  1. Yeah that’s all true. I seriously wish shipping was cheaper. (And really from some other feedback people have told me if I just charged $40-$50 for the product and did free shipping they would be happy… but that would also screw people at customs time…) I had a sweet setup last year where I was shipping everything as 1st class letter mail, but USPS blocked that earlier this year sadly. (And I did play some games to lower customs fees for people… and it resulted in me getting a number of packages destroyed to returned when I did that … oops!… so much for trying to save people money!) Anyway - yes if you wanted to test you could just throw washers under the seat bracket, get some longer screws, and deal with the tank doing its thing as a proof of concept.
  2. The updated seat mount on the GT+ changed things a little bit for the better. A number of GT+ riders use the 8mm still, but the 6mm may be enough for most.
  3. Hi Salty, Yeah I have a 9GT/GT+ version! https://jk3d.us/product/yamaha-tracer9-mt09-seat-slope-mod/
  4. FYI - JK3D.us is going on a bit of a holiday for a few weeks in Sept. Last day I am shipping before late September is the 3rd. After that because of the delay I am offering a 15% discount coupon to any orders placed. Coupon Code: Fall2023 Coupon is active Sept 3rd - 26th. https://jk3d.us/product/yamaha-tracer-900-gt-seat-slope-modification/ https://jk3d.us/product/yamaha-tracer9-mt09-seat-slope-mod/ Otherwise, all orders placed before the 3rd will be shipped out that day.
  5. Yeah the case on and off the bike. If I rotate the handle fully up(so it disengages/retracts the latch that holds the case to the bike), I can't fold the handle back down (on or off the bike) as the latch mechanism seems to bind up. If I try to pry/pull up the latch at the back even 1cm then everything works right and the handle goes down as it should. It seems if the latch is fully down at the back everything just binds. The other case has no such issues. It does seem like this side of the bike has a lot more dirt and debris in the mecanism than the otherside though...(also wondering if its a part of time I blew the oil pan and oil coated the side cases, curious if I alot got into the mechanism and is holding a lot of sand and grit.
  6. After riding in rain and dirty roads for a couple days last year I ran into an issue where one of my side cases when the handle is fully up (and the latch to secure it to the bike is down) the handle wont close and the latch won't come back up until you try to "encourage" it with a flat object prying the case latch it up. I am guessing a lot of dirt and grime got into the side cases and are casing an issue. it seems like there is no way to really open or service that part of the side case. I tried flushing it with simple green but it still is fussy. Anyone else experience this?
  7. I really need to see what the underside of that seat looks like and the mount... From the Yamaha press stuff it sounded like the GT+ has some different adjustment mechanism. I assume my T9 kit will work since the frame seems to be the same, but... I live by "Trust but Verify "
  8. I know most of the people on this forum seem to be from the US or Canada, but I just dropped the international shipping prices down with a new option that is $7 flat rate anywhere in the world (size and weight limited so the seat slope mod and a couple other products make that cut) I have some good feedback on the MT-09 part I designed for the seat, I just need to follow up with some feedback with the people testing it.
  9. Guessing yours is one of them I just dropped off at the post office. I've been hustling for 3 days to get all the orders filled Thanks for your order!
  10. I have a prototype kit here I can send you! I've sent like 3 of them out and no one has given me useful feedback yet Msg me!
  11. Hey folks! JK3D.us is going on a wee bit of a vacation (some travel but also some work on the printers (New hot end carriage and part designs for my custom rigs to improve efficiency), restocking, etc...) May 8th - 26th. If you wanted to get the Seat Slope mods before June order BEFORE May 8th. But... if you want to save some cash, while I am pausing shipping, I am offering a coupon code of 15% off during the break: https://jk3d.us/news/special-may-coupon-code/ (all shipments during that time will happen in the day(s) following the 26th) I am also testing some options to lower shipping costs for international shipping. I am testing that with a few shipments right now to see if they are successful. Also, seems... again... some Italian folks are trying to knock off my gear ( And, Steven Downer's GPS mount)... beware of knockoff junk (also, wild that the 2 people who are knocking this stuff off are all Italian and independent of one another.)
