  1. Bought these BMW Ride sneakers on a whim and they have quickly become my favorite sneaker style boots I have owned.

+ Stylish - very casual non-moto look, lots of people ask what kinda shoes i'm wearing

+ Comfortable - breath really well

+ Easy to use - Inside zipper is LIFE CHANGING ... takes 2 seconds to get in and out of

+ Durable  - Ive worn these 5 days a week for about 6 months ... still in fantastic shape.

Honestly thinking about buying another pair incase they stop making them!

  2. Not for the faint of heart, no guard rails and massive 500+ foot drops.

Mosquito ridge is a 44 mile lumber road just west of lake Tahoe.  Honestly one of the best roads i've ever ridden.  Incredibly fast twisty roads with great road conditions.  I think I saw a total of 3 cars on it for the 2 hours I raced around it.

Not my video .. but gives you an idea of what you're getting into.

  3. I've been using Pilot Road 4/5s for the last 40K miles and I love them:

    Pros:

    +Super sticky in the twisties

    +Heat up quickly

+VERY noticeable difference in stopping in the rain

+Tire life is good (around ~8K for the rear the way I ride)

    Cons:

    +Expensive

If you ride a lot in the rain and inclement weather I highly recommend these, otherwise I would go another route.

I have not tried the "GT" version yet, curious if anyone on here has.

  5. Hi all,

Recently a check engine light came on.  It also disable my ABS and TC.  I cleared the code once, and now my speedometer is off and all the lights are back on.  Attached is a photo of the OBDII reading.

At first I thought maybe it was the ABS sensor on the front wheel, but others have suggested that it may be the speed sensor in the transmission?

    Cheers

I have been thinking about putting stainless steel brake lines on my 2015 FJ 09. Anyone done this mod?  And if so, how difficult was the installation, and which brand / model did you install?

And finally, how much do you feel it improved the braking on the bike?

Bought speiglers probably 10,000 miles ago.  Night and day difference.  Master cylinder still sucks though 😩

The handlebar espresso machine and the autowave function.

Cruise control? I used to pooh pooh it until I got a bike that had it, and now I won't ride a bike without it.

No cruise control.  5 dollar cramp buster

I'm definitely interested to see your light setup.

love the Clearwater lights. 110% recommend these.  Customer support is amazing.  The lights have a dial that allow you to adjust them rather than just a low/ setting which is awesome.  Very high quality product, it’s worth spending the extra cash for the Clearwaters.... they keep saying that they are making flood lights and I will definitely buy a set when they come out.

Im not the brightest crayon in the packet and I managed to instal them with little issue.

@Dirty Randy  - I'm really curious about your thoughts on the Speigler braided lines.  Do you feel that the time and effort involved has a noticeable performance difference to justify the $200?

Any tips on the removal and replacement procedure would be appreciated.

Brake lines are 100% worth it.  Very noticeable difference.  The brakes are way more consistent especially during heavy usage and have more bite. If I could do it again I wish I had swapped the master cylinder for maybe an r6 or r1.  I’m used to a brembo master on my track bikes so I like having a sharp stiff bite ... not everyone wants that though.

I attempted to swap the brake lines, and half way through realized the bike has ABS and I’ve never worked on brake lines with ABS before 😬.  With my tail between my legs I Ended up having to take it to the dealership ....

If you are very mechanically inclines you may be able to do it yourself!

  9. Hey everyone,

Bought my '17 FJ 09 almost two years ago to do a 3 month trip on.  Here are a list of some of the mods I have on the bike.  This site doesn't seem to like the pictures I upload so I will have some soon.  Thinking about getting any of the following?

(Givi has a distribution center in Charlotte where i live 😁)

    Givi 2122DT windscreen

    Givi TN2122 crash guards

    Givi EH2122 hand guards

Givi full trekker set (48L side bags and 56L tail)

    Givi ES2122 side stand foot

SW Motech 22L EVO 2.0 tank bag

    Denali Sound Bomb

    Spiegler steel brake lines

    Oxford Heated Grips

    Clearwater Darla lights

    Corbin Saddle

    Skene P3 tail lights

    Probably forgetting some things...

This is the first yamaha/spot touring bike i've owned and I have to say i'm very happy with it.  Right at 37xxx miles and I have had zero mechanical issues.  Other than replacing the tires, oil and spark plugs this machine wants to keep rolling!
