I bet the technicians among us recognize the classic preparations here for spark plug replacement before the Throttle Body Synch:

    No photo description available.

I have a renewed appreciation for those having tiny, girlie hands/fingers to be able to easily work around in this engine bay; my sausage-fingers and ham-hands are a poor fit here. 😕  Removing that AIS plumbing was a real treat, and it is not going back in; a set of Graves Blockoff plates are inbound to replace that AIS mess.  I have a fair amount of electrical  work to to before final reassembly anyway, so no prob to wait on the Blockoff Plates to arrive. 👍

Did slip-on and ECU flash with removing AIS plumbing and Graves Blockoff plates

I didn't do spark plugs and Throttle Body Synch yet, that'll be after Valve clearance and Timing Chain inspection / adj.

Should be as smooth and strong as it gets after that.

PS. No girlie hands or fingers here but yeah, it's hard to work in there

  2. I'm sorry to keep going on and on about MY bike but it's the only one I know right now, he he.

So I  filled it up with 93oc as always and took a ride with my new summer jacket on a 40°f sunny day, had under layers on.

I must say "again" wow, I had the most thrilling ride I've ever experienced. The confidence in my ride, the power and speed but nothing crazy. The cool air gave my engine great and noticeable more torque. Fun, fun, omg!

I'm sure that the stuff that I did over the winter has a lot to do with it, plus the cold air.

The tires were warm because I had been on a 40 mile ride so far before the last bit of tight twistys of about 3 miles before I got home.

I've done some excellent things to this bike and it rides awesome.

Here's a map of the road. There are curves with radiuses of 150 or 200 feet with super elevated pavement So fun....

  3. I'm putting this on my 2015 fj-09 when I get it in the mail, should be on Wednesday or so.

Throttle lock for a 5 hour trip to Cape Hatteras in mid August.

I wish that I had it Thanksgiving morning when I left my house near Martinsville and rode to Raleigh. I left the house in 27°f and my right hand took a beating. I had not flashed my ECU yet and between the vibration and cold, omg. It's crazy how the flash got rid of the vibration.

  4. I am thrilled with what I wound up doing to mine. I watched a lot of exhaust mod videos on YouTube and shopped around. I decided to go with the  Competition Werkes Slip-on. It LOOKS and sounds awesome. I knew it would be loud so I went ahead and got the Baffle, tried it like that but it was still too loud so I got some fiberglass and wrapped it, now it's perfect.

I painted the front half of the exhaust black after I cut the 30 pound converter off. It wasn't hard to do.

I and many of my friends have gotten some variety of "aren't you old enough to know better?" from cops once the helmet comes off and the graying, thinning hair and beard emerge.

Dammit, let the old farts have this one advantage...

Some old guys buy young girls "not to keep for ever of course" and some buy young bikes. LOL

    Good story.

I knew a guy who was 78 and still rode a ZX6R, and he could ride fast in the twisties.  He was very fit from riding a bicycle every day and always wore full gear on his motorcycle, so it was impossible to tell he was an older rider.  He was stopped by the police and when he pulled off his helmet the cop just looked at him and said, "Oh hell no".😆

Yeah, that might be some of the looks I get. I'm 55 and 6,1 230. When I don't have the case's on "especially" the bike looks like a rice rocket so to speak. It is.

I'm still young at heart, I play video games too.

  7. I patronize my local small business. When I pull in a parking lot and park my bike a lot of times someone has something to say about it. Good or bad. 99% good thank goodness. They say what is that? Not seeing the small Yamaha logo on the side. Most people don't know what the tuning forks are anyway but love the bike's looks. They love the way it sounds too as I do. I got this thing last summer and did some magical upgrades and now it is a unbelievable performer on highway and the twistys. Looks great, rides great.

I'm so in love with my bike.

I hope you guys are in love with you're bike like that.

As far as Shinkos go I've ran both the Raven and the newer Verge on previous bikes. On the rear the Raven gets far more mileage. Not sure on the front.

Ive found that a lot with tires through the years. What makes a great rear tire doesn't make a great front in the same model.

When I got this bike it had a Shinko Verge front and it had good tread and grip but it wore out very quickly.

