  1. In Sept I rounded out my season for multiday trips on the bike before winter hits (which it did 1 day after I was back home for most of the areas I was riding. This season has been a blast. 4500mi between May and Sept on multi day trips (and another 1000mi just riding around on day trips). Over all this is the area I covered from May -Sept. This last part of the trip was going to Yellowstone and Grand Teton. I havent been to either before so it was a crazy fun time. I posted a write up of the first trips here: https://joekelly.co/photo/back-to-back-motorcycle-trips-in-2021-pt1/ And more pics here: https://joekelly.co/photo/yellowstone-grand-teton-np-pics/ But here is a few pics. The weather was awesome for the trip. Cold mornings, warm afternoons. The day I left Jackson WY for Steamboat CO the temp was 27F when I rode out, and it was 89F in Steamboat when I got there. Most mornings were below or at freezing in Yellowstone, which was fine, I like cool weather on the bike! Not a single glitch or issue with the bike on the ride. 3 days were close to 450mi segments over a 6 day trip, I was on the bike no less than 8 hours every day (in Yellowstone going about 35mph everywhere). Figure I'd share.
  2. I guess I just learned that ABS isn't required in the US! I thought it was! - its just because EU required it since 2012 that all US bikes have them by the major companies.
  3. Thanks for the feedback Fleng! Happy it worked for you! Tracer 9 GT / MT-09 '21+ updates - The first prototype bits are on a bike and being tested, and results so far are very encouraging. This part will be a much different and potentially easier to install than the already easy install on the '15-'20 bikes. But more testing is going on Yamaha changed enough to make this an interesting remote design project
  4. I appreciate that this forum can appreciate good non Yamaha bikes. So many forums are nothing but zealots. Makes me happy to be here (but we can all shit talk KTMs right? )
  5. I also test rode a T9 GT a couple months ago and it is a nice bike. But really, I think most of it is down to the suspension. I think my 2019GT with Ohlins all around feels more nimble and responsive than I did with the T9 but it was a short test. Suspension seems to have long been the weakest point for these bikes and it seems Yamaha is fixing that! I am of the opinion I am not into mid-range electronic suspension. Because when it comes to upgrades and work on the suspension you are essentially boxed in unless you can get the ECU to stop managing the suspension and go to high end but manual ones. But the suspension on the GT is very nice compared to the T900 GT sock suspension! Look at the shocks they put on the MT-09 SP, just some nicely refined manual suspension, easily modifiable if you want
  6. Yeah... it seems USPS has stopped tracking for some countries once packages leave our shore now... or in some cases its still at the departure point for a week waiting to move. The USPS has been so damn random, some people get packages super fast over seas, others it bounces around in a departure point in the US for a week then finally moves to the same country ordered around the same time! That's why I've updated the timelines on the site to say Intl delivery may be 10 - 30 days. It sucks, but its where we are right now it seems Best I can do is ship the orders the day they are placed, and I do
  7. The CarPlay/android auto bit is nice. Pretty good looking bike for sure! Kinda looks like a smaller R1200RT.
  8. DeJoy. yeah he's a left over who really has one objective, destroy the USPS system... its actively hurting small businesses.
  9. if you picked this dude, we are of the same mind This dude is screwing up small businesses holiday shipping across the country!
  10. Turns out USPS just slammed the door on Australia for now! https://powerretail.com.au/news/slower-than-in-the-70s-usps-temporarily-suspends-deliveries-to-australia/ I thought my site was broken... but you cant actually ship to Aus unless you pay close to $70 for Priority Express shipping! (or $150 for UPS).
  11. Yeah the site should work for the UK for International 1st class shipping. Just go and check out and it should work. Australia is the only country that for some reason the API is broken for.
  12. FYI for any members down under, there is an issue processing shipping rates for Australia right now for some weird USPS API reason. Update: Turns out this is NOT an API issue, USPS legit just stopped doing 1st class or Priority mail to Australia for some reason. I cant even do shipping through the USPS site itself to anywhere in Aus. https://powerretail.com.au/news/slower-than-in-the-70s-usps-temporarily-suspends-deliveries-to-australia/ Only shipping option to Australia right now is USPS Priority Express which is $70.
  13. Yup, that is another option. I believe mine is better in many ways though. Mine uses rubber for the bushings to retain vibration isolation for the tank. that other kit uses hard plastic ones. The ramp/velcro design is more stable and consistent than the sticker spacers that kit uses, and makes adjustments fast. also my materials are much higher end than the kit above. I believe his is made of PETG or even worse PLA which will degrade in heat. Mine is carbon fiber nylon PA6 that is industrial/engineering quality, and is very heat and chemical resistant.
