sk8nsanta
Got back home Tuesday night from a 7 day trip up to Montreal for the F1 race. We rode for 4 days, and had 3 full days doing the F1 activities at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. I led 3 other riders and 1 car up and back. Had about 2.5 good days of riding out of the 4, with wet, cold weather and some highway slabbing in the mix. Round trip was a little over 1,500 miles, and the FJ did awesome. After this trip I don't see myself changing out the seat as I really had no issues, windscreen is still up for debate. As for the race weekend itself, definitely a great experience and I'm glad I made the effort. F1 certainly has a certain aurora to the whole thing and it was something else seeing the cars in person. Highly recommended to anyone who follows the sport. Here's a ton of pictures and the end routes: Going up: https://goo.gl/maps/6MHyBcpQCrj Coming Back: https://goo.gl/maps/mJWZ4iAJwLy Leaving morning of 6/8 Didn't make it too far before having to pull over and throw on the rain gear on Rt 15 Approaching Forestport NY on Rt 8, which was a great little ride Morning 2, leaving the cabin we stayed in Lunch stop in Lake Placid Getting lost At the border After a surprisingly difficult time crossing the border we were almost to Montreal Biosphere Walking the bridge to get over to the circuit Crows and merch tents for the different teams The group Way less crowded for practice day Hamming it up with some local Got to the start/finish against the fence for qualifying Poutine Race morning near the front entrance, we were near the front of the line, about 20 minutes later it looked like this behind us Kimi Vettel Ricciardo On track after the race, we walked the whole circuit to let the metro crowds die down Wall of champions Gearing up to leave Montreal Rt 2 south on our way to south Burlington Stopped for a quick bite to eat in Shelburne, VT And found what I had been after....Heady Topper The pavement just stopped going up and over the mountain on Rt 17 near Camels Jump State Forest....switched to B mode real fast Rt 100 through Vermont is a beautiful ride Our cabin at Hunter Mountain, NY where we stayed our final night before heading back home fin. adjuster
Too bad I'm so far away, but great photos and great trip too! No F1 in Idaho. Bummer. Not even close either. Texas is about as close as it gets.