Yeah I looked at that Raven but noticed they got a bad rap,,Only 4 k sounds harsh to me ,,so far so good with Verge .

I have to say the Battlax that game with my old fz 07 lasted a long friggin time ,I replaced that at over 10 k and could have gone longer ,,and I was anything but gentle on that bike

Raven had the best reviews by far over any other Shinko tire to choose from on the web site at hand and that's why I got one. I don't regret it because I only payed $97 for it a "190/50 17", it had good grip. I felt safe on it and I'd get another one if in a low cash pinch. I'm moving up the latter one at a time. This bike is not new but it is to me. After this Pirelli Angel ST I will get a Michelin Road 5 or 6, what ever good deal comes along. Hopefully I'll ride long enough to try them all, A to Z

    Micheline snobery ,,,overpriced

Shinko for me ,,I have the 011 verge ,,love  them and the price  ,4 K on them and they look new ,,can't comment on wet roads since I never ride in rain if possible ,but we did get caught in a massive downpour for a few hours and they were fine

I have a Shinko Raven on the rear. It' seems okay but I have not been in rain with it. It needs replacing at 4000mi and I haven't doged it. The tread pattern doesn't look like it would disperse water like the Michelin Road 5 or Pirelli Angel ST IMHO.

I've read a lot on this forum about modifying the standard exhaust and am thinking about going down this route. I don't like very loud exhausts but at the same time I find the OEM to be a tad too tame, can hardly tell it's a triple sometimes!😄 There's plenty of choice out there for slip on cans and the one I'm drawn to is the Scorpion but I'm on a tight budget and have blown most of it on a Nitron shock and crash protection. The mod seems simple enough and I'll be able to get someone with the welding skills I need, I'm just wondering about other folks experiences. I'll be cutting the 'S' pipe but am not sure how big to make the hole into the CAT section of the exhaust. Can anybody advise if they've done this mod and can compare it with the Scorpion? cheers

I'm very happy with what I did to mine. Cut off the ugly as hell 30 pound converter, painted front half black. Put on 8 pound Competition Werkes Slip-on. I did get the $40 baffle so $600 and a couple hours work total. I did 4 coats of paint.

I'll try to condense this as much as i can, i just gotta share how i feel haha!

Just did my first ride today on my new T9 (GT spec except the suspension basically).
Short backstory, i just turned 24 and have been on bikes for 6 years now. My background consists of quite a pretty classic modern bikes, CB650F, GSX-S1000, VFR 800/1200 and now the Tracer 9. I'v done roughly 110.000 kilometers on two wheels which i think equates to something like 60.000miles?

Today was 5-7 degrees celcius, and i was somehow totally comfortable. Wind protection with the stock screen was really good in terms of keeping me warm and comfy, i somehow liked the stock seat at least for the couple of hours i spent on it.
The windscreen issues many describe were totally present, but did not bother me very much. Part of it may be the way i sit on the bike, very forward with my upper body, so the windblast i did get was still relativly slow moving.
OMG the engine, it is seriously good, i stille struggle to comprehend how much i enjoy it.
Smooth and predictable everywhere in the powerband. Down low it feels potent and easy to manage, but take it above 5-6k RPM and it really comes alive with an EPIC induction noise as it surges towards the top of the RPM range. The level of power on tap is in my opinion extremely respectable for street use.
Too early to really talk about how it handles etc. Felt light, nimble and playfull. Brakes were OK, still bedding in.
Really really stoked about the bike, the quickshifter and cruise control are GREAT, cant wait to take the T9 on many adventures!

A good picture of it would be nice. Happy for you. Ride on.

Pirelli Angel GT and Michelin Pilot Road 5.

Just got my 2015 Yamaha FJ-09 in July. The rear was worn out already. 1st replacement was Shinko Raven now need to replace it after about 4000mi. I got a Pirelli Angel ST. We'll see how it goes. I wanted a Michelin Road 5 but I saved $100.

  14. OMG, I  dropped my FJ in the parking lot at a hardware store. Slow rolling and turning to sharp, aaaaahhhh.....  Smashed my slip-on.

I guess if I very litely buff it, maybe it  will  come out but it's bent also.
