  1. Never too late to get info.šŸ‘ It did smooth things out, mostly in STD mode, but A mode still feels jerky at low speeds. The mod for me was a positive one but I know the bike will never be smooth without a full tune. I should also say my aftermarket exhaust helped as well after finding a good baffle set up (hole size and number). To me it goes against what I've seen with other exhaust updates. Usually fueling gets worse but in this case it got better. Not sure why but who am I to question. Love the burbles on over run downshifting.
  2. Not sure how much. Like I said a little. Really I just like the looks and I'm more than satisfied with the beak not making things worse. That was all I could hope for and for $29 it was a cheap option that could just as easily sat on a shelf if it didn't work out.
  3. It's not a problem for me. If anything it helps a little at higher speed. Only had it up to 155 km/hr last night (in mexico of coursešŸ˜€) on the first test ride. Lots of heavy trucks and cool crosswinds. No issues. I should say I didn't use the supplied hardware and bushings. Just a thin washer and the factory fairing bolt. It's tight but once in there is no way the beak is coming iff. One down side is it blocks some of the light from my fog lights. Kind if a cool lighting effect though. The front fender and some of the front of the bike looks all lit up.
  4. I use that same cheap light as well. Must say it's the best ten bucks spent on the bike. As mentioned above there are some mounting points on the lower fork clamps but some spacers of differing lengths are required. No clearance issues.
  5. Ok then, forget a picture with the homeless. Might still be nice to buy one a coffee though.
  6. Wow... that is twisted.Just thought it would be a nice thing to do for someone given the colder temps and dark days. You'd be surprised what you could learn from others. Weather they be homeless, old or someone who's served. We have a local guy, Richard, I stop and talk to once in a while and get him a coffee. Found out he was driving his family when they got into an accident. Everyone but him died and he's been on the street punishing himself ever since. Local churches and help groups have tried to get him off the street with no luck. He hasn't turned to booze or drugs, just a lost soul. Wasn't looking for anything twisted just seeing if we can do something nice for someone. You would also be surprised at how many people will talk to people on a motorcycle and pose for pictures if you just talk to them and tell them what you're up to.
  7. Right on. We're going to try and pay it forward a little here. If anyone thinks it's out of line let me know. [strong]A picture of your FJ with a homeless person, Vet or Senior citizen. Bonus points for [and to be honest THE point] buying them a coffee, donut or food. [/strong]
  8. I'm hoping this one counts. If it is, I'll put up the next challenge in a new post. There are two horses in the background on one of our many local dairy farms. I was just out for a test ride for a new baffle and remembered this thread at the last moment. Sorry I didn't have my good camera with me, just phone. A picture of your FJ with some form of livestock or animals in the wild.
  9. I tried to get a pick of my FJ with my friends 1952 Vincent and his 1968 Camaro SS. Bastard was out of town on business. :-(
  10. Thanks for that. Will have to take a look. Might save my empties for a year. ;-)
  11. Just ordered a set. Iā€™ve been searching for a while too and this post sold me on these. Canā€™t go wrong with a $27 experiment. For me when I added the GPR stabilizer it also added about 1/4ā€ to handlebar height. So for me to bring the height down is key. Just remember with the lower height it will take some fiddling to avoid contact between cables, wires and the hand guards if you still have them on. You can also add one or two washers under the risers if needed as well. I don't think you'll be disappointed though and like you said, at that price there really is no risk. Solid construction on these but like I said, I did replace some bolts with higher grade SS.
  12. Oh really? That sounds about perfect then... essentially the same fore & aft adjustment options as stock, but a bit over an inch overall lower height. I like! Question: Did you end up putting a sleeve in the riser to compensate for the smaller diameter bolt, or was it close enough with the hex socket head to not be a concern? I stand corrected on my earlier statement: I have a set of Tag Metal dirt bike risers on my Raptor/Interceptor project, to put a fat bar on the 954 forks and billet upper triple clamp. They wouldnā€™t be tall enough to work for this application on the FJ. Great information, @cuff ! Very much appreciate you sharing the knowledge. No worries. Love tinkering and sharing info. The two SS hex head M10 bolts I had fit snug and directly into the pocket of the riser. No need for any sleeve as the bolt head keeps it centered in the hole. I'm sure most bolts will fit and if not a little grinding will work.
