  1. Just the typical questions i guess. Like if it directs over your helmet, buffeting or if it's noisy, that sort of thing. Also is it lightly tinted or clear? Based on internet photos it's hard to tell. If you have time and wouldn't mind posting a photo of yours that would be great.

I bought my tracer back in March here in upstate NY so it was chilly in the 50's when i was breaking it in. I felt the stock windscreen was not enough wind protection in chilly temperatures. Now that we are in a tropical heat wave it is fine. However i will want something better when fall comes. Right now the Puig touring or Yamaha touring windscreen are my interests.

    Thank you

  2. Thanks for posting this. I installed a Bagster seat on my Tracer which took out most of the slope but there is still a smidge left. I was going to try something like this but maybe with pieces of rubber heater hose from under the plastic adjuster. I did that on one of my other bikes and it worked.

  3. Welcome aboard! I just bought a new 19 Tracer GT a couple months ago myself. I joined the forum close to 3 years ago when i purchased my former FJ-09. Good people on here for advice, guidance and general chat. Not overly strict or uppity like some other forums (TriumphRat) lol. Enjoy getting to know your new Bike!

Me and 3 other of my friends took advantage of the 10% that was given and ordered thru chromeburner. Got it within 5 days as well

I installed the seat in the lower position, and yes. It seems much lower than the stock 900/GT seats

I'm about 5'7 and have a 32" inseam. The lower seat seems to mitigate the sloping quite abit (was previously on the high setting on the stock seat)

and i also share the same sentiments as @metallion about the pegs feeling closer than the high seat. (i'm on the replica china FJR pegs)

quaxum- I am about 5'8" with a 30" inseam and also have the FJ/FZ style rubber pegs on my bike. I suppose they are a smidge taller than the stock pegs because of the rubber. I Installed them and rode the bike for a couple weeks before i got the Bagster seat and did not notice any significant difference using them with the stock seat. I swear the Bagster feels shorter to me but so far i am very happy with it as it's very comfortable and looks outstanding.

  5. I noticed this also shortly after i picked my new Tracer GT up. The chain was VERY loose like 65mm of travel. The dealer i bought my Tracer from was a multi-line dealer that also sold dirt bikes. I assumed whoever set that bike up got mixed up with a dirt bike chain spec. I consulted the owners manual that gave a spec of 35-45mm so i adjusted it to 40mm.

This has been an issue for a few years with chain tension on other Yamaha models like my XSR900 and former FJ-09. Those manuals state 5-15mm  which to me is unrealistic and far to tight so i always went around 30mm on those bikes.

I figured on the Tracer GT since the manual gave a realistic spec of 35-45mm that it was believable for that bike. Like betoney said 65-75mm seems like alot of slack.

Which Bagster seat have you ordered? The basic standard one with Ready Luxe or upgraded BULTEX foam?  What's the delivery time generally if ordered from Motostorm.it?

The seat that i ordered was the Ready Luxe with the upgraded Bultex foam. I do not know about the Motostorm.it. I ordered mine from Chromeburner in the Netherlands and it arrived to me in central NY in 5 days. At the time they had then right in stock but have since sold out. Last i looked they only had the base model seats left.

Great day to ride in the Syracuse area yesterday wasn't it metallion?  I'm not far away, I live between Auburn and Weedsport.  As for on-topic discussion, I just ordered this without the heat.  They said 4 to 5 weeks:image.thumb.png.3c44d726e896d1b765e1eb6fc6fe0aff.png

Yes it was Jfundo. We finally got some warm weather this past weekend but now back in the freezer for a while. Got to ride my XSR900 Saturday and my Tracer GT on Sunday. I rode through Auburn on Sunday to get out near Seneca Falls to catch 90 south.

That's a nice seat, i was close to ordering one myself but was worried it may be too tall for me. Where did you order it from? Jim's Motorsports on RT34 between Weedsport and Cato is a Corbin dealer. That's where i ordered my Corbin for my XSR. Better price than internet.

  8. I took my Tracer out yesterday for the maiden voyage on my new Bagster seat. The first thing i noticed was that the seat height seemed lower. With the stock seat (and my previous FJ-09) i always rode with it in the low position so that's how i installed the Bagster. I could actually flatfoot on both sides of the bike which i could not before. I thought the foam could be cut differently on the sides which it may be, but as i got to riding i noticed i felt closer to the foot pegs. There is still some slight forward lean but i would say it's reduced at least by half of the stock seat. I rode it like that for about 50 miles.

After i re-fueled i decided to try it in the high position. Turns out that was just what i needed to reduce some of the bend at my knees. I can still half foot the bike as i could before with the stock seat in the low position and ride very comfortably. I rode like that for the next 100 miles and had no issues. Overall i am very pleased with the Bagster seat in both appearance and comfort.

I found the talk about underwear very interesting and never gave it much thought. Yesterday i was wearing thin boxers so i could probably find more comfort in an actual cycling short of some kind.

Hi is the GT swing arm the same swing arm as used on the Yamaha XSR 900?

