  1. Hi all

I learnt a little more about my swingarm. It is the Police model, B56-22110-00 MT09TRP REAR ARM COMP which at 710mm is the longest available, about 95mm longer than my 2017 model Tracer's.

The one I thought I was getting was the 18-20 model B5C-22110-00 REAR ARM COMP which at 670mm is about 55mm longer.

I learnt that beause the Pyramid Plastics rear hugger I ordered wont fit. lol

Anyone interested in a brand new hugger at a very good price??

    Cheers

  2. Hi all

Thanks everyone, I have learnt a lot from the chat on this thread. I replaced the swingarm at Christmas and have now done a few rides .... and I really like it.

I sourced a 2018 swingarm and required extra bits from France and with airfreight it was cheaper than buying one locally in Australia,,,. The swingarm is 89mm longer, the linkages are the same but the linkage mount on the swingarm is 5mm wider. Beyond a 12 link longer chain the only other adjustment was to wind on 4mm more rear pre-load on my Mupo GT1 shock with 11.5k spring to get a similar rider sag setting.

It tracks through corners better, absobs bumps more easily (our roads are even more shite after record rains) and I can wind on power earlier and hold my line out of corners. It was initially less agile tipping into the corner but that changed when I added the 4th mm of preload and it is now close to what it was with the standard swingarm.

I am now very, very happy with my squat.

    Cheers

  3. Hi @bwringer and @texscottyd

Thank you for your messages and the information provided.

The problem I am looking to improve is to keep the front wheel down a little more. This is a fun problem and I enjoy it, but a little more steering at times under throttle would be nice!

I usually ride with luggage and, being tall, my weight is a fair way back so I figure that with a longer rear arm I can keep more weight on the front.

I did a search previously however I found this today by chance, it may be the article referred to: https://www.tracer900.net/topic/11050-tracer-swingarm-on-fj/

Thanks again and I will let you know how I go.

    Cheers

  4. I use a Slipscreens Sport Touring screen and being shorter and wider than the OEM screem it reduced the buffeting significantly  https://www.slipscreens.co.uk/product/yam-mt09-tracer-sports-touring-screen/

I did back to back to back comparisons between the OEM screen, the Slipscreen Sport Touring screen and the Slipcreen Sports Screen 12" to come to this outcome.

I did Dremel out a little more of the side cutout to clear the handlebar on full turn but that was a simple job.

  5. Hi team

Has anyone fitted the longer GT swingarm onto a FJ09 / MT09 Tracer? I would like to give the conversion a go.

From some images, the design of the GT forks look to be diferent which may impact clearance to the exhaust.  I haven't had a chance to do any measurements.

    Thank you for any insights.

    Cheers

  6. Hi there

By chance has anyone run a GPR high level exhaust with Yamaha OEM panniers, such as this one?

    https://www.gpr.it/en/prodotto/gpr-exhaust-system-yamaha-mt-09-tracer-fj-09-tr-2017-20-e4-homologated-full-line-exhaust-catalized-furore-evo4-nerohigh-level/

GPR say they will fit but I "may need the adjust the exhaust flow". In some images they show smaller Givi panniers on a Tracer MT 09 / FJ 09 but from what I can tell by looking at their photos it would be touch and go as to whether they would fit with the OEM panniers.

    Thank you.

    Cheers

So after getting the flash from 2wheeldynoworks I completely love this exhaust. It pulls hard up top and hasn't lost anything down low. Great sound on throttle and not obnoxious around town

    Hi beanburnham

How are you enjoying the pipe a few years in? Do you find it OK for longer tours or is it too loud?

    Cheers
