It seems from what I've read here that I'll be looking for upgrades on the Tracer. I think I read somewhere that the Penske shock that they use does not have remote preload adjustment. That would be a non starter for me. I love the Ohlins on my VFR, fully adjustable, rebuildable, and oh so pricey. Guess Ill have to wait for the weather till I can get out and do some "scratchin'" to see how much the credit card is going to suffer!

Ohlins makes a shock for the Tracer GT that has remote preload adjustment.

YA 537 I have this shock on my 2019 TracerGT and it works really well

  2. I recently received my Adcox seat for my 2019 Tracer GT and I quite happy with it. I have used Sargent seats on several bikes and was going to get one for the Tracer, however their Tracer GT seats were FUBAR.  At first I thought I'd have to use  the Adcox seat in the low position, but found I can still get my feet on the ground with the seat in the high position so that's how I use it.

The seat is very comfortable. I was concerned about the wings interfering with my hanging off riding style but have adapted. I can feel the wings while hanging off but it's minimal.  Fortunately I still have the original OEM seat so I can install it if I want to do aggressive riding. Overall I like and highly recommend the Terry Adcox modified seat. I hadn't heard of the wings collapsing but I don't have many miles on the seat to comment. For normal riding the seat is very comfortable.

I contacted them and they will be shipping me the two new brackets that support the hugger. The hugger itself hasn't changed. Honestly, this is why I support these companies. I'm sure you can find a knock-off version on Ali Express or whatever, but you wouldn't get this kind of customer service or attention to detail when making things right.

It was funny as I went back to the message I sent them almost exactly a year ago where I had asked them about fastening the hugger down and being afraid of it cracking!

That's great.  Maybe that's the fix they told me they were working on and I'll be able to get the Pyramid 072447M rear hugger soon.

Motocheck, I too got a Type 110 and had the same problem.  Rather than raising the lockring off the tank, I lowered  the ring that attaches to the bag by inserting the drilling template between the ring and the bag.  If you didn't throw that away, I think you'll find it to be a cheap solution.

I was having a problem attaching the EVO Engage to my Tacer GT also. So this suggestion of adding the drilling template was a great idea except I know longer had the template.  So I made a spacer using a piece of cardboard (non corrugated) and it did the job.  Then I started thinking that it would be a mess if the cardboard got wet.  So I took an empty plastic gallon jug that had thin flat sides and made spacer from it.  It's works great.

Thanks for this suggestion to make a spacer so the tank bag is easier to install!

    Good day,

I'm looking for some info on,

"Does a 6" DB killer restrict enough air to act as a Cat?  If the ECU has certain variances of adjusting fuel/air depending on altitude, temp etc.

Would it not restrict enough airflow to not need a Flash or PC V?

I'm plan to run a OEM chopped header with M4 Slip on, stock filter.

My reasoning is I once had a GPR Homologated Slip-on  with front and rear DB killer. They stated it did not need a different fuel map if both were used

If someone has some info on this I would greatly appreciate.

I am no superstar mechanic and limited knowledge on this stuff.

Don't beat me up if this has already been discussed but perhaps lead to me the stream!!!

    Cheers

Why bother with a slip on if your going to restrict the exhaust flow with a DB killer

I have the hugger replacement - I did have some fitment issues - to  the point where I removed it temporarily.

@dpippin - when was this? I might reach out to PP and ask them about the "new" version.

    Thanks

    Rob

If you do contact Pyramid with your problem please post up results or PM me as I considering the 072447M rear hugger once they have their rework done!

  7. I bought a used front and rear seat from a member that had bought a Sargent seat

I sent the front seat to Terry Adcox to be rebuilt. He matched the seat cover to be the same as the rear.

    684725900_AdcoxSeat(Large).thumb.JPG.4864a16a2514eb72df9bfd9119e17e58.JPG

It's a very comfortable seat and if I want to ride more spirited and hang off the bike I just put the original seat back on. It's great to have a choice.

I should add that originally I was contemplating a Sargent seat for the Tracer. However Sargent totally messed up their new Tracer GT seat by starting with a seat pan they had for an older MT09 and it did not fit properly.

