Finished up my winter maintenance and then cleaned and polished all of the nooks and crannies. I had a Techmount phone holder/charger that failed after 2 years. It had a cable connection to the phone and the jack wore out. I just replaced it with a Tackform wireless holder/charger. It was twice as expensive but the whole thing is made out of metal and the reviews were stellar so I bit the bullet. The thing is solid and you can turn it on and off if you have a direct to battery hookup. Time will tell if it was worth the investment.

Just to throw my 2 cents in, I wear an LS2 Valiant. This modular has a chin bar that rotates 180deg so you don't get the sail effect when it's open at speed. It has a drop down sun visor and comes with a pinlock all for around $300. Helmet preference is as diverse as tire preference. Just thought I would throw this option out there.

I agree about the look of the pictures. Certainly can make things look taller, shorter, bigger, smaller...........
I also have a modular helmet (Scorpion) that I really like but I am considering a modular like the LS2 that will let you pull the front all the way over and back so that you can ride with it open if that is what you want. Especially at slower speeds and for short periods. Not to change the purpose of this topic but how do you like the LS2?
Love it. This is my 2nd one. I had an accident with the 1st one on an FJR and the helmet was damaged but the chin guard held up. The price is right too. I recommend it.

I agree, honestly the dual screen dash is nice once you're over the vanity and not having to view all the info in 1 screen. And the handling coupled with the lightness and flickability makes it a fun fast ride. After I updated to a LV exhaust with an ECU flash, it truly opened up the bike and made it smoother.
Can you give some info on your ECU flash? I have been waiting for Ivan to come out with one for the '21 and up models but haven't seen one yet. I am looking for one that will address the flat spot in the torque output in 2nd gear and I want to be able to engage the cruise control in any gear and at lower speeds.

I don't know how tall the stock screen is. I just know the wind noise for me was deafening. The pictures taken inside exaggerate the height. If you look at the one taken outside it doesn't look that tall. I have the Madstad adjusted as high as it will go with an angle that directs the wind over the top of my helmet. You can drop the height and angle to give you air on your helmet if you want. I switched to a white modular helmet preventing the heat from building up inside so I don't need to depend on the vents to keep my head cool . I can also open the chin guard and shield at low speeds to catch some air. Everyone has their own preferences for setting up their bike and equipment and no one is wrong in that respect. This is what works for me.

I bought the 22" in light grey. I am 5'9" and it works great. No wind on my helmet just a nice breeze on my chest coming from the side of the screen. It's like riding in a car with the windows open. It comes with its own mounting bracket and small side wings. You can adjust the height and angle using 2 hand turn knots. It is engineered to allow air flow along the back side of the screen making it extremely stable at speed. It's not cheap but IMHO it's worth every penny.

Congratulations on the new bike! The wind noise and buffeting from the stock screen on my '21 drove me nuts. After researching aftermarket solutions and listening to reviews and opinions I landed on Madstad. Bought one, installed and adjusted it, and the problem completely went away. Quietest ride I have ever had wind-wise. It's a well engineered product. If you're looking for recommendations here's my vote (for whatever thats worth).

What model year is it for?
-
Sorry for the delayed response. It is an Abba Sky Lift and it is awesome! You can raise the front end into a wheelie, the rear into a stoppie or raise both at the same time. It is on wheels so you can roll the bike around with ease. You can place the bike right up against a wall and store it out of the way for any length of time. No more jacks or lifts or ratchet straps. This thing does it all and I don't regret for a minute spending the money on it.

Just thinking out loud here... Since the Tracer continually evolves more and more toward touring comfort/amenities and since the FJR1300 (and Honda's ST1300) has been discontinued, I really wish that they additionally offered the Tracer as a slightly larger package, maybe 1100cc along with the 900 and 700 Tracers, like Honda does with their adventure line, 500x, 750 Transalp and 1100 Africa Twin.
Owning both the smaller 900 and a larger VFR1200x adv/touring bike (and riding them back to back quite often), I enjoy having the option of a large, sturdy, planted, relaxed feel of a larger FJR, C14, Versys 1000 style bike while on longer highway road trips. I find the larger VFR extremely agile, with exceptional handling and light steering and its weight only rears its ugly head when the engine is off and I am pushing into or pulling out of the garage.
I think a Tracer 1100 or 1200 GT+ would be awesome. Am I crazy? 🤷♀️
How about using the MT10 as the platform?

