Do you have right angle valve stems?  If not, this would be the perfect opportunity to get them installed.

    90 Degree Valve Stem

So I actually have T valves on the bike so I can use external TPMS sensors.  The dude who installed them put the seal on wrong and I noticed it but it never leaked until this week.   So I had to fix it.  https://wingstuff.com/products/37222-t-valve-optional-accessory-for-fobo-2-tpms

  2. I had a valve stem start leaking… so for the first time for me, I dismounted and remounted a tire in my garage :)    The had the tools for a bit (motion pro spoons/levers, bead protectors, and a bead breaker stand) but never tried.

This was the front which is kind of a pita!  But was over all easier than I thought it would be!

i have a set of mutants going on next week so this was a solid test!

Hmmmm.  Thanks for this info.  It does sound interesting with all of the integration that is missing in many solutions. 👍

The whole thing is interesting, and as I said, I was expecting this to be kind of a hot mess of interesting hardware with terrible software (given the Chinese tend to be great at the hardware side).  there is a good bit of translation issues on the interface in the settings (ie: "Shut" or something like that being used for "Off") and the overall UI is well refined but limited in what you can tweak.

But ... it works pretty dang good. The video codec is solid on the cameras.  Here is a test ride I was on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sx2OGky_jHM when I encountered a herd of big horn sheep! (there were a LOT of animals out on the sides of the road so I was taking it pretty easy)

  4. So something I did over the last week, as part of a new product development project, but also cause its kinda neat:
(for some reason I cant upload anything here right now... shows I have 60kb of total space to upload, so I am linking them off my site... and it auto watermarks them...)

I installed a Chigee AIO-5 dashcam setup (https://www.chigee.com/) that also has CarPlay/Android Auto, and TPMS monitoring.   Its a new-er device and I was skeptical at first, but ... its pretty damn impressive for what it does.  The hardware and software is more solid than I thought they would be.   Nice step up from the INNOVV K3 setup I have (INNOVV also has a new K7 and N1 offering coming out).  It is reasonably viewable in the sun, I wish it was more antireflective though.

This device also seems to have potential OBDII integration coming (already has CAN-bus integration), and other bits.

The mount on the wind screen is my own design but inspired in some ways by Steve Downers mount (Him and I have talked a good bit), but with a side mount and the RAM base.   Not planning to sell that mount at this point, but it does work reasonably well (the amount of bouncing is a bit frustrating, but is all due to the amount of bounce this whole screen mechanism has.).

Contemplating on getting the this kit aswell, but being in "a land far far away" does make the kit a bit on the pricey side for me. Adds another 20 dollar for the shipping and possibly another 25 for customs procedures.....

I would say it might be worth it if I knew it did the job for me, so from a practical point of view would temporarily putting 6/8mm washers in the location of the shim bracket and leaving the rubber grommets with the centered hole in place (lifting the tank, and looking like shit) still offer the opportunity to test this for the slope correction?

Yeah that’s all true.   I seriously wish shipping was cheaper.  (And really from some other feedback people have told me if I just charged $40-$50 for the product and did free shipping they would be happy… but that would also screw people at customs time…)   I had a sweet setup last year where I was shipping everything as 1st class letter mail, but USPS blocked that earlier this year sadly.

(And I did play some games to lower customs fees for people… and it resulted in me getting a number of packages destroyed to returned when I did that … oops!… so much for trying to save people money!)

Anyway - yes if you wanted to test you could just throw washers under the seat bracket, get some longer screws,  and deal with the tank doing its thing as a proof of concept.

Clegg78 - it sounds like you're suggesting the 6+2 on the gt+ and the 8 on the gt.  What's the difference on the bikes causing this?  Thanks.  I've got the 24 gt+

The updated seat mount on the GT+ changed things a little bit for the better.  A number of GT+ riders use the 8mm still, but the 6mm may be enough for most.

  7. FYI - JK3D.us is going on a bit of a holiday for a few weeks in Sept.   Last day I am shipping before late September is the 3rd.   After that because of the delay I am offering a 15% discount coupon to any orders placed.

Coupon Code: Fall2023 Coupon is active Sept 3rd - 26th.

    https://jk3d.us/product/yamaha-tracer-900-gt-seat-slope-modification/

    https://jk3d.us/product/yamaha-tracer9-mt09-seat-slope-mod/

Otherwise, all orders placed before the 3rd will be shipped out that day.

  8. Yeah the case on and off the bike.  If I rotate the handle fully up(so it disengages/retracts the latch that holds the case to the bike), I can't fold the handle back down (on or off the bike) as the latch mechanism seems to bind up.  If I try to pry/pull up the latch at the back even 1cm then everything works right and the handle goes down as it should.  It seems if the latch is fully down at the back everything just binds.

