    Hey there,

I am in the middle of tearing the bike down for a bunch of maintenance (Oil, Coolant, Air Filter, Valve check, Sprockets, Chain, Plugs, etc...)

While the bike is open, the ECU is out and able to be shipped easily.

Curious if anyone knows (and I can call Ivans on Monday as well to check) Is the ECU reflash worth it on a completely stock bike?  Keeping the stock filter, exhaust, plugs... (the chassis has upgrades with Ohlins all around but that's not relevant) I do like some of the features of his flash.

Just curious if anyone here has had his work done on a stock ride.

I have on my 2015 FJ-09 although I had put a BMC AIRFILTER and a Competition Werkes Slip-on on it. I think it's well worth it.

It tames the throttle on and off a bit amongst a lot of things.

Now here's something you don't often hear on this site....

At my first valve inspection at 21k miles ALL my valves were within spec on my 2016 FJ09.

The inspection was done by a Yami dealer.  I stressed to him I was happy to pay for the re-shiming and wanted it done if needed.

I picked up the bike today and was told no valves were out of spec and no adjustment was required.  Here are the numbers the tech noted:

    RANGE        .260mm - .300mm                  110mm - .200mm

    CYL 1.  EX - .279mm  .270mm          INT -- .152mm.    .178mm

    CYL  2  EX - .279mm.  .279mm         INT --  .152mm     .127mm

    CYL 3  EX -  .30mm     .279mm.        INT --   .152mm.  .152mm

Needless to say, I was shocked.  99% of what is reported here about valves indicates exhaust valves will be really tight at the first inspection.  I don't doubt your findings, but I guess I'm a one per-center!

For those that think the dealer might have been lazy and just made up the numbers, I wondered about that also. Then I realized he lost $400 in pure labor by not re-shimming.  (Estimate was $850 and bill ended up being $450. )

The old air filter was filthy and should have been changed 10k mikes ago.  The old plugs were well worn and probably the originals.  Should have been replaced at 15k.

On one hour ride home the bike ran very strong thanks to new plugs and TB sync.  Life is strange!

In December I had an independent mechanic check my valves on my 2015 FJ09 at 23,000 and same as you, mine were all in tolerance.

I purchased the bike June 2021 with 16,600 miles on it so it may have already had an adjustment done.

I had him clean and sync TB's and install some laser Iridium Plugs and Andreani cartridges that I got last year, it cost me $500 witch I think is a pretty good deal.

At least she's ready for riding season. I love my bike except for the wobble past 100, maybe the cartridges fixed that.

This December I want to do slipper clutch and 2019 swingarm.

  3. My 2015 fj-09

Well I didn't do it today but over half of December, finally got it out of the shop just after New Year.

Some routine maintenance, got the Valves adjusted, didn't need it at 23,600mi. I got the bike summer 2021 with 16,600mi on it so it may have been done already. it didn't sound like it needed it.

Got the plugs replaced with Laser Iridium. Throttle Body's cleaned and all. So the upgraded plugs, also had Andreani fork cartridges installed. Iv done a K-Tech rear shock, Galfer rotors, Competition Werkes Slip-on, Sargent seat along with other stuff.

Let me say, "THE BIKE IS READY FOR RIDING SEASON BOYS"...

This winter I think I'll have the Slipper clutch put in and the 2018-19 Swing Arm installed along with the routine stuff.

    I love this bike.

Nah, Im 51 years old and ride for fun and my mental health, I did hit 118 MPH the other day per GPS and had plenty left. :)

Same here. I have 5 years on you, I like fast but curves are better. It's all about the right time and place for it.

Looking for a stock exhaust didn't know till I looked on OEM parts that the whole exhaust is 1 piece. CAT is made to the pipes. Bent tubes, need stock exhaust to replace. Not into piping the bike. Stock is what I want.

ONE OF THE FIRST THINGS THAT I DID AFTER BUYING MY 2015 FJ-09 last year was dropping the 25 or 30 pound catalyst by installing a slip-on called "COMPETITION WERKES"

It took some work but it was really worth it.

I love my Competition Werkes. It's a half pipe and took some work to put on but it's half the price of a full system. I can't imagine any other pipe sounding any better, I absolutely love it. I painted the header half with high temp black.

I've had both. Ended up staying with Corbin and sold the Sargent.

I think I saw another Corbin in the for sale section with the red piping. Check @Jfundo

I've got the Sargent. I haven't tried the Corbin. I have broken my tailbone twice. The stock seat was very uncomfortable just 20 minutes in on my two hour ride home from where I purchased my 2015 fj-09. The Sargent is great. I took a 2.5 hrs ride to go see my Niece's and Nephew last month and I had some discomfort with about 45 minutes to go but it's a lot better than the stock seat.

After almost two years, I can reply to my own question:  Yes, I have ridden a Triumph Speed Twin!   And I liked it so much, I bought one… 😀

The 2022 models finally brought a few upgrades I wanted (320mm Brembo brakes & inverted forks, primarily), so I decided to start looking seriously.  I scored a reasonable deal on a new one at a dealer in Temple, Texas (about three hours away), so I picked it up yesterday and rode it home… 225 ‘getting to know you’ break-in miles.

My initial impression:  It’s going to be a spectacular motorcycle.
Ergonomics are great… typical sport standard layout, and it’s just big enough that it fits me fine at 6’1”.  The fit & finish is gorgeous.   And that motor… Jesus, that motor! I'm trying to be at least somewhat respectful of break-in rpm recommendations, but I can tell it has A LOT of motor...  gobs of torque.

I got rained on for part of the trip yesterday, so today it got its first bath.  I feel like this is the beginning of a great relationship…

Good looking bike. Looks like the Kaw z900rs but no monoshock rear suspension.

As well, i found that cruise control does not function.

So I'm pretty sure why this is happening. I tore the bike apart last night and checked the ecu part #.

    BS2-8591A-10 is what I have.

This ecu is for an MT-09, not a Tracer 900GT. Part # for a Tracer ecu is:

    B1J-8591A-00

I assume this would cause these issues, but correct me if I'm mistaken. Seems like my ecu got switched in the mix? Emailed the tuner to inquire.

Who flashed that thing is what I want to know. Ivan did an awesome flah on my 2015 fj-09 ecu.

the problem im having, is that when passing cars and then slowing back down, the front of the bike sways side to side like a mild case of a tank slapper that only goes away when back down to around 60ish. i think part of it is the large windscreen and the large panniers i have on the bike causing massive amounts of drag and bad aero. im hoping the longer swingarm can cure or at the least help out with it.

I have the 2015 FJ-09, just got it last July and I recently took off the windshield and handguards because it's hot enough and wobble, it seems to have helped about 10mph. It was 95mph that wobble started so now its at about 115 with or without the panniers

  12. If I'm buying an additional bike it will have inverted forks and rear mono shock suspension. I want a 2022 r1 oh my.

I loved my first bike too. 1982 Seca 400cc, I was 19yo but I'm totally in love with my 2015 fj-09. I've done a lot of upgrades to it.

  13. Nice, I think the accents on the seats match the rest of the bike very nicely. I purchased the Sargent seats and am in love with them myself.

I got mine last July and I think the best upgrade is putting on the Competition Werkes Slip-on. My bike immediately lost about 25.lbs plus the Ivan's ECU flash made a great bike better