As iam looking for rear axle chain adjusters for my GT and if they are the same this opens up my options

    kind regards graham

NO it is not, i have both bikes. I forget the exact measurement but GT wheelbase is nearly 2" longer.

Got my comfort seat from the dealer and drove about 40 miles. So far, so good. The forward lean is gone and it feels a little higher, but i think thats due to the lack of slant.

Id say stay tuned for further review but my motorcycle didn't like the idea of going back in the garage tonight. Pulled in, put my left foot down on a loose copper fitting that rolled from who knows where and my bike tried to make rough love to me on the concrete. Luckily, I broke my bikes fall with my tailbone and shins. Might be a bit before I use the seat "comfortably".

OUCHHHH!!! Sorry to hear about that dismount failure. Glad you got your seat though. To my surprise my new Bagster seat actually arrived yesterday. Hoping the weather improves soon so i can try it out.

I have the yamaha comfort seat arriving tomorrow.
Personally all the custom seat options I've seen look like something that belongs on a 90's wave runner. Blech.🤢

If it works for me great, i never had a real problem with the oem seat but would like a little more support.
If it fails miserably, I have an extra pan to bring to the local seat guy and have him work his magic with styling from this decade.

I was very close to ordering the Yamaha comfort seat until i discovered the Bagster seats from the other members here. I took a gamble on it just like you are with the comfort seat. Would be interested to know how you like it after you get some seat time on it.

Interesting!  I've never ridden either, how do they compare with the 900GT?

The 2008 Tiger 1050 would probably be somewhat close to the Tracer in the sense of being a 3 cyl engine, upright comfy riding position and about the same performance. I think it was rated at 114 HP.  It was a comfy ride but didn't care for the cushy soft suspension and didn't want to throw $12-1500 at upgrading it. The stock projector headlights were absolutely horrible also.

The 2011 Sprint GT is in no way similar the the Tracer 900 GT. It was a beautiful blue great looking motorcycle with huge panniers and trunk but it was extremely uncomfortable for me and i never really bonded with it. The riding position was somewhat aggressive with pegs that were too high and a forward lean riding position. It put too much pressure on my wrists and i couldn't ride it more than 50 miles with out my wrists going numb.

Thanks for this thread...been on the fence whether to get my seat customized or order a new one, had looked at the Bagster site but too many options to make up my mind.  Just ordered one from Chromeburner.... Henry Ford had the right idea when he said you can have any color you want as long as it's black!

Your welcome Jeff, i thought the same thing about all the choices. I originally started specking out a multi-colored seat. Then i saw that they were closed for a while then re-opened on limited staff so i changed my mind. Over the winter i special ordered a custom Corbin cafe seat with 4 colors for my XSR that really fit the retro vibe of that bike. I decided to keep it simple for the Tracer so I started looking at the other retailers that members had mentioned on my thread. Turns out that Chromeburner had the exact simple black & blue bultex seat that i wanted right in stock. It shipped out yesterday and tracking# says it ETA is May 4th. Obviously that's not etched in stone but at least it's on the way.

I hope you have better luck with timely shipping than I have.  I ordered the Speedo Angels nano-glass screen protector almost a month ago from the U.K.  They have been very helpful but there has been issues with deliveries.  Here was their response.

    Hi Brian,

We are sorry to hear that your order has not yet arrived. As I am sure you are aware, the global situation with Coronavirus has had a very large impact on businesses. This also includes delivery companies who have many staff off sick or who cannot work. Normally your item would have arrived by now. We have been speaking with the delivery companies and they have told us that we have to inform customers that there will be delays, but they are trying to deliver items as quickly as possible. We please ask that you allow some more time for the delivery and of course, if your item does not arrive we can send you a replacement item or we can refund you. Can you please allow an extra 10 days and let us know if your item has still not arrived, then we will help you.

We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

    Regards
    Matt - Speedo Angels

I just ordered a Speedo Angels nano glass kit also but i bought it from their ebay store. I ordered it on April 14th and received it just yesterday on April 23rd so i thought that was pretty fast from the UK. Those things are awesome. I put one on my XSR900 and FJ-09 last summer also.  I hope you get yours soon.

Glad it helped.   if anything, there are maybe too many options from the BAGSTER configerateur - I think I counted about 74 possible choices once!

In earlier times - referring to your water-absorption query - there were minor issues about the seat not being water-proof in event of rain or hosing-down: Bagster now, and for quite some time past, has put a thin plastic membrane between the seat cover and inner foam, thus keeping it quite waterproof.   I've had three Bagsters seats, including for the GT, and never experienced any water-logging!

wordsmith- I ordered my Bagster seat last night from a Bagster retailer called ChromeBurner in the Netherlands that member BBB had mentioned. They had the exact seat i wanted in stock and it's shipping out today. Ready Luxe with Bultex foam and  the blue piping/stitching. The retailers that others had mentioned had great pricing as well but were generally 2-4 weeks lead time. I'm still holding onto hopes of being able to make my Smoky Mountain Dragon trip in 3 weeks so i went with ChromeBurner since it should arrive the soonest.

