough miles on them for a good evaluation
I live in the Appalachian mountains of North Carolina and I'm lucky to get 3,000 miles on a set of tires so the Michelin's have been a good choice so far.
They provide excellent traction in both wet and dry conditions.

Anyone else have information on Michelin Road6,s ?

K-Tech told me to use a higher range weight spring in the rear for my weight calls for. My rider weight is 170lb and w/ gear is 180lb. Their rear shocks rating would be for 145-175lbs, or 175-210lbs  I just worry it might be too stiff. I'm not sure how he figures it, and said it doesnt matter how I ride it. The fronts choices would be at  either 160-200lb (8.5kg/mm) and 180-220lb (9kg/mm). Their he told me to stay within the lighter of the two.

Should i be ok? There are no suspension shops where I live, but I can communicate with these companies by phone and e'mail. best I got. I live closer to Traxxion Dynamics in Georgia, but much pricier .

    thank You for replies..

You might want to try Cogent Dynamics. They are in the Asheville NC area.

Just that, lose the cat! It's likely to get plugged up eventually dealing with a rich A/F ratio, eh. Doesn't have to be a full system, think there are several muffler upgrades that the delete the cat. It's a heavy sumbitch anyways...

There's a Scorpion slip for the Yamaha Tracers from Moto Machines
    There may be other vendors

So I'll be moving to Asheville, NC in August and I'm wondering how long is the typical riding season? I don't mind riding in cold and plan in investing in some heated gear but how often is there snow on the ground? Also, besides the blue ridge parkway, how is the riding in the local area? It looks much better than where I am currently (Abilene, TX). I'm excited about the move (aside from the housing market being insane right now) and Asheville looks like a beautiful area. Thanks in advance for any info.

PM me when you get moved in. I live in Fletcher NC (about 15 miles from Asheville) and I can show you around.
There are many great motorcycling roads in the area.

As per this thread, I ordered the 2PP-F84G0-V0-00 mounts (that provide more foot-room) from Revzilla back in December.  I followed up on the order today and they tell me Yamaha has discontinued the part.  Anyone got a pair they want to sell or know of another solution?

I purchased the 2PP-F84G0-V0-00  mounts in February 2020 and they work great. I now see that they have been discontinued.
I think you may be able to get them from Japan. Here's a site that says they have them in stock.

Have we met at a trackday then? I've been to CMP with John & Jeremiah several times.

May have.  John usually brought a camper. The group I was with always rented a garage and I slept in my trailer. I sold my GSXR750 track bike to Joe Roberts in September 2019. Joe sometimes road with J Faddock at the track.  My contact is doug dot pippin at bellsouth dot net.

OP: Welcome! Beautiful area with great roads all around you.

Do you know John Faddock? He's in your area. I might be misspelling his last name...

koth442 Yes I know John. He runs the HVL airport. I usually see him at the track.

Not too far from WNC, that’s where we ride mostly. Actually picked the bike up in Hendersonville, just south of Asheville, NC. Great Yamaha dealer there, it was the most pleasant motorcycle buying experience I’ve ever had.

Tim, welcome to the forum. I live in Fletcher NC, half way between Asheville and Hendersonville and have a 2019 Tracer GT.  Lot's of good roads in WNC. Look me up when you're in this area and I can show you some great roads.