The other case has no such issues.   It does seem like this side of the bike has a lot more dirt and debris in the mecanism than the otherside though...(also wondering if its a part of time I blew the oil pan and oil coated the side cases, curious if I alot got into the mechanism and is holding a lot of sand and grit.

  9. After riding in rain and dirty roads for a couple days last year I ran into an issue where one of my side cases when the handle is fully up (and the latch to secure it to the bike is down) the handle wont close and the latch won't come back up until you try to "encourage" it with a flat object prying the case latch it up.

I am guessing a lot of dirt and grime got into the side cases and are casing an issue.  it seems like there is no way to really open or service that part of the side case. I tried flushing it with simple green but it still is fussy.

    Anyone else experience this?

Clegg78 - Looks like your slope mod business will continue with the 2023 Tracer 9GT+

That crap slope is the first thing that grabbed my attention. Bloody ridiculous.

I really need to see what the underside of that seat looks like and the mount... From the Yamaha press stuff it sounded like the GT+ has some different adjustment mechanism.  I assume my T9 kit will work since the frame seems to be the same, but...  I live by "Trust but Verify " :)

  11. I know most of the people on this forum seem to be from the US or Canada, but I just dropped the international shipping prices down with a new option that is $7 flat rate anywhere in the world (size and weight limited so the seat slope mod and a couple other products make that cut)

I have some good feedback on the MT-09 part I designed for the seat, I just need to follow up with some feedback with the people testing it.

Hi Joe, I ordered a seat kit for my 2019 during your holiday and took advantage of the discount. Thanks! I am total stoked and looking forward to it. I'm tired of feeling like I have to hold myself rigid all the time so I don't slide. Can't wait!

Guessing yours is one of them I just dropped off at the post office.  I've been hustling for 3 days to get all the orders filled :)

    Thanks for your order!

    Hello Joe,

I purchased your kit a while back for my 2019 Tracer 900 GT and it has been great. Recently i added a 2022 MT-09SP to my garage which has the same annoying forward seat slope. I am hoping that you will offer a kit for that bike soon. I checked your website and FB page but looks like it was still being tested. I will buy it as soon as it's available.

    Enjoy your vacation!

I have a prototype kit here I can send you!  I've sent like 3 of them out and no one has given me useful feedback yet :)    Msg me!

  14. Hey folks!  JK3D.us is going on a wee bit of a vacation (some travel but also some work on the printers (New hot end carriage and part designs for my custom rigs to improve efficiency), restocking, etc...) May 8th - 26th.    If you wanted to get the Seat Slope mods before June order BEFORE May 8th.

But... if you want to save some cash, while I am pausing shipping, I am offering a coupon code of 15% off during the break: https://jk3d.us/news/special-may-coupon-code/ (all shipments during that time will happen in the day(s) following the 26th)

I am also testing some options to lower shipping costs for international shipping.  I am testing that with a few shipments right now to see if they are successful.

Also, seems... again... some Italian folks are trying to knock off my gear ( And, Steven Downer's GPS mount)...  beware of knockoff junk :) (also, wild that the 2 people who are knocking this stuff off are all Italian and independent of one another.)

  15. Rode to red rocks and then around after working out there for an hour.     First real ride since doing all the work on the bike (New chain, sprockets, air filter, plugs, valves adjusted, TB synced, coolant and oil changed...  and some other bits..)  and holy hell this bike is stunning to ride.   Better than any point since I rode it from the dealer.    Just seems to be damn excited to be out tearing up some asphalt.   Wish I wasn't so GD busy this spring and summer with other non motorcycle trips.... I need to figure out a way to ride it a bit more :)

  16. Hey there, I fired up my Tracer today to warm it up... I've been too busy to ride it lately so wanted to get it to running temp.   well I fired it up and let it idle to operating temp while I was doing other things.  I noticed that the engine was ~221F and the cooling fan didn't turn on.   So I turned the bike off to ensure if the fan is not working there isn't too much heat on the engine.

I checked the connector, and it seems good to go...  is there a way to easily trigger the fan?  I know I was able to do it via some OBDII stuff on my old triumph.  But haven't seen anything like that on the Yamaha.

The 2023 has not been released in North America.......... reportedly leftover 21's and 22's to get rid of.....

Yup, which is why I am asking our Asian and European friends to lend a hand ;)   I can't go to the dealer and check them out.   Wild that in 2019/2020 you couldn't find a Tracer 900GT on the showroom floor... and it seems the 21/22's are sitting for a bit.   Heck, I flew to SLC to buy my 900GT and ride it 600 miles home :)

  18. happy to hear it worked for you!   and yeah the fuel tank gets dang heavy toward the back since most of the fuel just hangs out there (I learned that the hard way when I was doing the valve job and struggled to get the dang tank off.

    Happy Riding!