  12. Rode to red rocks and then around after working out there for an hour. First real ride since doing all the work on the bike (New chain, sprockets, air filter, plugs, valves adjusted, TB synced, coolant and oil changed... and some other bits..) and holy hell this bike is stunning to ride. Better than any point since I rode it from the dealer. Just seems to be damn excited to be out tearing up some asphalt. Wish I wasn't so GD busy this spring and summer with other non motorcycle trips.... I need to figure out a way to ride it a bit more
  13. Turns out the fan works, I figure to test it I'll just go for a ride on this nice warm day
  14. Hey there, I fired up my Tracer today to warm it up... I've been too busy to ride it lately so wanted to get it to running temp. well I fired it up and let it idle to operating temp while I was doing other things. I noticed that the engine was ~221F and the cooling fan didn't turn on. So I turned the bike off to ensure if the fan is not working there isn't too much heat on the engine. I checked the connector, and it seems good to go... is there a way to easily trigger the fan? I know I was able to do it via some OBDII stuff on my old triumph. But haven't seen anything like that on the Yamaha.
  15. Yup, which is why I am asking our Asian and European friends to lend a hand I can't go to the dealer and check them out. Wild that in 2019/2020 you couldn't find a Tracer 900GT on the showroom floor... and it seems the 21/22's are sitting for a bit. Heck, I flew to SLC to buy my 900GT and ride it 600 miles home
  16. if anyone gets a 2023 Tracer GT or GT+ , I heard there is a supposed to be a new seat mount on those bikes, and better ergos in general. I am curious what anyone finds, pics under the seat would be nice as well.
  17. happy to hear it worked for you! and yeah the fuel tank gets dang heavy toward the back since most of the fuel just hangs out there (I learned that the hard way when I was doing the valve job and struggled to get the dang tank off. Happy Riding! Joe JK3D.us
  18. Is there any drilling or key/lugs that the stock bars have you need to deal with?
  19. I've had my bike loaded heavily on trips and when putting it on the side stand, due to its location on this bike, it can lift the front tire off the ground or damn near unload it even on relatively flat ground. Not sure why the side stand is so odd on these bikes, but it is not prone to falling to the right side, that's for sure.
  20. Heavy bike with soft tires I guess? I had a slow leak over the winter and the rear tire was essentially flat, but the sidewalls and such were strong enough the tire never deformed on the side stand! good thing about a light motorcycle I guess I've also seen Goldwings embed their center stand in asphalt down south...
  21. Did a shake down ride on the bike after all the work. Man, between all of that she feels spry and light. The chain/new oil means shifting is so damn nice now. It was windy AF so I didn't ride too long , but enough to make it count.
  22. None yet. I have a trip to get to Idaho on the agdenda from last year but not sure when I’ll have time. Spending a few weeks in Alaska and a few more in Europe this year already so not much free time… regardless the bike is good for a bit now!
  23. Finished up the major maintenance I planned for the bike! Took a couple weekends and waiting on some bits to come in.. but all wrapped up... I'd say the bike is better than new now. Valves adjusted (all exhaust were way out of spec) Plugs changed (Not needed, they looked good, but why not, I had them in hand) Coolant flushed/changed (Honda HP Coolant) Oil changed (Motul 7100 10w50, Yama filter) Chain replaced (DID Gold VX3 525) Sprockets replaced (Sprocket Center RSX rear, Dampened front, stock gearing) Air Filter Replaced (Std Yamaha filter, not a fan of the K&N style on these bikes) Inspected a good bit of the bike as well including wheel bearings. Only screw up was when I had the tank on backwards on the seat, I scraped the painted part next to the seat... ugh.
  24. you doing anything for the suspension on the dirt/gravel roads? Not familiar with what you can all do with the ES style suspension on the 21+ I know on the 20 and such you can just swap the shocks for better ones with more consistent valving and such. OEM suspension is known to get pretty weak/beat up on high frequency gravel and dirt roads.
  25. The number of threads about incorrect torque specs, stripped studs, and other BS around the rear sprocket, I am just going to get the new nuts and do it right and try to avoid messing up the $300 rear hub. And IMO anything dealing with the driveline on the bike can afford the new hardware they deserve. Also not in a huge rush... it's going to snow and be cold tomorrow and days after.
