prn
Finally, Portland got its break from the hot weather. It was a perfect day for a ride so I decided to leave early from work and went for a ride. McKenzie pass is been on my ride bucket list for a long time so I thought I should give it a shot. I left work (Canby OR ) at 1 PM and went to Silver falls state park. From there I took Hwy 22 to Detroit Lake. Had late lunch at Korner Post restaurant and continued on Hwy 22. Took Hwy OR -126 to Belknap Springs. Past Belknap Springs, the byway swings east onto OR-242, the McKenzie Highway. Snow closes this seasonal road each winter before it reopens to vehicles in June. This is an awesome road with lots of twisties. I took a short break at Dee Wright Observatory. Continued till Sisters, OR and took Hwy 20 and I-5 back home. It was my first 7+ hours day ride and I really enjoyed it.
redfjniner
Nice ride and write up. I have done 242 twice this year and it is in great shape. Always a must ride if you are in the area.