  13. Thanks for that. I too was thinking of taking off a little from the stock risers and even looked for some on eBay but there are only two there that I could find. They wanted a little more than I hoped to spend on an 'experiment' if it didn't work out. You may be interested to know these risers do in fact have some adjustment front to back like the stock risers. The mounting hole is offset about 10mm form the centre line.
  14. So, I wanted a lower bar but didn't want to go through the trouble of mounting a new bar (heated grips, new holes for controls etc.) so I decided on getting shorter bar risers. Lots of looking around and ended up getting these. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Universial-Tall-Motorcycle-Bar-Handlebar-Mounts-Riser-Clamp-Oversize-1-1-8/401088860713?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649 Had to swap out the supplied M12 bolts for SS hex head M10's so as to avoid drilling larger holes in my top fork clamp. I always like to make sure things can always go back to stock just in case. Anyway, lots of adjustments and some bolt swaps for the risers and steering damper later and here it is. About 28mm lower and just enough clearance from wires and cables. An added bonus is the key is much easier to get to now.
  15. Nice ride. Next time you're in the Grants Pass area, I strongly recommend OR-227 from Canyonville to Trail. You can then loop south on OR-62 towards Medford and back to Grants Pass. OR-227 is probably my second favorite road in Oregon right now. Chilliwack is lovely BTW! I've been there a few times on business. Thanks for the tip and the props to Chilliwack. OR-227 looks like an interesting ride for sure. Next summer I'll be spending a week down in southern OR and northern CA just ripping up some nice roads in the heat. I'll see it for sure. If you're in Chilliwack again on a ride I'd suggest the Duffy Lake loop through Whistler/Pemberton on Hwy 99 to Lillooet then down the Fraser canyon. Easy going it's 8 hours. 'Spirited' it's possible in 7 if you start early through Vancouver. :-) I did it once on my ZX-14. Left the 'Wack' at 5am. By 6:20 we were drinking coffee in Squamish. Complete NUTTERS I was with. lol
  16. Nope, Iā€™ve already made it too easy. Now go for a short ride and find a big clock. I'll see what I can do this weekend. And yes, white is the fastest. :-)
  17. How about 1033km/642 miles away from home next to a liquor store? lol Just finished a Chilliwack BC to Grant's pass OR / Grant's pass up the coast to Long beach WA / Long Beach home to Chilliwack in two nights. Loving the re-worked seat. Could have spent more time on this great bike but I ran out of daylight every day and couldn't get going in the morning until sunrise.
  18. No worries. Figured it out and hooked it up with no issues. As a bonus I pulled the codes from my truck and found a dirty MAS. Truck runs great again. With the FJ I was surprised to find a code for a disconnected battery along with the codes for me trying to start my bike with the APS disconnected. Strange the disconnected battery threw a code but didn't register with the check engine light.
  19. Just got the cable and connectors, code reader coming this week. Figured I would hook up the cables as listed here and at Corsa Technic according to the color codes listed. Both pictures here and at Corsa for the cable I received are not even close to those labeled. A quick test with my multi meter found the proper colors associated with the hook up chart. If you do get this cable you may want to check the port/color chart and test. Just some info.
  20. Like I said, love to tinker. Found my left heel was rubbing on the swingarm and felt it would eventually cause a wear mark. Grabbed some left over vinyl carbon wrap and stuck it where my heel was hitting. I'll probably go with flat black to match the paint if I ever get some. Hopefully this picture posts as I'm on my phone in the shop.
  21. I'm always looking to find the hard parts that will hit the ground in the event of a tip over or crash. The latest fight against damage today looked at the passenger pegs. I checked around the shop and found some bushings/caps from some bar ends I wasn't using. A quick drill and tap later and the farthest point sticking out is no longer the peg mounts. Capped off with some plastic plugs left over from 7/8" bars and voila, free slider mod.
