Well, started my day by clipping a deer about 3/4 of a mile from my house on my way to work. I looked down at the bars to turn on my fog lights and when I looked up, all I saw was a brown flash from the left. Don't think I even grabbed the brakes (I usually cover the front lever with 2 fingers). I think I just got her hind quarters.
I didn't go down, just rolled down the road a couple hundred yards and stopped at a drive. Got off and gave bike a quick visual, noted a nasty crack in the front fender, but everything else seemed ok.
Rode back to the house, snapped a couple pics. Took off my gear and, after informing the wife, jumped in the car to go to work.
Will give "Thorn" a good exam when I get home tonight, but everything felt OK on the short ride home.
Damn deer....
Glad you're ok after that. I have an extra front fender if you want it. It has some small paint blemishes (defective factory finish), but not real noticeable. Yamaha replaced mine under warranty.

My Pit-Bull front Hybrid stand won't work as is with the Tracer so I'll have to get a different pin or the "hybrid swivels" from Pit-Bull; haven't decided which way to go so I can get the front lifted to get the new front tire put on.
You don't need a front stand. Use the center stand and put something heavy on the rear rack (if you have one) to lift the front.

For long-duration rain Frogg Toggs and Aerostich Triple Digit overgloves are my preference.
This is my solution for hot weather. The Frogg Toggs pack small, are waterproof and breath well. Several years ago I did a loop around Lake Superior. Rain every day. The Frogg Toggs with my mesh gear underneath kept me comfortable and dry. They look kind of goofy, but work well. Cheap too!
For cooler weather, my Aerostitch Darien gear is called into service.

Sorry for the "performance award". 🙁
I go to the area usually twice a year. Stopped doing the Dragon years ago because of the shear number of bad riders and cops. There are so many great alternatives to the Dragon, and knowing that the cops are busy there, I can ride most of them without worrying about being ticketed or having to deal with incompetent riders.

Is there a trick to removing these? No Threads on the posts etc.
I used a dental pick to gently pry off those push-retainers. Same ones used on my FJ-09

There are so many other great roads all around western NC and eastern TN. I prefer them as they are less frequented by other riders, and since the police are preoccupied with Dragon antics, they're less likely to be in those other areas.
Now, I only go to the Dragon if I am riding with someone who hasn't been there yet. Got to do it to get the sticker.

I assume the bike is under warranty. Make the dealer replace the mirror.

Nice - if fiddly - job, bb. I take it these are a form of visibility lights - could we see a pic, please, of them on while in darkness. TIA...

Finished up my lighting project today, but not without a hiccup, some rethinking and rewiring.
Kinda blingy, but kinda cool too. I like it.

They are running lights. You could use them as turn signals as well, but figuring out how to wire them as switch backs is beyond me.That is awesome. Are they just parking lights, could you make them switch back lights to be used as turn signals -
Made a little progress on my custom lighting project today.

I ended up removing the side panel and running the power leads behind it back to my switched fuse block. TRS connectors under the seat and the USB doubled back to the GPS mount.
The 595 is a nice unit, but I don't understand why Garmin veered away from incorporating the extra connectors into the GPS mount. The Zumo 550 arrangement was much better in that regard, IMO. I also miss the ability to lock the GPS to the mount, which is not a feature of the 595.

Sounds like a good plan.I didn't remove the tank to run the wiring. I removed the right side panel that likes to crack and ran the wiring along the frame. It's worked fine for two years.- 1

I have a switched fuse block under the passenger seat that I can use if I decide to go that route. It's just that the power leads in the front are so much more accessible. That said, I'll probably go ahead and remove the tank in order to route the wires to the back.I used a little relay triggered by the tag light to power mine. It came out of a wrecked ford truck in the junkyard. It fits between my he battery and it’s foam spacer. -
That's kind of what I was thinking. My old 550 was connected to switched power behind the windshield. Wanted to do that again, but the connectors would be exposed if I went that route. Maybe I can find some rubber caps to go over them. I don't want to have to take the tank off if I don't have to.I’ve got the 665 (I thing that’s what it is... or 660). It’s has all those extra wires. I just bundled them together under the seat. They’ve been under there for two years now. No problems. -
Anyone installed this GPS? If so, what did you do with the medusa of media dongles on the wiring harness? They don't look like they should get wet.

Direct copy of the Powerbronze design... in fiberglass.
In fact there was one for sale on ebay from Lithuanian for $60US but I wasn't sure about that so I forked out the cash for a powerbronze. No worries mate, now that Powerbronze has done all the design, engineering and marketing, it shouldn't be long before the cheap Chinese knock-offs start showing up on ebay.

I added evidence of my other passion.

I put a new one in last week, but it's been rainy and before that, too cold to ride. Hope it can keep its charge 'till conditions improve.I put in a new battery. Went down to the basement yesterday to start her up and go for a ride on a beautiful January day....it’s been COLD here.... and the stock battery was kaput. Got the new one today from the brown Santa. Just too late to ride. ?
BTW, how old was your battery? Mine made it short of 3 years.

Admittedly, the thread does occasionally wander slightly off topic. Sorry to have sullied your notifications. We'll try to do better in the future.Sorry to be this guy but can you all banter in a different thread? I, and I’m sure many others, are getting notifications for this thread and it’s about the weather and other non related stuff.
Please keep this thread for recent mods you have done to your FJ.
Thank you.
BTW, to fully cement your protest rights, you might consider a paid membership.

Didn't make it this far south, but it was pretty cold for us here in Central FL. Three days in a row with mornings below freezing are enough 'winter' for me. Should start to warm tomorrow.
Didn't you guys have snow this week?Florida???

Well then, I'm not feeling so bad about 28* this morning in FL. LOL

The high-dollar beak and the enormously higher-dollar Akra exhaust are my favorite non-performance enhancing mods!
