Old washers and tape removed. I see the way that I was doing it wasn't necessarily providing a good perch for the rubber feet of the seat. I pulled the plastic side pieces down and off and noticed the feet were barely on the plastic tray.

New washers installed as per Winterdark's instructions. Taping the ones to the frame was a bit of a challenge. If the mod works, i'll revisit it and remove the tank bracket and do a better job.

Currently have it in the high position and it feels good....A test ride tomorrow will see if it works for my butt! I had to stop wrenching on anything else in the garage as it was reading 35 Celcius in there. Back in the house with a beer and a balmy 19.5C. Thank Dog for AC. :)

    Cheers

I just bought a used ‘19 Tracer GT that was missing the seat bracket (I ordered one) which is similar to the Super Tenere seat bracket.  On my Super Tenere,  I was able to use  taped wheel weights to stick to the frame in order to raise the seat bracket in the front to level things out.......works great and the weights don’t move/everything is solid.  It looks like the same mod will work on the Tracer GT and will post some photos when my seat bracket arrives......I need some more leg room with a 35” inseam!

  2. I would change the oil and filter at 600 miles if I had purchased my bike new.  It is a very easy job on the Tracer 900 with the filter and oil drain plug accessibility.   I purchased my 2019 Tracer GT with 4400 miles and plan on doing the oil/filter change at 5000......just because.

  3. Old thread renewed........I drilled out the left footpeg pin in a few minutes using a 1/2 drill bit.  It was pretty easy to do and I installed an 8mm bolt/nut combo until my new pegs and replacement clevis pin arrive.  This was done on my 2019 Tracer GT.

  4. Well, I picked up and rode home my new to me Tracer GT. It was an interstate drone ride for about 190 miles. The bike was smooth, the cruise control works superb, suspension compliance on crappy Illinois roads was decent, the quick shifter was cool, the stock foot pegs suck, and this bike is a keeper!

The bracket to raise the seat was missing and will have to be ordered as I need the leg room + I will be ordering some lower pegs.....in the mean time my OEM Super Tenere pegs will be installed. I ordered a side stand big foot to help the lame stock side stand.

This will complement my 2015 Super Tenere and 2021 Tenere 700.

  5. Hello forum members,

I bought a used ‘19 Tracer 900 GT today which will be in addition to bikes currently owned.......2021 Yamaha Tenere 700,  2017 Kawasaki Versys-X 300, and my 2015 Yamaha Super Tenere.

I have been riding for 49+ years and have been in interested in the FJ 09/Tracer for a while.  I was not able bring my Tracer GT home yet as I am waiting on a back ordered trailer hitch for my CUV (Covid delay?) and it was raining.  I am looking forward riding it.

I bought my FJ09 in 2017 from Big St. Charles Motorsports. They offer good deals, but they're kind of shady. I told them I didn't want the YES warranty, but they snuck one in anyway. Shame on me for not noticing. Fortunately I was able to cancel it and get 95% of my money back.

A year or so afterwards, I was notified of a class action lawsuit against them, apparently they had been putting fee's claiming they were "taxes".

All that being said, I would probably buy there again because the price was so low. Just be prepared to double check the paperwork and play hardball.

I purchased a '13 Super Tenere and '17 Versys-X 300 from the Holzhauer ProMotorsports (owns Big St Charles Motorsports)......knowing their sales process, I clarify everything before completing the sale.  They advertise low prices, but add shipping, set up, and other fees if you don't pay attention.

I did get a great price on both bikes.....out the door with all costs included.

  7. I am thinking about buying a Tracer 900 GT and selling my 2015 Super Tenere......wondering about the ergos for tall people like me. I am 6'4" with a 35" inseam.........plus tired, old knees. I want a lighter motorcycle as my travel/long ride bike and the Tracer GT has the lower weight and features needed. I also have a Tenere 700 and Versys-X 300 for other riding duty.

So, who has owned a Super Tenere and has replaced it with the Tracer GT?? Tall, long leg people preferably. My Super Tenere has handlebar risers, tall windshield, lower pegs, and a taller seat mount....pretty comfortable for me. I am looking to shed about 100-125 by selling the S10 and replacing it with the GT.

Good move??  Thanks for any info.

I asked the same on advrfider.com .....cut/paste is the reason the info above is colored wrong??