I have the T-stems, and I love them. I only have to remove the sensors to change the battery. I can check air pressure with or top off a tire any time.
I also installed the T-stems when I changed the tire. You wind up using more weights to balance your tires since they are heavier. Along with being more convenient, I didn't like the idea of removing and reinstalling the caps every time I needed to top off with air. Probably not an issue but just seemed like it might be putting unnecessary wear and tear on the sensor. The app also gives tire temperature so you know when your tires are warmed up.

I’m late to reply here, and the other guys chimed in already with good advice - Here’s my $0.02…
Nothing really wrong but bear in mind a torque wrench is really only accurate in the middle 80% or so of it’s range. So if the scale of your 3/8 is 5-100 ft Lbs for example, it’s not going to be very accurate at 5-10 or 90-100 foot lbs (rough numbers). If you tighten the fastener slowly you can get by, but it’s best to use a wrench where the torque value you are trying to achieve falls more in the middle of its range.
my digital SnapOn torque wrenches are a bit more forgiving because they are more accurate than the more common mechanical style ones. However I still use a 1/2” drive wrench for axle torque (67-110ft) or a 1/4” drive wrench for a smaller fastener that requires 6, 7, 8 and 10 ft lb (for example)
(this is probably a bad analogy but it would be like using a framing hammer to install shingles on a roof?)
on a side note, that Abba lift stand in your pictures is wicked!
-skip
Good info. Thanks Skip. The stand is phenomenal. You can raise the front, the rear or level. Giving my Pitbull and the black pipe lift I made to my brother in law for his new FJR since I won't need them anymore.

It’s too big a torque wrench for 12lb I use a 1/4” for anything under 20lb, 3/8” for anything over, and my 1/2” for anything over 50lb.
Right tool for every job. Not everyone has such range, but a 1/4” torque wrench is very useful for working on bikes as they use lots of small bolts on soft aluminium cases.
Got it. Thanks.

I never do that, just wait for display to shut off 🤣
It’s also NOT advisable to use a 3/8” drive torque wrench on a fastener that calls for 12 Nm of torque.

I am a carpenter by trade and a wanna-be shade tree mechanic so advice is welcome. What is wrong with using the 3/8 on a low torque bolt? (The wrench is not digital)

You should unwind your torque wrench to zero as soon as you are done using it for storage.
I actually do. I had used it on a different bolt just before I picked it up and performed my bone head move.

I forgot to reset my torque wrench while I was installing a belly pan bracket and snapped off an oil pan bolt. Those suckers are only torqued to 9.6 ft/lbs and my wrench was set at 32.😖 Had to remove the oil pan to get at it which entailed disconnecting the radiator from it's mounting points so I could drop the exhaust. Fortunately there was enough protruding to get a vise grip on it. I had just taken delivery on my new Abba Skylift which made the job a lot less painful. That thing is worth every penny.

I ordered one last Sunday and received it Thursday. I received this email on Friday:
Good afternoon,
It has come to our attention that there is a design flaw in our new Tracer9 Hugger – 072453M/072453R.
This is causing some models to break on the rearmost mounting point, on the chain side of the bike.
We have already designed a new bracket to solve this issue and will be ready to supply it within 2/4 weeks.
Please remove the product from your bike as soon as possible to prevent any potential damage – we will supply the additional bracket direct to you as soon as stock arrives.
Our sincere apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused, we are working as fast as we can to rectify this issue.
Thank you for choosing Pyramid.
Best regards,
Adam

What bag is that on the rear? How do you like it?
It's a Nelson Rigg and I like it a lot. There are different sizes and this is the touring model. It looks great and expands to 33 liters. Amazon has a great price on it...

Seat is stock comfort (not heated), belly pan is Pyramid, bag rack is stock, mirror extenders are Evotech. You can get the same style of extenders on ebay, much cheaper. 👍
Thanks for comments.👍
Thanks Kenny! Ride it like you stole it...

What did you do to your FJ-tracer-gt today?

Actually my desk is a mess. I have been in construction for over 40 years and, if I didn't keep the garage organized, the number of tools I have accumulated would make it impossible to move or find anything. What you see in the photos is only the tip of the iceberg so I am OCD out of necessity.
As for the charger I just mounted it last night so I don't have a performance review yet. I will say that the phone is held very securely and there is no movement in the mount so I don't think vibration will affect the wireless connection. It is constructed from aluminum so I don't think it will get too hot in the sun. None of the reviews I read mention any problems in those areas. My initial impression is it is a solid, extremely well made device. It also offers multiple mounting options. Again, time will tell if I made a good choice.
