I've been a lifelong Yamaha guy. The FJ is my 8th. It's the first one that I've needed to have something warranteed.
Yamaha refused to take care of the problem(s) on my brand new bike. My dealership is going to though.
The dealer has earned my continued business.
I love my newest Yamaha bike but I'm not satisfied at all with Yamaha the company. I'm my experience they will do anything they can to get out of a repair.

I regularly get 200+ miles per tank. 4200 miles and average 53.2 mpg's. That's US gallons.

I did 450 miles yesterday. Could have done a couple of 100 more if I'd had the time. The stock seat is fine for me.

Remove it the same way you do the larger ones.

The others were easy as I could reach behind and push.

 
If you push the center part in it releases. Are you removing the wind screen and its associated parts?