I had Sargent seats on several bike before the Tracer and they were nice. But their Tracer GT seat was FUBAR

    Here's the e-mail reply I received from Pyramid on August 19, 2020

    Hi Doug,
Yes we have since bought our own Tracer in to complete the fix for this part (as it proved more tricky than we'd expected) and we are close to having a solution.
We hope to have it sorted and back on the market within the next 4 weeks - you will see it appear back on our website as soon as it's ready 👍
    Regards

I tried to order a 072447M rear hugger for my 2019 Yamaha Tracer GT through a local dealer.

    In July they contacted Pyramid and were told;
"We have sold lots of the 072447M hugger, but a small percentage of them have 'cracked' near the mounting points.
At this point it would be unwise to sell further units until we find the definitive solution to this problem."

I'd still like to get one of these huggers. Can you tell me if you've made the fix and if they are available now.

yup its in a mode all day long,,,wheelies in 1st are doable but thats it ,,I have tried and tried ,,,and im full rev and drop the clutch and pull up on bars ,,,,maybe 2 beers cans ,,helps if going up hill ,,so if you like to wheelie dont get the new Tracer with longer wheel base

2019 Tracer GT here. Easy enough to do a wheelie. However I prefer to keep both wheels on the ground. Save my wheelies for off-road riding on a dirt bike not on the Tracer.

  10. I don't live in Georgia, but close. Asheville NC area. I do ride some in northern Georgia both on the curvey roads and also off-road. There's some good off-road in northern GA. I mean northern. We usually ride off-road out of Dillard GA

For road riding we'll get as far south as Helen and Suches. Lot's of interesting roads in north Georgia such as Hwy 28 starting in SC through GA and into NC.

That is the stock replacement for the original hugger. The piece I put on was the extension on the original hugger. Totally different.

The Pyramid 072447M rear hugger is a replacement for the OEM that extends the length of the original hugger by 6 inches (152mm).  The 072446 hugger extension is 5 inches (130mm) longer.

So the 072447M rear hugger replacement offers more protection.

Rode 64 East to 276 had lunch at The Hub. Up 276 to the BRP.  The BRP over to 74 East into Waynesville. Visited some friends who live in Canton. Came back 215 and picked up 64 West. Back into Highlands.

All just standard Bikes and Mountains pictures.  Except the last one of grass.

I was trying to turn around in a wide area on the BRP, not the paved ones. At a wide area with a dirt shoulder  and a little grass.  I got too close to the edge and the bike slid down the mountain right out from underneath me. 🥺  I just laid the bike on it's side with no damage to anything but my pride. 🙁 I didn't  get a picture of the bike laying there because a young man in a car saw it happen and pulled over immediately. We started it up and with him pushing and stabilizing the rear we walked it back up on the hard pack.

Glad you're OK and the bike received no damage.

I'm very familiar with the route you took as I live in the area. When you're up this way and want some tips for great roads to ride send me a PM

There is a replacement hugger available for the Tracer GT

    I've had on on order however there was a problem with a few units breaking at the attaching point. I contacted Pyramid and they told me this;

  14. I've had my GT since last September. I came of a Africa Twin and a 98 VFR.  I think the Yamaha is a great bike for touring. I've changed the screen to an MRA screen and now have a Terry Adcox seat. Also have changed the suspension both ends to Ohlins. It took me a while to get used to the situp riding style after the VFR but it's starting to work for me. Never thought much about cruise control and don't ride many places where I can use it but it's great when I can. The CP3 engine is a gem. Overall it's a great touring bike!

  15. I bought my 2019 Tracer GT with a1,000 miles on it from a Yamaha rep in Asheville NC

Don't know how he rode it but I ride fairly aggressive in the mountains

The D222 tires were toast at 3,900 miles

I'm used to good performance tires so they were replaced with Michelin PR5's that feel a lot more confidence inspiring

All in all the OEM tires were not too bad!

I only rarely ride two up, though I do take a bunch of longer trips packing gear, and push the bike really aggressively.

Where did you get the spring for the rear?  Realistically, I'm just not going to be able to afford a whole new shock any time soon ($1000usd -> $1350cad; ouch), so I'd be open to getting a stiffer spring, even if not as stiff as they recommend.  As it stands now, I can bottom the stock shock out *hard*, which is both pretty painful and also super sketchy if it happens at speed in a corner.

You might try Cogent Dynamics. They're located in North Carolina

I know they have built shocks for MT09's
