  1. by 5 years my helmet generally smells like multiple animals died in it over those 5 years, so its time to shelve it. I have... sold old helmets (post cleaning) with clear disclaimers of age and such and have had people buy them for $100 - $150 and generally are using them for bashing around on UTVs and such.
  2. Shoei Neotec 2. Had a Neotec 1, and a Multitec before that. I am a very big modular helmet fan as I try to do full tank distances for some legs on rides and being able to drink some water and such is handy on the go. Also for doing photography I can use my camera without taking the helmet off. And the Shoei just fits my head well. I tried Schuberth, Nolan, and one other I cant remember and none fit my head.
  3. I am excited to see the bike, mainly because I am really liking to see a resurgence of interest in Sport Touring bikes that all but disappeared for a few years there. I am guessing it will look nice as well. DCT - not interested, and yes the bikes are all going to get heavier again ( I was impressed the T9 got lighter for its specs!), especially with the heavy DCT. I've thought a bunch about the power of the CP3 plant (in my '19), and yes at times I would LOVE more go fast mojo.... but I also think its kept me from doing some real stupid things the CP3 is just a great all around engine, I ride with people on 1200cc plants, and yeah they just always have a TON of grunt anywhere, where I need to be in the right gear. But overall, this bike should be very nice bike (I almost bought an AT before I decided on the Tracer).
  4. we can take this to another thread or DM, but I would not use any 3D printed plastics or any plastics on the brake MC handlebar bolts. That is a critical/life/death component and if it loosens can result in some real interesting adventures (Note I had a MC screw come loose on a ride, and was screwing the screws back in finger tight while riding because when I went to pull the brake, it just flopped around to the grip!) I stopped once I could and tightened the snot out of the bolts!
  5. @piotrek I am also interested in any other mods that piss people off for these bikes?... I know the thumb wheel is a pain, and I may pick up a new part to take apart and do some work on, but that is a bit of a lead time item and likely would be too serious of a mod for most people to attempt on their own bike. Given the bikes are so good, there isn't a whole lot to mess with!
  6. I am 75% sure this will work for the FJ-09 and FZ-09... but am waiting on some verification and I am loving helping out the community like this, it helps my very very small business, and helps everyone else!
  7. So I have people helping me with testing fitment on 15-17 FJ/MT/FZ09's and getting specs and pics from the 2021 bikes.... hope to have solutions for those as well soon.
  8. So I am trying to find the mfg of this, I installed this button setup on my Triumph (wired to the back of the gauge cluster to remap the 3 buttons from the dash to the handlebars easily) ... it is meant for an aftermarket gauge/cluster setup, but I cant find where I bought it from. This would replace the entire wheel setup with some work. I am going to keep looking.
  9. I don’t believe so, and there are none in dealers around me so I can’t even check. I heard the brackets are different though. If I can get measurements and pics I could draft up a set for it to test.
  10. Most current phones are pretty near fully waterproof, and most are rain/splash proof. They are delicate though, and their screens are really frustrating with some gloves.
  11. This guy gets it! Those Lee Parks gloves are legit awesome, just expensive and I forget about them every time I need to buy gloves. A friend had them and I almost stole them from him. Also Lee Parks advanced training classes are legit as well.
  12. Yeah thats a common issue.... Google Maps works very well but that is a hangup. there are a number of other apps that could work but all have downsides. Here is OK but still very limited on routes, Calimoto is a GREAT app for routing, has a great UI, and offline maps, BUT has no traffic info. I've yet to find anything that works as well as my old Garmin Nuvi + traffic data did. But CaliMoto is the closest, but does have a subscription fee. I still use Google Maps for most things though and just click continue.
  13. Laser cutting is limited based on the off gas’s products. CF (laminated) is generally not doable due to very toxic smoke from the epoxy layers. Vinyl is also out as it breaks down into hydrochloric acid and the vapor eats the machine. Vinyl also can generate phosgene gas when burned. I had to look up the general polymers used in Velcro before it cut it. the observation about it cauterizing the kerf is a good one! I’ve used this machine to custom cut nylon fabric before for a patch for that reason! I would love to get a water jet though ok this went off topic fast ;)
  14. haha no need to yell and no, yours was the hand cut. Which is fine The shipments today are laser cut. All it means is the velcro may be slightly more symmetrical. I did the change mainly cause the scissors I was using is so gummed up with velcro glue that it was becoming a pain, and to make my workflow easier.... and it's cool to laser cut stuff.
  15. I truly appreciate the good reports! If any of you have a free second, I would appreciated if you could drop some stars or a review on Google for me (this is always so awkward and I am not great at self promotion ) https://g.page/jk3d-us-feedback?gm
  16. I used them in 25F mornings at Yellowstone with the heated grips and was comfortable. I am OK with some cooler hands, but I found the heated grips + the insulation in the gloves worked well.
  17. Velcro. there is industrial grade velcro used to secure the riser pads in place. I was cutting out the velcro squares by hand before, and now I just made it more precise and WAY faster for me.
  18. So I just went on this journey as well... I tested multiple Alpine Star gloves, A set of Revit, a set of Reax (which I love their Ridge WP loves for fall/rain summer gloves: https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/reax-ridge-wp-gloves ) I ended up settling on the Coretech Scarab 2.0 https://www.motorcyclegear.com/street/gloves/insulated_and_or_waterproof/cortech/scarab_2_winter_gloves.html They seem warm enough for me, the touch screen functionality actually works, and they are well armored without feeling too bulky. A similar glove is the Sedici Antonio (which is way cheaper, but less insulated) - but I found it to be a bad fit, and the touch screen stuff doesnt work. Now my glove setup is: Summer: Reax Superfly Mesh leather Summer Rain/Fall: Reax Ridge WP Fall Rain/Winter: Coretech Scarab 2.0 No gloves are truly warm and keep the tactile feedback I really want, but the scarab is close enough.
  19. After getting tired of cutting all the velcro by hand, I figured out my laser cutter can do it as well
  20. Really not sure there is any way for the SW-Motec plate to cause more damage than it protects... its pretty well designed. And if you were to have something barely clear your sump and slam at full bore into your exhaust lunchbox... you could also be in for some fun.
  21. R I went with 1/8" or thicker EDPM (and a thin sheet of hot rolled stainless steel to spread out any impact energy, but that is WAY overkill). Keep in mind the temperatures down there and that its exposed to oils and such. EDPM was a good choice for that I thought.
  22. Yeah the gap there is big, you could actually put some dampening material between the two so if there is a big hit it slows down/spread the energy transfer. (Honeycomb, EDPM, etc...) But if you look at it from the side, the plate is level with the lower portion of the stock exhaust which actually makes it look pretty streamlined
  23. Awesome thanks for the info! I added that observation to the product listing I'm running the printer pretty non stop kicking these out to build up some stock, you guys have been draining my supply fast
  24. It may be compatible with any seat that uses the stock seat mount pads on the frame. Since that is what we are tweaking the height of. If the plastic tray the seat sits on is the same this may very well work. There are just so many aftermarket seats I can’t promise each of them would work. let me know how it goes!
