That's really good to know. I'm heading out on a 2,500 trip next month and replaced the stockers with only 2k on them, not knowing how they would fare. Nice to know I can slap them back on for a few k after the replacements are worn.Got over 9000 mi. on the rear just replaced with a PR4. Front tire still stock with a long way to go.

Don't know how I missed that one, but I'm glad that it worked out.
http://fj-09.org/thread/1823/clutch-problem-disengage-gearbox?page=1&scrollTo=19078What happened?
Clutch throwout bearing seized up. Barely 1150 miles on it. I'm relatively certain the mechanics that did the shifter linkage recall work fouled up the assembly somehow, but I'll never be able to prove that.

That's encouraging to hear Bob. It IS good to know they take their warranty issues seriously. I've already had my go around with that silly seized bearing issue...Replaced front fender.
The paint was coming off in spots. Showed it to my dealer, who sent the claim with pictures off to the mothership. Within a few days I got the call that Yamaha had agreed to replace it under warranty. Received the replacement a few days after that.
Hard to complain about that kind of response. Yamaha could show BMW a thing or two about taking responsibility and corrective action when appropriate.

That repair looks great!Sanded and Spray painted engine cover that was scratched in a recent faux pas, and installed the light black Ermax high screen windshield.

I've got that covered.Cruise control would be the ultimate to save your hands.

Installed a set of Grip Puppies. I was having a problem with my hands getting a little tingly when on longer rides. I think these will help a lot. Good reviews and they are supposed to work well with heated grips.

I got some new shoes!

After a morning ride, I washed it. Also cleaned & lubed the chain.
Not to be left out, the KTM got the same treatment.

I used to use K-1 with my Park chain cleaner back in my avid bicycling days. Worked well and left a thin paraffin coating on the chain when it dried. Might try it on the FJ with the Kettenmax. Thanks for posting this. It reminds me of a Park Tool chain cleaner I have for bicycle chains. It's designed to work with citrus degreaser which I certainly wouldn't use on an o-ring chain.

Went on a breakfast ride with a bunch of old codgers on BMWs and Triumphs. The FJ got a lot of attention.
Had another chance on the way home to use the cruise control. It's still working great. As it happens so infrequently, I never fail to be amazed when something I have done works out exactly as I had hoped.

^^ +1
After dropping my fully loaded 700#+ BMW K1600GT I used this technique to get the beast back upright. It was a struggle, but I got it. BTW, I'm not a big guy, 5'8" 150#.

Good luck! Very curious to see what you will come up with.Hi,
Today MCCruise bought a Tracer. I will get it next Friday and then we start development. Our new computer allows us to reconfigure it to talk to OEM switch gear - like that on the Honda F6B. We don't know yet whether it will work on the Tracer - or MT-09, but it should.
Wish us luck! I want to travel around Oz before I get too old - whatever that means!

In the midst of installing my cruise control system, I took advantage of a pause in that activity to install the heated grips that have been sitting on a shelf for a month. In comparison, much easier than the CC, which is still not finished.

Installed my CalSci windshield last weekend and my new Shad side cases today.

If you follow the instructions included with the hand guard lights, you will have removed the windshield, its mount and the plastic cover that covers both power outlets.Thanks. Sorry for being a complete idiot but what cable did you connect the posi-taps to? All additional tips on installation (especially connecting the wires) not shown in the manual would be most appreciated..!
Look at the power outlet where the wires come into it from the bottom. There are two; one light colored and one dark. These are the wires I tapped. You'll have to remove some of the electrical tape that is on the wires at that location in order to make room for the posi-taps.
I joined the wires from the two lights together and then connected them to the power outlet wires with posi-taps; light to light and dark to dark. It's really not difficult.
Sorry that I didn't take pictures, seems it might have been helpful. I'm out of town now or I'd run out to the garage and take some.

I used the red ones, which were perfect for the job.
Do you know what size of posi-taps are needed? I have to order them from the uk and found this vendor with different sizes.Yes. Pretty straight forward. Just follow the directions. For power, I used Posi-taps and tied into one of the power outlet wires. Turn the key and the lights come on.

Both are Rivco products. eBay link for pegs: Pegs
Which Highway pegs are these can you post a link? Thanks,Installed crash bars & highway pegs.
Edit, I think I found them. MFW Highway Peg mounts black with the Super Grip Pegs about $150 at adventure depot:

I don't have a link for the mounts, sorry.

No pictures. I can't afford another camera after I break the one I have by taking pictures of myself.
Any chance to get a pic sometime with you or someone sitting on the bike with feet on the highway pegs? Curious to see them "in use".Installed crash bars & highway pegs.
I will say that my legs aren't fully extended with the pegs in this position. BTW, I'm 5'8", 30" inseam.
I considered swapping sides with the crash bars and mounting them upside-down. That would have put them in a better position for the pegs, but it would have looked goofy and the turned part at the front would have been dangerously close to the header.
As they are, they will still provide some relief on those long rides.

BB - is installation quite as easy and semi-fool-proof as the on-line instructions appear to show? I have a pair on order...I installed mine last weekend. Really like the look and quality of the pieces.