They answered my email before i ordered and confirmed what you said. The seat is waterproof and can be used in both hi and low positions. I read your past posts/ reviews on the seat and saw your photos. Thank you for taking the time to interact with me about the seat and helping me pull the trigger on a brand of seat that is very foreign to me. Literally since i'm in the US.

  16. Congratuations mattemike. Last month i traded in my FJ-09 on a new leftover 2019 Tracer GT. Here in central NY (NOT NYC) winter will not let go so i have only ridden a little over 500 miles on it so far but i am loving it. Especially the features that my FJ did not have. Also like the extended wheelbase which i think makes for a much more stable and well planted ride.

Last summer my buddy had a MT-10 that i took a short ride on. I really liked the bike but it thought it would be a bit overkill for what i was looking for at the time. I opted for a new XSR900 instead which makes a great pairing with my new Tracer GT.

  17. wordsmith- Thank you for the photo. You actually answered a couple questions that i emailed to Bagster. I asked if the seat can still be used in both positions. I also asked them if the black woven suede material was water absorbing. When i think of black suede it makes me think back to when i was shopping seats for my XSR900. The Yamaha comfort seat for the XSR is literally black suede. Kind of like corduroy pants from the 70's. Your photo is a big help and much more real-life than the internet photo. The piping even looks like a match to the Yamaha "blurple" color.

Having had at least three BAGSTER seats I can only endorse them 1000%.   As I reported at the time "my bum thinks it has died and gone to heaven".  See below:

LOVE AT FIRST SIT with my GT’s new BAGSTER seat

Short version - my bony bum thought it had died and gone to heaven.

Longer version - after a self-imposed absence from the GT for some time while allowing my very painful bursitis-affected shoulder to have some medical treatment and start to heal, I was eager to get onto the brand-new and as-yet untried BAGSTER seat.  Today it was very unpleasant to be outside, as ravaging bush-fires to the south, west, and north of Brisbane have brought thick hazy air and a strong smell of burning.   It’s been like this for some weeks now, so indoors is the best place to be, air-con on.   Storms forecast for later.

I need to heed my own words when reporting, for as I have said before - “It is a truth universally acknowledged that a new owner of almost anything – motorcycle, car, boat, house, girl-friend, goldfish, BAGSTER seat – will proclaim it to be absolutely the best of its kind ever, never equalled, and unlikely to be surpassed in the future”.   In other words, some self-serving exaggeration may occur!   Thank you, Jane Austen.

The OE GT seat is a vast improvement over the torture-device OE seat on Gen1 Tracers, but it could hardly have been worse – on the Gen1 seat about an hour or up to 80 or so kilometres was more than enough for me.    But the OE GT seat gave acceptable comfort on my recent 4500km circuit over 13 days as I only occasionally felt a need to squirm around to find that ‘sweet spot’, despite long hot days of up to 585km in the saddle.    Even so, I had such fond memories of previous BAGSTER seats that I couldn’t resist the urge to splash out another $500 or so to complete the package.

On today’s test-ride of about 180km/ two-and-a-bit hours, my bony bum thought it had died and gone to heaven, even though the difference in comfort was not huge, but it was certainly detectable.

When I’m seated the new BAGSTER seat is quite firm, but has some ‘give’ still in it compared to the very firm OE Gt seat, which feels as though I have reached the limit of its compressibility and support, despite my pretty light ATTGATT weight of only around 84kg (185 pounds).    I also seem to be supported rather more along the back of my upper thighs instead of just on the points of my sit-bones.   Whatever – it was plush.   And with the front seat in the lower position, where it is easily and firmly fitted, I can comfortably flat-foot at rest – heels and soles of both boots flat on the ground.

The BAGSTER pillion seat does require a hefty karate-chop to get it to fasten securely into its lock – other than that the two-piece kit it is a superb product and, IMHO, worth every penny or cent or Euro if you can afford it.

In summary then - on my GT, the combination of the bike’s greatly-improved K-tech very compliant suspension upgrade and the BAGSTER seat gives me near-perfection in terms of plush comfort and day-longability to ride.

It is indeed “absolutely the best of its kind ever, never equalled, and unlikely to be surpassed in the future”.

They are beautifully made in France, with the buyer able to make selections of various materials, colours, stitching, logo, etc., from their on-line configerateur.   I purchased my last two - 1 x Tracer, 1 x Tracer GT - from an Italian company <motostorm.it> who both with these and other purchases I found to be very easy to deal with, no language issues, prompt replies, and highly competitive pricing.   I very highly recommend both BAGSTER and MOTOSTORM.it.

wordsmith- I am very interested in the Bagster seat. Do you feel as though it addresses the forward slope of the stock GT seat? That is my biggest issue with it. I constantly find myself having to skooch back. Thanks.

Bagster are French, but I got my seat from the Netherlands.

A Bagster seat is a big improvement in both style and comfort for any bike...

Thanks BBB. I actually went on the website and speced out a nice looking seat. How do you get pricing? Must have to pick one of the individual retailers I'm guessing?