  14. If you havent been tracking the big thread over in the Tracer channel about fixing the weird forward slope of all the '18-20 Tracers - a slope issue that applies to the FJ-09 as well! I wanted to bring attention to it here, as I figure a lot of FJ riders likely don't look at the Tracer 900 channel. The Instructions and parts for the mod are listed here : https://jk3d.us/product/yamaha-tracer-900-gt-seat-slope-modification/ The OG thread is here : In the last few weeks I worked up a solution that is easy for this and simple to install, dozens of members have installed it on the Tracers, and recently a few members with the older '15-'17 FJ's installed it as well and verified it fits on those bikes as well. I am very proud of how this solution has worked and happy to help this community! (I am also working with some members on a T9 '21 version right now.)
  15. Sweet! Thanks! And real progress was made today on 2021 T9's... I am printing prototype parts now!
  16. So this is a silly question here - Does anyone know where one can purchase or find a Tracer 9 service manual? Looking for some torque specs and also assembly/disassembly info With that said - I received a trove of info from @tclhb and @2NDCHILDHOOD regarding the T9... Yamaha changed a ton for the seat mounting and this will be an interesting remote design project I am working on some prototype parts now.
  17. That's great to hear!! all the looking I've been doing shows the seat pan and seat base to be largely the same between the bikes so this is an awesome confirmation. I have one other member doing a test for me as well and since I cant see it in person I want at least 2 people to confirm before I sell them as such, but this is an awesome first step! I really appreciate it! I also just recieved the data on the '21 T9 and am working on designs over the next few days.
  18. Just dropped 8 orders off @ the post office, and I just had 3 parts on the printer fail at the same time (Experimental/Beta hot end I've been testing for a big mfg - it cracked in half and let hot rubber TPU just squirt all over, a wiring bracket, and a fan) on the printer (I designed the printer from scratch, so I know how to fix it fast). Been a busy couple days! But still hammering out product
  19. by 5 years my helmet generally smells like multiple animals died in it over those 5 years, so its time to shelve it. I have... sold old helmets (post cleaning) with clear disclaimers of age and such and have had people buy them for $100 - $150 and generally are using them for bashing around on UTVs and such.
  20. Shoei Neotec 2. Had a Neotec 1, and a Multitec before that. I am a very big modular helmet fan as I try to do full tank distances for some legs on rides and being able to drink some water and such is handy on the go. Also for doing photography I can use my camera without taking the helmet off. And the Shoei just fits my head well. I tried Schuberth, Nolan, and one other I cant remember and none fit my head.
  21. I am excited to see the bike, mainly because I am really liking to see a resurgence of interest in Sport Touring bikes that all but disappeared for a few years there. I am guessing it will look nice as well. DCT - not interested, and yes the bikes are all going to get heavier again ( I was impressed the T9 got lighter for its specs!), especially with the heavy DCT. I've thought a bunch about the power of the CP3 plant (in my '19), and yes at times I would LOVE more go fast mojo.... but I also think its kept me from doing some real stupid things the CP3 is just a great all around engine, I ride with people on 1200cc plants, and yeah they just always have a TON of grunt anywhere, where I need to be in the right gear. But overall, this bike should be very nice bike (I almost bought an AT before I decided on the Tracer).
  22. we can take this to another thread or DM, but I would not use any 3D printed plastics or any plastics on the brake MC handlebar bolts. That is a critical/life/death component and if it loosens can result in some real interesting adventures (Note I had a MC screw come loose on a ride, and was screwing the screws back in finger tight while riding because when I went to pull the brake, it just flopped around to the grip!) I stopped once I could and tightened the snot out of the bolts!
  23. @piotrek I am also interested in any other mods that piss people off for these bikes?... I know the thumb wheel is a pain, and I may pick up a new part to take apart and do some work on, but that is a bit of a lead time item and likely would be too serious of a mod for most people to attempt on their own bike. Given the bikes are so good, there isn't a whole lot to mess with!
  24. I am 75% sure this will work for the FJ-09 and FZ-09... but am waiting on some verification and I am loving helping out the community like this, it helps my very very small business, and helps everyone else!
  25. So I have people helping me with testing fitment on 15-17 FJ/MT/FZ09's and getting specs and pics from the 2021 bikes.... hope to have solutions for those as well soon.
