Received Givi’s new TN2139 bars yesterday and they were just a little bit awkward to fit.

Fitting the right bar - the bolt at the top front was 10mm too long, if I had forced it in it would have damaged the alloy engine block. Had to cut 10mm off bolt (have informed Givi). The rear top bolt needs an extra 3 washers to make bars align comfortably. Washers disappear into bar tubing so can’t be seen.

Fitting the left bar - the rear lower bolt which goes through the rear engine mount has to be withdrawn, it can be gently tapped out using a long cross head screwdriver. The engine did not move. I replaced the bolt the other way round with the nut on the left. This makes it very much easier to remove the crash bar in the future.

To me they look good, but more importantly they will give lots of protection should I ever have to lay the bike down.

Am I the only one who can’t see the original post ?? showing as white lettering on a  light background.

  2. Here in the UK Helmet City (http://www.helmetcity.co.uk/schuberth-c4/) currently have the Schuberth C4 on sale for as little as £299 for some colours and the SC1 comms for £132 (standard) or £199 advanced if you buy with the helmet.
I just bought a C4 Legacy Yellow with the SC1 Standard for £492 vs the £850 normal retail price. Pricey but not too bad compared to the normal price and it's a great helmet. I'm replacing my C3 Pro which is now demoted to my commuting and shopping helmet smiley.png

The SC10U from my C3 Pro is going on ebay soon if anyone in the UK is interested.

  3. Well I’ve just completed a 1600 mile trip touring Germany. Rode from home in Cambridge through Holland to the Harz Region for a few days then home via Eiffel Region and Belgium through Eurotunnel and home. Very varied riding on some great roads and speeds up to 100 mph on German Autobahns.

I had bought the MRA touring screen and added the Vario spoiler before I left. I was very pleased with this combination. Very little buffeting at any speed and acceptable noise levels. Played around with screen height and adjustment of the Vario spoiler and settled on having the screen close to max height, with Vario angled a little but not at it it’s tallest setting. I’m 5ft6ins and have the low saddle option which was comfortable enough for long days in the saddle.

Bike performed beautifully. Just needs a good clean now!

  4. I too received my MRA touring screen this week. (Not Vario)

Only  managed a shortish ride with it, but a definite improvement over the stock screen.

Less buffeting at higher speeds and much quieter. I’m 5ft6in and the height settings don’t seem to make a huge difference, but still getting enough air to stay cooler in the hot weather we’re enjoying in the UK.

Cosmetically it looks much nicer on my black bike in grey smoke.

PS I second the vote for a dedicated 900 GT sub section!

  5. Hi

I love new Tracer 900GT but not very happy with the screen.

The up/down adjustment seems to have little effect, and at any speed over about 60mph it’s very noisy.

I’ve been looking around and can’t seem to find a replacement screen for the 2018 Tracers, just the older 2015/17 models.

    Does anyone know of any?

    Thanks

  6. Hi

Picked up  my new Tracer 900 GT last Sunday. Really loving it, but struggling a bit with the seat height.

At 5ft6in I’d ordered the low seat, but it really doesn’t feel much lower than the standard seat. Certainly not the advertised 30mm.

Has anyone else tried the low seat and like me, haven’t noticed much difference from the standard?

I’m reluctant to get the lowering kit, as I did this with my previous FZ1S, and it really seemed to affect the handling.
