8-) 2 Ys don't make a pipe!

:-/ Sorry Papac, 1 more question, did you measure the offset of the S bend pipe cut line from the edge of the top cover hole you original cut open? I know I'm a ball breaker, but, it would help to apply this offset from say the edge of the mounting tabs going across the collector so that the slice to the top yields the same cut as you did when the top cover was removed? Papac, You did mention the S bend pipe is welded to the outlet, right? So, as long as you could cut it from a slice cut at the top going across the chamber, this could be done? That way, the slice along the top requires a shorter strip of my shonky weld! 1 more thing Papac, for the life of me, I don't quite understand how you can leave the lower cover screw tab on the outlet when you have just cut the outlet clean off! I understand you use it to guide the location of the top tab, but how do you use the lower tab to position the new 2" outlet pipe? I'm a virgin.... Remember mate, I don't have a bike yet! Papac, mate, could you sketch these details of the outlet pipe mods please? I'm not sure of the area you are talking about since you have a super FJ-09 & I don't! And, the extra hole! Cheers bud. Steve

Ulewz, make that both eyes! The YMA website is so old now, it's time they updated it to match the euro & NA websites! Anyway folks, I've placed a deposit on a Matt Grey MT-09 Tracer here in Aus with heated handgrips. Since it's so new, no discounts, but fitting of said grips thrown in! Ride away price......AUD$ 16,300. It hurts, but the pain will ease with saddle time. It's great to be finally part of the fraternity! Cheers, Steve

Papac, that sounds deeper than stock. Job well done! Wait till your spring, the fan noise is mixing with the idle. Run it outside. Better still, ride it around. Feel for you guys that have got these new bikes but can't ride them! Cheers, Steve

Papac, could you also take a photo of the muffler from side on? I'm actually starting to rethink my strategy... Does the inlet pipe point down? Is that cover piece you re-welded angle down? Maybe that S piece should be facing the back of the muffler so that the inlet pipe rebounds off the rear face into the reconnected shortened pipe to the outlet?.....it looks angled downwards to my wonky eyes....

It may also make it sound very loud too! Either way papac, good work!

Great discovery papac. Could you have cut down the S tube to match the position of the pipe inlet from the header and seam weld it back to the outlet pipe? Granted, you would only get to seam weld it over half way round the join. You wouldn't need to weld it to the pipe inlet. Just very close to it. Could you try that? Did you investigate which is the inlet pipe from the header? Sorry, you did say the top tube! Cheers, Steve

G'day Mick, mate, this is going to be a ripper machine! Yamaha Aus has just completed a 2 day press review up your way...Wollumbi I think, the only Australian online press test I have found is cycleonline.com.au! It's a short test, but he gives it a thumbs up! Mick buddy, i will find out very soon what it's going to cost me, anytime you're ready, head down here and well get a better deal! I'm waiting on the cost of the heated grips & fitting plus the OR costs. RRP is 14,999 includes those hard bags, centre stand and whatever we see standard from our OS brothers & sisters. I know for a fact our indicators are clear lenses with amber bulbs. Naturally, LEDs will be extra. I'd say all up, about $16.5K ride away. If you would also like heated grips, we'll get them to throw those in! It's our Aussie group buy version! Either way, keep us posted & good luck, enjoy the ride! Cheers, Steve

Folks, thanks first to Cruizin for creating this regional section board! So, hopefully Australia will soon be getting a delivery of this fantastic new bike! I'm probably not the first in line, but it'll be close. I noticed on the Yamaha Global website under the product search section of motorcycles, if you search for "MT-09TRA" for model & select "AUS" under location, you get to see the versions and differences of what should become available for Aus. The differences are the indicators are clear with amber bulbs and there are no front amber reflectors, only the red rear ones on the side..... They are coming off first thing! The Matt Grey does not have bronze coloured rims.... I'll be getting mine at Peter Stevens in Ringwood. I've got a good relationship with Adrian the sales consultant. Nice bloke. He's chasing up the price of the heated hand grips including fitting for me. Also, the OR Costs if it's included. RRP including GST is: $14,999.00 comes with panniers & centre stand as standard. Hi Folks, I thought it would be a fantastic idea to find out what colour FJ-09 you have OR would select? The production number thread is great, but it doesn't tell us the most selected colour by you, the members! :'( I don't have one yet....damn Australia! But I will be selecting a Matt Grey colour. It won't go any faster....it'll be fast enough! So, no replies of which colour is faster! Just for a bit of trivia.... Cheers, Steve

Sorry Cruizin, I didn't quite make myself clear when I stated a legit version. As it clearly states on page 1 pic 2, "...without the written permission of...." So, why not write to Yamaha Global legal to seek permission? What could they say? Shut the forum down before saying "NO!" as pay back? Commercial interests for both parties. Tell them... we'll buy 10 copies for every 50 members... Sell 9 for those that prefer a printed version. You are going to do that anyway. What if they say ok? What if they say buy 50? Tell them you'll have 1000 members before too long! Work it both sides. It was a suggestion. Unclear, yes. Cheers, Steve
